    Hello Jane,

    I spoke to a doctor regarding my loss of appetite and she told me that due to the extent of my surgery she's not surprised about the lack of desire to eat.  I've been fortunate with the lack of pain...I haven't had my pain meds for almost a week now.

    Europe, huh.  I haven't been to Europe but I've been to Australia and New Zealand.  Loved the countries.  I stayed in Australia for 2 weeks and New Zealand for one week.  The only way I was able to stay for so long is that I stayed with my friends in Australia so I saved quite a bit of money on lodging.

    I sure hope you're able to get your Europe trip back into the picture.

    Lynn:  A broken fibula?  Ouch!  My husband snapped his fibula and tibia a few months ago and was put in a cast from his upper thigh all the way down (and around) his toes.  He was so irritated with the cast that he went to out boat shop and had one of our employees cut the cast off.  Not smart but he doesn't use his legs due to him being a quadriplegic so he healed.

    cardio yes 1 point  --stair stepper 20 mins elitical 20 mins  got all hot and sweaty and was worn ou at the end.. i challenged myself on a 20 min run with a much higher difficulty than normal..did not go as fast this time.. just worked much harder  my hear rate was 120-126  (right up there for me-- the highest i ever got was 133--my normal heart rate is in the mid 50s--maybe 60) 

    weights  yes 1 point-- arms today  including pull ups..

    HI everyone!! Glad to see Carol Joy back!!  Computer problems can be a real pain!!

    I actually can report for yesterday - 2 points

    Cardio - yes (walked for 65 minutes and if felt great!)
    Nutrition log - yes
    Weights - no  

    Carol Joy, thanks for the "talking to", I needed that.  Yes, the bathing suit is a great reminder of what I'm striving for.  LOL  And all those clothes I bought that still fit.  Of course, having you come down and do some training wouldn't be too bad, I probably would benefit!! 

    Lynn, welcome back.  Sounds like you had a wonderful trip.  Sorry to hear about your back problems.  And we are looking forward to having you back with us in September.

    Thanks everyone for your comments on the photo. A co-worker of mine found a photo of me on his computer from about two years ago. I took one look and just about got sick! I had to have weighed well over 300 pounds! NEVER AGAIN. So the picture that we had on our website of me what when I weighed about 285 - that was the picture that I was previously using here. I've decided that as much as I don't want to, I'm saving those pictures, to catalogue my changes! So that's three pictures down! Carol Joy, my natural hair color is actually a bit darker than what it shows in the picture, I still wear glasses, just took them off for the picture! Just wait until I post the next one sometime this winter!!!!!

     Patti - It was my fibula, not Lynn's that cracked.  That was back in 2007.  The ligament and tendon in it aren't stable, it has nerve damage and the four bones just below the ankle are partially fused (it got smashed in a car accident in 2004 and is a problem ever since).  After the 2007 incident, the doc put me in a support brace like athletes wear.

    I went to Japan to visit my son back in late April and early May and I got bit by the travel bug.  I'd go to Australia or New Zealand if I could.  If our son continues to live in Japan, to see him again, we could meet in Australia or Europe rather than going to Japan again.  Physically, I'm not in great shape so I want to travel while I still can!

    Except for a few stretches, no exercise. I put in a 12-hr. day at work, got most everything done that I needed to before I left on vacation.  When I get computer access, it will probably be limited, so I'll try to track by jotting things down.  I'll be back home late on Mon, Aug 18 so I may not post until Tues.  Wishing everyone a great and healthy week.

    it rained today.. no bike riding to work so i tried to make up for a few more calories at the gym today  cardio.50 minutes on the eliptical machine with varying speeds and resistance.  did this in groups of 2 -- 25 mins each by doing crunches and stretching in between... heat rate was in the 120s for most of it ..  so 1 point

    nutrition.. 1 point .. all green again..even the sodium today

    weight yes worked on legs today 1 point  

    3 total--  i really want to keep losing... yes i am getting stronger and much better endurance..i think i  am doing pretty good for a 55 y/o  granny!!  i was encouraged by weighing at the end of the day at the gym and being 169. i usually weigh the heaviest  (an extra 2 lbs )in the evening.. yeah i know stay off the scale..i was feeling skinnier  tonight after i worked out!!

    Carol Joy - Saturday morning I'll be heading off on vacation - no computer access. I won't be logging back in until probably either late next Tuesday or Wednesday. Just a heads up. I promise to eat as best as I can and get plenty of exercise (shouldn't be a problem, taking the kids school shopping to the biggest mall closest to Spokane and maybe even going to Spokane for a day and then an amusement park for a day!) lots of walking!
