    alright here is the scoop on the job interview ....it went very well should here something in a few days with one more cut to go..the helicopter ride...but i have heard thru friends that my interview was great and i made a great impression...crossing my fingers......thanks for everyones support...melissa

    jane..most stair steppers have a quick start button.. and you can increase your levels1-20... i just do level 4 and that works for me.. i would start at 5 minutes at level 1 or 2 and increase it as you feel its too easy...some of them have different programs.. just start out easy an see what you think....i like to have the fan blowing on   me.. cause i get so hot from it...good luck and have fun..      kathy

     

     Kathy -  I actually have weakness on my right side when I step down so I don't know how that would effect me on a stair stepper.  I don't have a problem going up normal steps. The gym I go to has plenty of fans and I think I'll just try a few minutes at the easiest setting. Thanks for the tips so I won't feel like a complete fool if I go near a stair-stepper at the gym. - Jane

    This has been such a stressful week at work, I needed to take the break from the exercising!

    Melissa - We're wishing you the best on the next stage of the interview.  Helicopter rides as part of the job ... sounds like a cool job. 

    Jayne - You've lost a lot since Feb and taking vacations and keeping it off during vacations is great!

    September Challenge?

    It appears that Carol Joy stopped posting and stopped tracking our progress in mid-August. 

    I'm interested in a September Challenge.  Is anyone else interested in a September Challenge?

    I propose we have a September Challenge and focus on the following basics:

    1. Healthy Nutrition maintaining low cal and appropriate fats 
    2. Cardio Workouts of at least 20 minutes with 40 min workouts w/ Target Heart Rate Tracking 
    3. Weight-Bearing Exercise - 2 or 3 per week - aim for at least 25 minutes
    4. Each participant tracks their own weight loss or gain weekly 
    5. Posting to the board daily (barring computer glitches or lack of access)
    6. One day off per week from Cardio Workouts 

    We could start on Tuesday, Sept 3 and end on Monday, September 30 (that would give us a 28-day challenge.

    Points:

    1. Nutrition - 1 pt. daily
    2. Cardio - 20 min workout - 1 pt. or  40 min workout - 2 pt. Daily 
    3. Weight Bearing 1pt. earned each time participant does a weight workout (up to 3 per week)
    4. Doing weekly weigh-in and mentioning that you did it in your post (no details required, just a comment that you are tracking)
    5. Posting to the Challenge daily - 1 pt.
    6. Taking 1 Day per Week off from Cardio - 1 pt.

    Each participants could post their points earned and the categories that they earned them in.  For example:

    Participant Name

    Nutrition goals met - 1 pt

    Cardio - 40 min w THR - 2 pts.

    Posting - 1 pt.

    Points for this date = 4 pts.

    I've never done tracking, but I could try to do that for us a couple of times within the month.  Does anyone want to join in?  If we had 10 or 15 people, that would probably be good.

     kathy reporting 3 points for sunday 8/31  -- finishing with a bang!!  also. weighed in last night  at 166 ...another  pound of unsightly  fat fat  gone!!(my gym is open 24/7) so no excuses there..i had the place all to myself yesterday..that and i was irritated at my family so i took it out at the gym..which is better than taking it out on a pizza!!
