    Scale Anxiety :/

     Hi everyone!

I'm new to Alli (I started last Thursday, July 31th) and I've been hesitantly optimistic. I've lost 3 pounds so far. The thing is, I tend to be very compulsive about weighing myself. I weigh myself upwards of 5 times a day. I know.....this isn't healthy behavior nor is it condusive to achieving my  goal but I can't help it. I want to know!!! I want to see results immediately. Yesterday I stepped on the scale and I had actually gone UP over a pound! This conincided with me upping my caloric and fat intake to meet my goals so it felt sort of like........well, I'm eating more (again) so now I'm going to start gaining weight (again).

I know the logical thing to believe is that it has a lot to do with the fact that I'm on my period but for a second I was really disheartened. Then I thought about some of the things I'd seen written on these message boards and I decided to put my scale away. Right now, it's in the trunk of my car and it's not coming out until August 11th, my check in date. Today is the first time I haven't jumped out of bed and weighed myself in months.

These forums are really helping me out. I didn't expect to see so many people giving each other support and guidance. I love it and I'm looking forward to my check in date!

    Re: Scale Anxiety :/

Keep your spirits up and your scale away!  Hahaha!  You know what is best for you and that was not it.  Losing weight can change your life, but the process shouldn’t be you life.  This program will work.  If you stick to the plan it WILL WORK!  I have seen it.  I have lost 30 pounds and am lighter than I have been in over 4 years.  I was at a family party this weekend wearing a dress that I bought in the regular section of Target….(I am going to say that again because it feels good!  I wore a dress that was not from the plus size area!)…..with all the people that I love and care about, but haven’t seen in a while.  There is nothing better in the world than having someone do a double take at you and say, “I didn’t even realize that was you from behind” or “You look great!”  It is so much better than a scale telling you that you lost 2 pounds.  Believe me.

Keep it up.  Stay positive – if you get down or blue come here and tell us about it.  Because here – we understand how you are feeling.  We truly have been there before.  Good luck!

    Re: Scale Anxiety :/

I have the same problem! I jump on the scale probably upwards of 7-8 times a day. And I know it's a little obsessive, but I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing. I know my weight fluxuates throughout the day and I always weigh the least first thing in the morning. But how I look at it is, if I see an increase, I'm stricter on my foods or I increase my workout that day. It's how I keep myself in check daily so I don't fall off the bandwagon.

    Re: Scale Anxiety :/

Well, I am addicted to the scale as well, but am down to only getting on once a day first thing in the morning.  I have moved it so that I have to pull it out when I want to stand on it now, which really does help.

I use it as a tool to monitor my water weight, as I am a huge sponge and have major water retention issues.  I can tell by the fluctuation in my weight if I have to be more careful depending on my salt intake.

Good Luck on your checkin date and keep us posted!

    Re: Scale Anxiety :/

    Hi,

I have been on Alli since the beginning of July and have lost 7 lbs. so far. I'm really pleased with that loss but right now I seem to be at a stand still. I just can't seem to get below that 7 lb. number.  I stay within my calorie and fat intake and I walk 30 minutes each day (except Sunday). I know we are to go slowly but this can be frustrating at time. Sometimes I feel like a yo-yo when I weight myself. By the end of the day I sometimes feel bloated. Does anyone else feel like this or is it just me? I would appreciate hearing from you with any advise. I guess we'll just keep hanging in there.

    Jean
