    Go for the Gold--Olympic Challenge

The summer olympics start 8/8/08.  The challenge is to walk (or jog or whatever) an extra mile for every USA gold medal, 1/2 mile for every silver and 1/4 mile for every bronze.  Miles to be completed by Labor Day.  Anyone interested?

Re: Go for the Gold--Olympic Challenge

    Hi Bee,

I'm doing the other challenge, and I do a lot walking with it.  So, yes, I'll add the extra walking in for this challenge for the medals.  I need all the help I can get when it comes to exercise, so I can interweave these two together.

Will you keep up with the number of medals the US wins?   Let us know the daily medal totals?   So if the US wins 25 gold, we have to walk 25 miles by Labor day, and so forth, right?

    Thanks,

    Carol

Re: Go for the Gold--Olympic Challenge

Hello everyone.  Thanks for accepting the challenge.  We have a great bunch of athletes in Beijing.  They will make this challenge interesting.  I'll post the medal counts and calculate the challenge miles each day.  Please post your miles as we go along.

As of 9:30 eastern time, the USA has three medals - a gold, a silver and a bronze, all in women fencing.  The USA women swept sabers!  Cool way to start.

Total challenge to meet (so far): 1 and 3/4 miles.

Bee's challenge miles logged: 3/4 mile.  I'll know be out for another walk tonight.

Hey!  I know I am a day late, but I would also love to participate in the challenge!  I am doing the other one on this forum as well, but I think this would make a great addition to it, and I could always use extra motivation!

Re: Go for the Gold--Olympic Challenge

Hi everyone.  Welcome Susan, Lisa, and Brittany.  The more participants the more fun and the more miles we will log together.  Lisa is right, our atheletes are doing well in Beijing--they are going to keep us moving.  Go USA!  If the challenge miles get really high, you can consider biking some of them.

    Kelli, thanks for the encouragement.

The medals are adding up.  As of 8:30am ET, 8/10, we have 2 Gold, 2 Silver, and 4 Bronze.  Woohoo, a great start in Beijing.  And Michael Phelps has just begun--he set a record already--hooray.

Total Challegne miles to meet to date:  4 MILES

Bee's miles logged so far: 3.25.

    Have fun and keep moving,

    Bee

Re: Go for the Gold--Olympic Challenge

I'm also in the other challenge but I'd be interested in this challenge as well.  I just saw this thread after 2 1/2 days of computer down time.  Let me know if it's okay to join or if your challenge is already full.

    Thanks,

    Jane
