Re: Go for the Gold--Olympic Challenge

    Hey  Lisa,

Remember we have until Labor Day to get all of our miles in...so, keep checking in at least until then.  Maybe we could keep tracking our miles and then add strength training a few days a week for a new challenge.

Re: Go for the Gold--Olympic Challenge

    Hello Pam,

Ill be checking in on everyone.... Go Team!!!!!  Keep movin'... theres time to get a gold!!!!!

I think it would be wonderful to keep track of our miles and incorporate weights. I really need to do weights. I know on the other Challenge post (the one that is full) they will have some type of challenge and we can adapt some of that challenge ideas or something????? As long as we have each other or even a sight to be accountable on would be great. Thank you Pam for your encouragment..

Anybody else interested in continuing or joining in????

Re: Go for the Gold--Olympic Challenge

Hi everyone.  I think Ed and Lisa deserve a special congratulations.  Not only did they both reach the gold medal goal, but they both did it by the final day of the Olympics!  You two are inspiring.  I did more miles than I'm used to this week, so I'm a bit sore.  I'm still plugging away, but I'm glad we have 'til Labor Day.  I added 3 miles yesterday.  That's 53.5 dowm and 11.5 to go.  Pam, take care of that knee as you keep plugging away.  You've made great progress this month.  Looking forward to posts from Susan and Beth.

Re: Go for the Gold--Olympic Challenge

    beebee64:

Here's the latest from msn.com:  As of 8/24, 5:14 AM ET the USA has 36 Gold, 38 Silver, and 36 Bronze.  Yup, that's 110 medals total for the USA.  As far as I know that number will stand, but one never knows when a disqualification or such will change the medal count (hopefully in the USA's favor :)).  I'll keep an eye out for changes.

So, our Medal Challenge total is now: 64 MILES for a GOLD medal finish!

48 MILES for a SILVER medal finish (75%)

32 MILES for a BRONZE medal finish (50%)

    Good Morning Group!

    Here are my current totals:

    08/09/08 - 2.0 miles

    08/10/08 - 2.5 miles

    08/11/08 - 2.0 miles

    08/12/08 - 2.5 miles

    08/13/08 - 2.0 miles

    08/14/08 - 2.5 miles

    08/15/08 - 2.0 miles

    08/16/08 - 2.5 miles

    08/17/08 - 5.0 miles

    08/18/08 - 2.0 miles

    08/19/08 - 3.0 miles

    08/20/08 - 5.0 miles

    08/21/08 - 2.0 miles

    08/22/08 - 2.0 miles

    08/23/08 - 1.5 miles

    08/24/08 - 1.5 miles

    TOTAL - 40 miles!

I am planning to stop with the 40 miles, as tomorrow I am returning to school. (I teach 7th grade English and social studies). I know that the next week will be super busy, as I haven't stepped foot into my classroom all summer (one of the first summers I've done that!). Thanks for all of the support, and I'm very happy with 40 miles (and a Bronze finish)! I won't be continuing the challenge, since I will be back at work and hope to start at Gold's Gym this fall!

Kudos to everyone who worked so hard on this challenge!!! You are all Gold medal winners to me!

    Susan

Re: Go for the Gold--Olympic Challenge

Susan, have a happy return to the classroom today.  I assume you'll be on your feet and moving around a lot, so you probably burn more calories than I do at a desk.  Congratulations on a strong finish in the challenge.  40 miles is excellent.

My workout was interupted yesterday.  One mile to add, taking me to 54.5 miles.

I'm impressed with those you have already finished.  Pam, Beth and I will continue to work toward our challenge goals.

I miss seeing wild turkeys.  None in this neighborhood.  Have fun out there, Lisa.  I did 2 more challenge miles yesterday, so I'm at 56.5.  7.5 to go!
