    Just Started Alli

Hello, I just started Alli and I just don't have the energy to workout. Any tip on how I can  gain so energy  to get a move on. I like to exercise, but just can't get motivated to do it.

     Hi Hen,

I just started this past monday.  You don't have to jog or do push-ups for exercise.  For my exercise I clean out a closet, pull weeds, walk my dog, wash floors...etc.  This was working out feels more productive for me and I don't mind as much.  If you are really tired you may be dehydrated...don't forget to drink lots of water.  Good luck!

    Re: Just Started Alli

Hello, My name is Windy and I also just started 10 days ago. I don't like to exercise either but what I do is clean my house, rake the yard, mow the yard, etc. I just started doing a Richard Simmons 80's Blast video. Its mainly dance to me and it so fun. Today was my first check in date and I have already lost 8 pounds on this program. So good luck to you

You're all so right.  You don't have to do crunches or pushups or run.  If you don't have a pedometer, it's a really good idea to get one.  They're not expensive and you can easily keep track of your day.  Not enough steps?  Go take a walk or vacuum ... again :-)  My house is a *lot* cleaner these days because I make myself take extra steps.  Easy things like parking at the rear of the lot when I grocery shop.  Bringing in two bags at a time instead of trying to do all of it in one trip.  One gal even said she started sending print jobs to a remote printer at the other end of the building so she has to walk farther to go pick it up.  Use your imagination and just keep adding steps.

    Best of success,

    Mary

    Re: Just Started Alli

I was doing at program designed by the hospital/clinic I go to and I had to keep track of my daily excercise . I thought it would be empty, but between keeping track of all the walking I did at school, cleaning my house, yard work and just walking around stores, my calendar filled up quickly. I think by the end of one week I walked 4-5 hours. Before actually writing down what I did in a day, I thought I was pretty much motionless. It made me feel better about not going to the gym that day.

I am so nervous about starting the Alli program because I have done so many diets before and most of them ended up not working. I am begining to eat my recomended fat intake today and I am noticing that I am still  hungry after I eat. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem too?

    Hi Nannon,

Eating your fat grams, yes.  But are you eating everything on the meal plan or a substitute for it?  Snacks are so very important.  They keep you from being famished at meal time and over-eating.

At first, I thought, OMG ... so much food!  Don't cheat yourself out of the recommended calories.

It takes a little while to get the hang of it.  Before you know it, you'll be quite satisfied and have plenty of the right kinds of snacks around.

Best of success to you!  This plan works!  I've tried so many and never had such good results.

    Hi Rhonda,

Actually, no, it doesn't aid the process if you don't eat both your recommended fat grams and calories.  If you're under 5 gm of fat for a meal, you don't even have to take a capsule.  You'd actually be wasting it.

Click the blue bar below this posting section.  Then go to "discuss Alli with a registered dietitian".  Read the first two posts about why it's important to eat both the fat and the calories.

The Alli food plan includes healthy fats.  Your body does need those.  If there is something on your meal plan you don't like, substitute with something else.  You can do that from your nutrition log.

    Re: Just Started Alli

I thought it was going to be hard to eat my recommended fat in one day, that I would go over so easily. By the end of the day yesterday I still had about 25 more grams of fat to eat! I would say too that even if you don't eat your total fat intake for the day the Alli pills should still help because there is still fat in your food that you can get rid of.  I am so scared to have any TE's that I am trying to eat less in a meal so there are no close calls.

I take that back. I get it all now.

Mary, I do substitute my foods. I dont eat the recommended meal plans, I do my own meals. And I do really good too.

    Re: Just Started Alli

Nonnon, I do my own meal plan too.  Mostly because if you follow the meal plan rigidly, you'll have all kinds of tidbits of food left over and could waste a lot of things.

Alli Meal Plan is not all that rigid.  Tweak it as you like.  Just make sure you are eating the correct amount of calories for the meal along with the correct amount of fat grams.  And do have low fat/no fat snacks.  They really help you not to be so hungry at meal time.

If you didn't make your fat grams and it's 9 PM ... OMG, don't go eating hand fulls of peanuts to make up for it.  You could end up with serious TE's if you do something like that if it's within 2 hours or so of taking a pill.

Just try to keep your meals within the recommended calorie/fat guidelines per meal and go from there.

Nothing is written in stone.  That's what I like most about Alli.

    Re: Just Started Alli

Hello, Well so far I have lost 24 pounds. I here alot of the people at work talk about the TE's. They will say oily butt and just tell them that if they follow the plan like it says to then they would not have that problem. My husband is most supportive because he know how long I have struggled with my weight and how I always hurt. He is always telling me that he is so proud of me. He even got to where he asks me if I have weighed myself today and I tell him and I have always lost 2 or 3 more pounds. My coworkers are very supportive too. They ask me every weekend how its going and I tell them how much I weight and their jaw just drops. I love this program. I finally found something that actually works for me. I am also very commited because once I reach my goal weight I want to lose 50 more pounds after that to get to my ideal weight for my height.
