    not doing so well

I am getting so discouraged.  I can't seem to get my mind right.  I want to lose the weight.

I feel so ugly.  I know that when I have lost the weight before I felt really good about myself.

I just can't get out of the dumps about putting weight back on. I have refused to buy myself clothes

to fit me because I don't want to go back to larger sizes. Anyone have any suggestions.

    Re: not doing so well

Well, I can suggest lowering your goals.  I don't know how much weight you want to lose, but for instance if it's 50 pounds, set your goal for only five pounds.  Why?  Because 5 pounds is do-able.  Once you get there you can set the next small goal.  Also, indulge yourself with 100-calorie snacks, they're what save me everyday from going way off the wagon.  I just finished my lunch, which was a turkey sandwich, with half a bag of 100-calorie Cheez Its and half bag of Mr. Salty chocolate dipped pretzels (100 calorie).  That way you can take care of your cravings and not feel deprived.

Good luck, and just get started!

I feel exactly the same way!  I probably should not be replying to your post, but I know the feeling.  Maybe if we give eachother some tips things will turn around.  I have not even taken alli in 4 days so I have just been eating whatever I want.  Tomorrow I am taking it and getting back on track.  If you read the posts, it works for so many people it can't be any different for us!  Good luck and remember it's all a mindset.

    Re: not doing so well

The first step is to love yourself first.  Put all the blame aside.  Take a deep down look at who you are, there is noone like you.  Only you can change yourself, and it starts with the inside first.  Think positive.  When you are down on your self....It is harder to focus on what you really want.  When you let all that go, and think this is what I really want.  You will begin to see a change in everything.  Make the little things count for you.  You said you have lost weight in the past so you know you can do this.  We all do the blaming game at one time or another.

I have been over weight since 1992.  I blamed everything, everyone but myself.  Poor Poor me.  The fact is I made my self over weight.  I have the soild responsibility for it no one else does.  It would be nice to just wake up and have a Barbie body.  Some of us do, and most have to work at it.

Keep posting.  Keep reaching for your goal.  And before long we all will be as beautiful as we are inside as well as out.

Kimberley, wow ... so well spoken.

I hope you will continue to post even when you've lost the weight you want to lose.  Your attitude is just wonderful and you will help so many by sharing of yourself as you do.

It's not about yesterday or how you failed at something or what went wrong.  It's about right now.  You.  Your health, your family, your commitment to change.

    Bless you girl!

    Re: not doing so well

    Hi Blazers,

I am sorry to hear that you are having a tough time. It can be very difficult to feel uncomfortable in your own skin. One of the many hard things about weight loss is that you can't make your extra weight go away overnight. You will need to accept your weight as it is right now. You can remind yourself that you will never have to be at this weight again and that as long as you stick with your plan you WILL lose weight. It may even help to picture what you would say to a child who was feeling the way that you are. People tend to be so much more caring and forgiving with children then they are with themselves. The best motivator is going to be kindness, forgiveness, and acceptance from you.

I recommend that you don't look for any changes in your body for at least 3 months. No one can see a difference in how they look after losing 2 lbs. I know how much work it takes to lose 2 lbs and wish that you did see something, but it's not how this works. Commit to your plan for the next three months and then look for the changes.

    How does this sound?

Just by telling us your story you are doing something for your self.At one ww meeting i went to the lecturer said every day get up and look in the mirrow and say out loud "i am very important person".And we all are important people to our selves. As some one mentioned dont look at the big picture go for 5 or 10 pound mini goals.I have almost met my first goal and still have over 100 pounds to lose.It seems a daunting quest but i want to be healthy and im sick of being fat!!.

    Keep posting

    Re: not doing so well

I had a similar situation last week, actually... I was in a total funk. I had taken a "break" from walking 3 miles every day because it was too hot by the time I got off of work and was just eating crap. I gained back 5 of the pounds I had lost in the first month of exercise and Alli. I was getting ready for a shower last week and really took a critical look in the mirror. Consequently, I had a minor meltdown. I am not usually one to throw my own pity party, but that was just the final crack in the dam. I felt unattractive, thought I was un-sexy to my fiance, and just plain tired and fat. I bawled my eyes out for a while and that was it. I was done feeling sorry for myself and got up at 5:30 a.m. Monday to walk 3 miles. And then did another 3 miles Tuesday... No more excuses about the weather, the heat, not having time, etc... I have been back on my routine for 3 days and I feel a million times better. This morning it was dumping rain so instead of walking 3 miles we played 15 games of Wii Tennis and then 3 rounds of Wii boxing, as well as some core exercises before I went to work. I refuse to let the weather or the time of day "keep" me from accomplishing my goal of becoming healthier and able to do whatever activities I want. I decided that even if the weather is gross I am still going to do SOMETHING every morning to make sure I maintain the momentum that I have now. I read somewhere that it takes 21 days to make something a habit, and I am out to test that theory! :)

Bottom line, you have to do this for you. No one else is going to do it. You need to examine your motives for wanting to lose weight and make sure you aren't just doing this to please anyone else. Taking care of yourself is the most important thing. I personally can't stand the thought of looking at another flight of stairs and thinking "great, this is going to kick my butt..." or NOT doing an activity because I know I will look fat and clumsy or not wearing shorts because my thighs rub together when I walk. I also refuse to buy new clothes in "big girl" sizes.

You say that you have lost weight before. Think back to what really made a difference then and modify it to fit your life now. We all have those days/weeks where we might not feel so hot about ourselves. But I tell you what... confidence is sexy and it comes from the inside out. Believe in yourself and before you know it, you will be slimming down and feeling like a million bucks. Just remember to love yourself first and make the important changes for YOU. Hang in there!!

    Re: not doing so well

     Hi my name is Larry,

Blazers I hope this daily prayer I composed helps you and others needing additional strength:

I accept the challenge and responsibility for this day with confidence. I claim this day like a proud parent claims their new born child. Today I will fight ferociously every second, minute, hour within this day to obtain my goal(s). I am not guaranteed tomorrow therefore I will not let thoughts of tomorrow distract me from today’s goal(s).

I am in a hand to hand battle with today’ reality and if I am to succeed I know my focus must remain on today and the 24 hours it contains. Today I am the marine on the battlefield of life facing my temptations and calling for immediate support from my Higher Power to completely annihilate all traces of weakness within me.

Today’s prayer for support is the prayer I will use today, tomorrow, and everyday hereafter. I am the beautiful butterfly fighting to get out of my cocoon and enjoy life. However, today I realize I am on the frontline facing temptations of all kinds that threaten the emergence of the beautiful me that want to leave the dark cocoon and see God’s light.  Though dark forces assemble in force I will remain calm and serene and not make a self-destructive choice because the forces of temptation are no match for my SUPPORT.

Let all overeaters everywhere remember when we feel threatened by temptation and self-destructive acts fill our minds that there is no temptation in the world SUPPORT cannot annihilate if called upon.

    SUPPORT is our Higher Power.

I feel the same as you do. I have good intensions but fall off the wagon so easily. I read the info and take the pills but nothing is helping me and I am retired. I go to Curves 3x a Week but I still have a problem. I don't want to gain anymore weight.  Misti boy
