Carole, I've had a Wii Fit since May 2008 and absolutely recommend it as a great way to exercise and have fun. :) My hubby bought it for my birthday because I really wanted to try it out and have something different than exercise DVD's, which don't really work for me. The exercises are fun, you can compete against friends or family, and you can mix up your exercise as much as you want. The first week I used it I didn't drop a lot of pounds but I noticed a lot more toning of the areas I was working and I wasn't having trouble with sore muscles.
The game starts you off with just a few games in each catagory - Yoga, Strength, Aerobics and Balance Games. As you play you open up more games and levels. It keeps track of your scores in each game so you can compete against yourself or other family members or friends. (There is a Wii Fit group in the 40-somethings and we post scores from time to time.)
Both of my kids have played the Wii Fit. They had fun for a while but with school, work and lots of activities its hard for them to do it much. I'm really the one who uses it the most, which is okay with me.
There are new games out that use the Wii Board, so its not just for the Fit program anymore. I recently purchased Jillian Michael's Ultimatum Workout 2009 which uses the controllers and board for some pretty strenuous cardio exercises. I'm sure there will be even more games developed to use the board as Nintendo works on getting people moving with their games. :)
