Re: Day 16 on Alli...No Change

Hi Favored, I feel so sorry for you, it's frustrating to stick to the plan and not lose.  There are many, many people on this board who have gone through the same thing and stuck with it and then began to lose.  There are many, many more people who didn't lose quickly enough to satisfy them and gave up and they are no longer on the board and have probably gone back to their old eating habits and gained weight.  Don't be one of those, just think about how much better you are feeling, even if you haven't lost.  Keep coming back here, do this with us!

     Hi Favored,

That's kind of odd.  Odder yet is that a moderator hasn't responded.  Maybe you should post to the dietitians boards and discuss this with them.

Seems like most folks start off with a bang of 3-5 pounds weight loss in the first 10 days or so.  Then level off to 1-2 pounds a week.  It would be odd to actually gain weight.

Maybe reset your calorie/fat gram intake to the next lower level.  Maybe the starter calories/fat gram intake is too much for you're exact circumstances?

Also, look for hidden torpedos ... carbonated beverages?  fruit juice?  too much sodium?  All of those things can contribute to weight gain and water retention.

Re: Day 16 on Alli...No Change

    Hi Favored13,

I think that it's time that you adjust your calories. You can cut back by 200 calories per day or go to http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm to calculate your needs. You only want to use that site for your maintenance calories. Once you get those you subtract 500 calories per day to lose 1 lb per week.

Let me know what you come up with,

Re: Day 16 on Alli...No Change

Thanks for the advice Betty, I've changed my goal to 17g Fat per meal and 1600 Cal. per day. I'm a pretty solid women, and carry my weight well which to me is not a good thing. I'll try this and see what happens.

Re: Day 16 on Alli...No Change

Hi Betty, I think I should go back to the 1800 Cal/ 19 Fat per day. I'm walking 2.5 miles fives to six days a week and I feel hungry later at night. I do'nt want to overeat so I'd rather have enough in my system than overdo.  Week 4 day 23 no changes though, it's a little discouraging. Up 3lbs.

Re: Day 16 on Alli...No Change

I know how discouraged you must be.  I plateaud for four months and then went on NutriSystem this past Monday and have already lost three pounds.  I see why now.  I was eating all the right food before, but just too much of it.  Too many healthy snacks, plus cheating when eating out in restaurants.  You may be consuming more calories than you think you are.  The NutriSystem entrees are foods a normal person eats, just smaller.  The total calorie consumption for the day, including the fresh fruit and vegetables you are allowed, is only 1200 calories.  When I see how much food that is and compare it to what I was eating, I can see that I was way overeating.  You really should try to reduce your calories as Betty suggested.  I really isn't too hard do do, just cut back your portion sizes a bit, and maybe space your small meals so they are no more than two to three hours apart so you don't go to bed hungry.  Save a snack for an hour before bedtime.  I hope you will break through that plateau and start to lose soon.  Good luck!

    Judy
