47lbs off there is hope for All.

Hello, everyone I have not written in a long time, Busy,  but i have been using alli since January 4th and since then have lost 47lbs. I did not think this could even work, but it does, I feel healthier, happier, and sexier. I am getting so much attention and I still desire to lose more. I am writing this because yes it is not easy at all, and trusts me I have messed up, cheated in so many ways through this journey, but the important is to continue the next day. Just be Persistent and Consistent and you will see results. If you don't see the results others will notice. I still have about 45lbs to go and I am simply taking it day by day. Not only do you help yourself, but now I have friends who look to me for inspiration, everyone has had that moment, the moment right before you decide that a change is needed. To understand my journey I will tell mine

Christmas of last year I was sitting in a chair at a family gathering.  My aunt asks me why I was sitting down, I told because I didn’t want to dance. She then looked at me and said “You need to be dancing, you are too FAT to sit” after that moment I lost my mind. It is one thing for a stranger to say that to you, but a family member is supposed to love you no matter what. I cried the entire night and made a vow to myself. After that vow I have not looked back, of course I’ve have bumps, but we all will.

If you truly desire a change it could happen. Have faith

Congratulations for your accomplishment!!!!  Have you been exercising as well?  Just curious with what other changes you have made.

I understand the comment - this past weekend at a family reunion a great uncle (who I thought liked me) said in front of a group of family members as I was walking by with a small piece of chicken (not like I was gorging myself) - "I'd rather pay your borad than pay your food bill" - I turned around and said "That's NOT very nice!" and kept walking.  My mother said it was a joke he's been saying it for years, but how awful!  It makes me feel even worse... and I had been sticking with alli and had been trying to do the right thing.

Re: 47lbs off there is hope for All.

Wow- 47 pounds! It is so encouraging to read that. It is a shame that we do not see ourselves as others see us. I managed to gain 50 pounds after I remarried in 1994 without "noticing" it. My husband gradually got more distant and I assumed it was just because we had settled into a routine. Surprise! One day he told me that he had vowed as a younger man never to have a fat wife. I didn't cry but I felt as if a bomb had been dropped on me.That was a wake-up call. Now, I am very aware of both the toll that my weight is having on my health and my relationships with others. I have 45 pounds to lose. I want to be a good example for my kids and grandkids who are already struggling with weight issues.

Good luck to you both and maybe next reunion, you'll have a comeback for the wisecracks.

Congratulations Vani08 on the 47-pound weight loss.  I love to read the stories written by people who have been successful with weight loss and to hear what the defining moments were.  Mine was a picture of my family sitting at a booth in a restaurant.  I was on the end so the photo showed the whole disgusting thing.  I was shocked that I was that fat.  I remember the booth was very uncomfortable too.  It was not long after that that I got on the scale, saw it read 216 and just said "That's enough".  Funny how that works.  I've been on the program now for 14 months, have lost 53 pounds, and feel like I've changed my life for the better forever.  I still have five or ten pounds to go, but I know I can do it.  I know you can too.  Thanks for sharing!

Re: 47lbs off there is hope for All.

     Hi Vani08,

Thank you for posting your words of inspiration.  I too had one of those moments where someone made a crude comment and it just kinda "woke me up" and made me get myself going on this journey.  I shed tears too and couldn't believe that a family member could be so cruel.  I also vowed to myself that things were going to change.  No turning back...

Have you exercised since the beginning or have you just started lately?  I'm not a big exerciser but I'm starting to incorporate it into my life because I know I need to not only for weight loss but for good health.  Do you drink alot of water?  You are halfway to your goal.  That must feel great!

    Keep on keeping the faith.

7 pounds away from mini goal of 50 pounds gone! Woo hoo!

Re: 47lbs off there is hope for All.

     Hi

Thank you for your inspiring story, I read some people's profiles who lost about 10 pounds a month for 5 months and I do not see how that is healthy.

Your story and success seem much more practical and achievable.

I have been on Alli since June and for the first time I went way over my limit. I'm trying not to get discouraged but I was wondering if you ever went over your limit, I mean over 300 calories, and how you got yourself back on track

    Thanks

by the way, because of how healthily your losing weight I have no doubts you will reach your goal

Re: 47lbs off there is hope for All.

To Southernsweet2008, Yes I started walking at first then it escalated to running. When I cannot go to the gym I do home DVDs on aerobics and weight lifting. I do drink water but not as much as I should, but you have to incorporate food that have water in them and those are the fruits and vegetables. Yes it feels great especially when you notice your changes, and when you inspire others as well. Keep the faith, and do no over work yourself.

To Feyah, yes I have been over my limit around 10 times lol, but the important thing is to continue, one day will not destroy your diet, but it will set you back. The way I get back on track is a process, 1) I look at pictures from before and compare to now. 2) Reading stories and triumphs of others. 3) Thinking to myself that chocolate fudge ice-cream will be there once I lose my weight too, I don’t need it now. 4) I go to the mall and look at possible outfits in that desired size. Yes it is a long process but it works, it is so easy to let yourself go, but take it day by day and you will be fine and because the weight is coming off in a healthy way you won’t gain 20 lbs back maybe 1 or 2.

To All: Have the will power, and think how great you will look and feel just 6 months into it

Best of luck and if in doubt or when in doubt I’m here for all

    Vani

Re: 47lbs off there is hope for All.

Hey I wanted to reply to yours especially. Not only is it painfuil when family members critque you weight it is even more painful when it is done in the immediate family. Thankfully my husband is very supportive...but sadly the weight gain I have experienced this past year has managed to motivate me to keep my disatnce from him. I have lost over 200 pounds and have kept it off for over 5 years this year due to life, schedule, work, school ,kids and everything else I have neglected myself and allowed 50 pounds to sneak up on me....OMG!!!! anyway that is neither here or there what I learned during the maintaince stage of that weight loss period is what keeps my head up during this weight gain period. Others opimions do not count and are not welcomed when it comes to my weight. I immediateley tell people that when needed. How I'm looking rather up or down is not a conversation I will have.thank you is all I will offer as well as restarin the conversation with. what i've found is People will critque you so much that you will exist in the looking glass theory...for those of us who are not sociology fans...that is the theory that we see ourselves as others see us....It's a HEADACHE...Husbands are great but last not forget THEY are not flawles....LOL. The good news is 45 is not 65 which is what i'm going to lose!
