    Re: ATTN: Katie ( dolphin9600)

HI Shelley!  I'm still here, thank you for thinking about me! How are you doing?  How is the Alli plan going for you?  Are you sticking with it?  I bet you are doing so well eating right and exercise-you go girl!  You can do it, we'll do it together!   I've trying to get online.  Every now and then the power will flicker off and then on and it will of course shut the computer off.  Hopefully I can get this update to you before the power goes out.

We are having major wind and rain here at the moment.  Two panels of our fencing fell down-they are made of wood.  I saw our neighbor out there attempting to fix it at one time.  I was going to wait until the storm was over to fix it so it wouldn't blow down again.  The water I drained from the pool....never even looked like I drained it at all!  It is filled back up again and overflowing.  Thankfully it isn't flooding the back yard-yet, lol.  The kids have been out of school since Wednesday-my daughter got her birthday wish of staying home for her birthday, lol.  She didn't want to go to school on Wednesday, her b-day, so her wish was granted.  My son only had a virus, thank God!  2 dozen pairs of underwear and two sheets sets in one day, and he is feeling much better.  He did throw up twice, the second time he never told me about it, but when I went into his room to check on him, he said, "I have a present for you" and pointed at the trash can I put on the floor for him to us if he needed to.  LOL.  He threw up in it.

I took some mini video with my digital camera of some trees/bushes behind our fence in the back yard and how much the wind has bent them over.  It's amazing to watch weather like this and I am glad it isn't worse.

Keep up the great work!  You'll feel better, that's a number one goal for you to reach first.  Get your health better, feel better to look better!

Will try to update you later.

    Take care!

    Katie

P.S. Today was my first weigh in....5 pounds gone!  I know a lot was water weight, but am aiming for at least 1-2 pound loss next week.............yay!

    Re: ATTN: Katie ( dolphin9600)

Thank you for getting back to me.  Good to hear you are all safe.  I'm so sorry to hear that your son is sick.  Poor guy.  Hope he is feeling better soon.

Hooray for you!!!!  You lost 5 pounds!  Doesn't it feel good?  You go girlfriend!

Yesterday I was in too much pain to use the treadmill and I also cheated on my diet. =(  I know this happens at times so I am not going to let it get me down.  Today it is back to the routine and no looking back.  My weigh in/check in is tomorrow.  I actually am looking forward to it.  I honestly have been doing very good on my diet & exercise and hope that it will reflect on the scale tomorrow.

Stay safe sweetie.  I am thinking of you and yours.  Stay in touch, ok?  Until later.  Blessing for a great day!

    Re: ATTN: Katie ( dolphin9600)

     Hi Shelley,

Good job for 'getting back on the wagon', lol.  Slip ups do happen and we have to accept them.  That is why I always allow myself a sweet treat each day, the devils food .5 fat gram cookie.  I have two of them a day and I am satisfied.

Sorry to hear that you are in pain.  Is it the fibromyalga or something else causing it?  Did your doctor say if the fibro. will go away when you lose the weight?  I know your diabetes will get better the more weight you lose.  That has got to be a big plus to look forward to.  Diabetes runs on both sides of my family, luckily I don't have it.  I'm hoping I don't get it.

Well, sorry this is short.  I'm in the middle of making dinner.  Chicken with cream of chicken (condensed) soup, velveeta cheese (4 oz) and broccoli.  I'm also making baked potatoes with it-ok, microwaved baked potatoes, lol.

Take care, chat with ya soon!

    Re: ATTN: Katie ( dolphin9600)

Hi there buddy!  Your dinner sounds wonderful.  This afternoon for lunch I made my husband and myself a whole wheat tortilla wrap with mayo, mustard, smoked turkey and reduced fat swiss.  I even enjoyed a few chips with mine.  The best part of the wrap was the fresh tomato slices.  I picked the tomato out of my garden.  What was left over I ate like an apple.  I love tomatoes.  Especially fresh from the garden.  So good.

My pain is partly from the fibro but mainly from the back.  My back is so messed up Katie.  It causes pain in my lower back, down both legs and also into my hips, especially the right one.  I cry out in pain rolling over in bed, walking, standing for too long, exercising.  It is terrible.  The Dr. has me on Darvocet every 6 hours but most of the time it doesn't do a thing for me.  Losing weight will help take some pressure off my joints but I will live with this pain for the rest of my life.  There isn't much else they can do for me at this point.  I will no doubt have to endure more surgery in the future as the discs keep deteriorating.

I hope you enjoy your delicious dinner.  I will be in touch tomorrow to let you know how my weigh in goes.  Until later sweetie....=)

    Happy Hugs,

    Shelley

    Re: ATTN: Katie ( dolphin9600)

Shelley, my husband knows all too well about back problems. He has sciatica, something about a degenerative bulging disc-or something of that sorts, but he does have sciatica. He has pretty much been pain free for about a year and a half-knock on wood. He didn't have surgery, but went to a chiropractor who specializes in what is called 'vax-d'. There is info on it online, but mainly what it is, you lay on a table and are strapped to it and it 'stretches' your body which takes pressure off the spine/back area giving the discs time to heal. He had a series of treatments over a few months time and it has worked wonders for him. Although it would help if he lost some weight too, and he knows it, but just really isn't motivated I guess. I know for sure he wouldn't change his eating habits-he's a cop, loves his junk food, lol. I do prepare healthy meals and am starting to bring lower fat snacks into the house when I go shopping, so I'm doing my part. And I prepare his meal/snacks to take to work-saves a lot of money rather than him eating out. I'm going to start working out on the bowflex today so maybe if he sees me working out more, it will motivate him some. I may even try to get HIM to cut the grass next week! His schedule is he works five days (nights) on and is off four days, so he definately has time to cut the grass and exercise and help me out around the house. He has only cut the grass for me once or twice in the 12 years we have lived here (at our house-we lived at an apartment the first year we moved down). He doesn't do much to help me out. I suggested he make the family dinner and clean up afterwards one night this past week. He said he would make dinner but he wouldn't clean up. Well, sorry I may sound like a witch but if you can clean up after you cook, then you aren't cooking! Why make a mess if you don't clean it up? I've been showing my daughter how to cook and I make her clean up afterwards. She has a laziness about her too, takes after her dad, lol. Luckily my son takes after me. Although he does make his fair share of messes at times. Sorry to complain so much, but do you ever feel unappreciated at times? A part of me wants them to help out more, but then again, they don't do things the way I would do it, so I would eventually do it over when they are done, still making work for myself. OH, and forget me going on strike and not doing a thing around the house! lol, I wouldn't be able to stand it! I'm not PMSing, really that is done for another month, lol. Sorry for the complaining! We were on the topic of your back...how did I get here to complaining? lol Anyway, not sure if your doctor has heard of vax-d or if it will help deteriorating discs, but maybe you could find some info online to print out and take with you on your next appointment with him. Couldn't hurt to ask. Drum roll.............did you do your weigh in?.........................I'm so excited to hear how much you've lost..................! Have a wonderful day, I have a lot of cleaning up from the storm to do....catch you later! Katie

    Re: ATTN: Katie ( dolphin9600)

Hi there Katie.  I have talked to the neurosurgeon regarding seeing a chiroprator.  He left that up to me to decide.  He professionally didn't think it would make any difference for me.  I will do some research and talk to my primary care physician too.  Thanks for the info.

Hey, vent all you'd like.  I can't relate to what you go with as my husband will help out with everything here.  He cooks, cleans up, mows yards, laundry, windows, toilet, etc.  He is just wonderful.  He says if he helps then it gets done quicker so we can spend time together.  He was very appreciative of that when i was laid up for almost 2 years with the back surgeries.  Now, when my daughter lived here, she was a force to be reckoned with.  LAZY!!!!  I was constantly picking up after her.  We got into major arguments over her laying around doing nothing.  It really ticked me off.  Now she is out of here and has her own place to take care of.  My son is the opposite.  he is a clean freak.  Isn't it weird how you raise both of them the same and they turn out completely opposite?  LOL

I did do my weigh in this morning and I am down from 288 to 283 pounds.  I lost 5 POUNDS!!!!  I am so happy with myself.  Tomorrow I am adding my low impact aerobics to my regime.  I will start off with 10 minutes and go from there.  I am only going to do the aerobics three times a week to start with.  I have to do baby steps.  I will get there.  One day, one step, one pound at a time.  I am not going to overdo it and end up hurting myself in the process.  I know it's a gradual process.  I accept that and will do what I can.

When do you weigh in?  I am stilllearning so much about this website.  With all of the logs, plans, etc.  Lots of data to input.  I get lost at times.  LOL  Wishing you the best today and all week.  I'll check in with you later or tomorrow.  Blessings dear friend.

    Happy Hugs,

    Shelley

    Re: ATTN: Katie ( dolphin9600)

    Hi Nana

I dont mean to be a budinski, but I just wanted to tell you that I had horrible pain in my low back, and hips that kept me from walking very far.  I had to stop every few yards because of the pain.  I started Alli July 2007, and have lost 80 pounds, and dont have any problems with my back and hips anymore.  I take spin classes, kick boxing, boxing, even did a bootcamp, and I'm no spring chicken (i was 20 once but that was 30 years ago :  )

So believe me, when you lose the weight, and strengthen the muscles in your core and lower back, it makes all the difference in the world.  Keep up the good work!

    Judi

     Hi Judi,

Hey budinski all you want.  No thread is private in my eyes.  Thank you so much for letting me know about your experience.  My doctors are hopeful that the pain will go down once the weight does.  Only time will tell.  I am positive that only good can come from what I am doing.  You have inspired me even more and I thank you for that.

Congratulations to you with your weight lose too.  Awesome job.  I know one day I will be where you are now.  Blessings for continued success.

    Re: ATTN: Katie ( dolphin9600)

Hi Katie & Judi.  I hope you are both doing well.  I have been under the weather and feel so blah.  I am also feeling myself not wanting to go on with this.  I am losing the desire to workout.  My diet is the same but I am not taking the alli capsule like I was.  I may be a bit depressed, just not sure, but I am not doing too well right now.

Thank you both for staying in touch.  I come here most days and just read and read.  Maybe all of it is just getting to be too overwhelming for me.  I don't know.  I am just not feeling the fighter I was two weeks ago when I started this.  Anyway, I have a very busy stitching day ahead and should get to it.  Have a wonderful day.  Keep up your work sweeties.  You are both doing an amazing job.  So proud of the two of you.
