Re: Elia, Linda, Lizzy, Patty, Kimberley, Buzz, Judy, Where Are You?

for my broken toes in the past I've taped it to the next toe, then wore socks with lycra that were more clingy to help give it support. at first when it happens i would wear a larger sandal(one of my sons that had the adjustable strap by the ankle and by the toe just on the bad foot, then when some of the swelling went down or if i had to go into work i have a pair of good addias gym shoes that i bought a size larger and would wear them.  i have them under my bed and my husband told me you never wear those you should get rid of them and i said no way as soon as i would do that i'd break 1 of my baby toes again and need to go buy a bigger pair again.

the baby doing good ,they're planning on moving him to a preadoptive home next week. because he's so young they won't offer any subsidy's (like medical insurance from the state until he's 18) for a lot of foster/adoptive parent's that are self employeed or retired medical insurance is an issue, especially when these babies are born addicted they're more likely to have issues and need therapy for developmental delays, let alone have more medical expenses,etc.... i'll be sad to see him leave, i must admitt i do get very attached, but i can't keep them all. If i looked at the scale right i think i've lost 1 of the lbs that i gained on my steroids.

Elia you can do standing exercises in the pool with out having to move around a lot, just hold on to the wall, do outer thigh lifts, knee lifts, hamstring curls, and inner thigh lifts, you can also do big circles and little circles with you legs. and use your good arm and do bicep curls, tricep kick backs, chest presses, and back rows, you can do all those with just one arm.     well i need to start preeping for the party tommorrow, i've got some cooking prep and cleaning i can be doing while the baby is sleeping, hope everyone has a great holiday, and please pray with me that they will pick the right family for this baby, one that will treasure him, and see that all his special needs will be taken care of...

Hi, just want you to know I posted yesterday and found out today that it was deleted because it "was not in keeping with the nature of the site".  I don't know which part they objected to, but I copied it and will paste it in a separate message from this one, and see if I can figure out which part to delete.  Happy 4th everyone.

Re: Elia, Linda, Lizzy, Patty, Kimberley, Buzz, Judy, Where Are You?

Okay, here's most of the message that was deleted:

Hi, it's Friday morning, hope everyone gets to have the day off, and I wanted to wish you all a happy 4th of July. I'll be going over to Renee's for a bbq, and then when the fireworks start (they have a block party) I'll go home and be with my animals.  What are you guys doing for the 4th? The doctor said my toe is likely fractured, but like you said Elia, they can't do anything for it. He told me to take --------- on a regular basis for the inflamation, put ice on it, bind my little toe with the toe next to it to protect it, and elevate my foot. He also suggested buying a pair of those rubber garden shoes  to wear in the house because they have a wide toe base and also so I would quit banging it. He said don't go barefoot in the house and don't wear flip flops. Hmmm, I don't think I can change that behavior, but I did bind the toes and it helps.

He also gave me a lecture on my weight gain, which is up ten pounds from the last time I was there in October, while at the same time congratulating me for the 40 pounds I am still down since the start of the diet. He gave me tons of "tips" for losing weight, all of which I already know because of the education I've gotten since starting alli. Tips like when you go to a restaurant ask to have half of your order put in a to-go box and then eat it later, bring the food you're going to eat during the day to work with you in the morning, watch portions, etc. I told him I had learned a lot about nutrition from alli and am practicing most of it on a daily basis, but I still can't control myself in a restaurant, (where I'm going in about 1/2 hour - to a Mexican restaurant, chicken fajitas, chips and salsa - hopeless).

Charlie and Spencer are doing a little bit better each day. Spencer lets him lay down near him as long as Charlie doesn't mess with him, (which he usually does), then Spencer will growl at him. But he's starting to accept that this little guy is here to stay so get used to him. Charlie is just adorable and very smart. He is almost housebroken. He uses the pet door all the time and has finally caught on that the grass is a good place to go to the bathroom. I still have the puppy pads in the house, which he uses, but i think I will be able to get rid of them soon. I am still locking him in the pen when I go to work, but I think I'll be able to start leaving him out in a very short amount of time, (just need to make sure Spencer doesn't hurt him and that he is completely house-broken). Have a good one, everybody!

    Love, Judy

Re: Elia, Linda, Lizzy, Patty, Kimberley, Buzz, Judy, Where Are You?

Hello everyone!! Hope that you all had a great 4th!! The beach was awsome! Judy hon, maybe my toe continues to give me trouble beccause i am still wearing the flip flops and going bare footed!! I also gave up on the toe body cast 9when you tie the toes together). yesterday I even snorkled, which of course made my toe hurt! But heck, fun is more important than pain! Oh, and my crazy scale was so happy yesterday that decided to lie to me and tell me that I weigh 135.5!! Of course I took those numbers, at least for yesterday I was 135.5. so I know I can make it!! Oh Judy, how is Charlie? I am sure Spencer will be teaching him all he knows! I still keep Mia in her kennel most of the time when I go to work, I call her my disaster pup!! She behaves for months and then will have an "accident" when you least expect it!! Linda how are you hon? Patty, how about you and your kids? Well, I do hope that you are all well!! Love,

    Elia

Re: Elia, Linda, Lizzy, Patty, Kimberley, Buzz, Judy, Where Are You?

Elia Sistah, you rock!  I believe your scale, 135 it is.  It is because of your persistence, sticking with the portion controls, etc.  And maybe, just maybe, there's something to this whole exercise notion.  I can't say much for myself, way overindulged on the 4th, but it was a good time.  The toe is much better after four days of going barefoot almost the whole time, with toes bound, which prevented me from snagging and stubbing it again.  Little Charlie is just so cute, I'm loving him more everyday.  Alas, Spencer still hates him, but he's getting used to him, and allows him to sleep near him as long as he keeps his vicious little teeth to himself.  I left Charlie out of the pen when I went to work this morning.  I went home at noon to check on both of them, and didn't see anything amiss, meaning no blood or injuries or anything, so I left him out again when I went back to work.  If it's still okay when I get home, then he's free.  Oh except tomorow the lawn guy is coming and I don't know what time, so I will have to keep him in the pen all day.  He's so fearless that if he heard the lawn mower in the back yard he would go out through the pet door and would soon become Charlie Chow.

I don't know if we're allowed to print youtube links here, but this is so darned cute I thought I would give it a try.  It's an Evian commercial featuring babies.

Re: Elia, Linda, Lizzy, Patty, Kimberley, Buzz, Judy, Where Are You?

4th of July it misted rain all afternoon and evening, but the food and company was good, i ended up putting them in long pants and rain coats so they could do their sparkles and snaps. today the weather was great, even got outside for a 40 min bike ride, but the day went down hill from that, they ended up calling me and then coming and moving the baby to a different home that the caseworker is friends with, which isn't how it's suppose to be, but i figured she'd pull something she's done that to me before. anyway just down in the dumps, we were all really enjoying having the baby in our home. besides the shaking he was doing really well with his withdraws.  hope everyone is doing well, and thanks for letting me vent. talk with you all soon!

Re: Elia, Linda, Lizzy, Patty, Kimberley, Buzz, Judy, Where Are You?

You know Patty, people never cease to amaze me.  How could anyone take drugs during a pregnancy, knowing  the baby will be born addicted and have to go through withdrawals?  My former daughter-in-law adopted four babies, all from the same drug-addicted mother, but each with a different father.  The court took them away from the mother as soon as each was born.  Why wouldn't a woman like that have abortions, knowing the mess she was creating?  Why wouldn't the State require a person who has done it twice to have their tubes tied so they couldn't do it again?  I just don't understand it at all, but I do say again God bless you for being someone who steps in and helps the innocent children.  I'm sorry you're feeling blue, and I'm sending you a big hug.  I hope the sun comes out today and cheers you up.

    Love, Judy

Re: Elia, Linda, Lizzy, Patty, Kimberley, Buzz, Judy, Where Are You?

Hi gurls.  I wonder what happens to the occasional poster here, (last one I think was Diane).  They join us and then they drop us.  Are we that boring?  I don't think so.  Elia, I'm sorry you're sick, you seem to be having a series of unfortunate events.  Summer is here, you need to get healthy and enjoy it.  And if you are still at 135 you should probably not lose any more, you know?  I know it's hard to eat when you're sick, but girlfriend I don't want you disappearing.  Linda, you just need some sun!  I would be majorly depressed with all that rain.  Last week we had a few days that were over 100, one was 108, so that's the other extreme you don't want.  This week it's in the 80s and if it could stay that way all summer I wouldn't complain.  Well Charlie is back in the pen today.  He peed on the carpet in the bedroom and on the carpet in the front room yesterday, so back he goes.  I'll go home at noon and check on him, he was wailing away when I left this morning.  (He's just so darned cute though.)

After a bad eating weekend, I've been back on the right path this week.  I hope I can keep it up.  Slim-Fast for lunch, yogurt and berries for breakfast, and hopefully I can just have s Smart Balance and a small salad for dinner, (knock on wood).

Back to work now.  Have a good day.

    Judy

Re: Elia, Linda, Lizzy, Patty, Kimberley, Buzz, Judy, Where Are You?

    Hi Judy,

I read your thread all the time. It's up at the top and sort of public, so I don't feel like I'm lurking about in a strange sort of manner. Ha ha  But it is headed with a list of names, on which I'm not, so I kind of don't want to, well, interfere. After reading about all your pets, wild accidents, and lives in general, I know how friendly and easy going all of you are, and don't think you would ever consider anyone imposing; you'd proobably personally bake a pie to welcome people who stop in so they feel especially welcome. So I personally think of you as the girls in a nice outdoor summer cafe at a table next to mine that are really nice, fun, and a pleasure to have around.

There is never a legitimate reason to eat when you are not physically hungry or to eat past satisfaction. --Susie Orbach

    Taste everything; finish nothing.

You keep food from going to waste by putting it on your waist.

You can't eat now to satisfy a hunger yet to come.

There is no trying; only doing. There is no becoming; only being.

Re: Elia, Linda, Lizzy, Patty, Kimberley, Buzz, Judy, Where Are You?

Loveusa, that is SO nice of you to say - and you are right!  Please feel welcome here and continue to post.  As for the title on the main page, it started a couple of years ago when Elia was wondering why a group of people weren't posting.  Well it just kept growing bigger and bigger and the names changed as time went by, and when it started taking too long to open, I started a new one and changed it to the names of the people who were currently posting on it.  Now it has changed again, and it seems like we're down to just Elia, Linda, Patty and me.  We're talking about starting a new one because this is getting too big too, and would love to include your name, and maybe add "Everyone" so people don't feel intimidated.  Since I don't have a lot of time to read and post, this is the one I always try to hit whenever I log on.  So since we're sitting at a table right next to you, why don't you move over and join us?

Today is a good day so far, but danger lurks.  The cafeteria here at work makes killer Chicken Caesar salads every Thursday.  Both of my daughters work here and since I try to stay out of the cafeteria, one of them often brings me part of their salad (they're huge).  Sorry to say, I'm looking forward to it.  But other than that, and I won't eat much of it, I think I can stay with the plan today.  Tomorrow will just have to fight for itself.

    Have a great day everyone!

    Love, Judy
