Hey gals, I actually did write a post yesterday but before I could send it I was interrupted at work (the nerve) and I had to quickly shut it down, and of course lost it. Today if I'm interrupted I'll hit "Write a Post" first, (which is weird wording, why doesn't it just say "Send" or "Submit") . Oh well, at least we aren't locked out anymore, thanks once again to our dear friend Betty. I'm not sure I could stay on this program without you guys! I think we're what they call co-dependent. Can I blame the fact that I have been misbehaving on the fact that our thread was locked? Hmmm, didn't think so. Caroline and Carol, you can blame it on that if you will just come back to us. Caroline, the tea is getting cold!
Nita, you made me laugh with your story about your sister getting her lip done. Wow, I wouldn't spend 18K on that either. I've always wondered if insurance covers any of that. I didn't go to the Kentucky Derby, although I wish I had. Each year for the Kentucky Derby my daughter and I go up to Reno (only two hours away) and spend the weekend and bet the races in the sports bar. It is a lot of fun, but it's a far cry from the real thing. Judging by the crowds in Kentucky I'm not sure if it isn't better to be in a casino. So no hat, no fancy clothes, no Mint Juleps, just a screwdriver in one hand and a wager slip in the other.
Pat, what a wild life you lead! School finally starts and a tornado hits, and then you take on two more kids. You don't have time to eat, girl! Don't worry you'll be doing the happy dance before I do. I have been behaving badly, although yesterday and today have not been too bad, and I'm going to stick to a salad for dinner tonight.
Linda, artichokes were on sale here for .50 apiece, and they were huge. I bought two of them and cooked them last night, had one last night and will have the other tonight with my salad. I didn't think they were in season right now, but they were fresh and really a jumbo size. Yummy, even though I didn't use any kind of a dip for them. Avacadoes are pretty dinky right now but I buy them anyway and usually have a half of one on my salad at night. All my fruit trees (all - I only have four) are through for the year, and my tomato plants are drying up and about done. Now if the weather cools off, that would be nice. It's in the nineties every day and supposed to be in the low one hundreds by the weekend.
Elia, you quit complaining about your scale, or I'll make you trade me. I want mine to say 134.5, that would make me do the happiest dance, (actually that's about 20 pounds too low for me). You asked about Charlie. What I can say is he is a huge brat! A week ago today he was neutered, had a hernia repaired, had a dewclaw removed and had a bacterial infection cleaned out of his ears. Poor baby. That would keep a normal dog down. Not Charlie! He came home with the dreaded cone on his head and I figured he wouldn't be able to figure out how to get outside through the pet door with that thing on. Wrong. He just charged right on through the first try. He doesn't even care if he has a cone on his head, it doesn't slow him down a bit. The ear infection didn't go away, so I had to bring him to the vet today. It's a yeast infection! He doesn't seem to know he's a boy, not supposed to get those. Anyway, the doc cleaned his ears out and put some goop in there that should stop it. She said she could give me some stuff to take home and put in there once a day or she could put some stuff in that would last two weeks. I said please you do it, he is too strong and wiggly for me. He only weighs 7 pounds but he is one feisty little brat. And Spencer still hates him! But guess what? In spite of his orneriness, he is so darned cute, and I just love him. Little Broby, I think I told you why I call him that, so won't bore you with it again. Some times he's Charlie, sometimes he's Broby, and sometimes he's something I would get deleted for.
I'm going to get back to work. I'm so glad we're back together, my sisters, my friends.
Love, Judy
