There is no going back now, I donated all of my fat clothes

So this is it.  I cleaned out the closet, and donated all the fat clothes to our saint bernard rescue garage sale.  There are some nice things there.  Some even with tags on them, never worn.  I bought them smaller, and couldnt wear them, and lost the weight and now they are too big.

Its kind of a relief to get rid of them, and I am scared at the same time.  I never want to go back.

Thanks Elia, its kind of liberating.  I am so determined to stay at a healthy weight this time.  I am staying active, even enjoying a hard workout, boxing, kickboxing weights and dancing.  I started spin classes about 3 times a week, and have lost the junk in the trunk :  )

You are so supportive.  I know I have to place to come back to for help if I need it.  Alli buddies are awesome!

I'm in the same boat as you folks.  I have had to give away about three wardrobes.  Very expensive but worth it.  I have been getting thinner but haven't actually lost anymore weight.  I'm at a healthy weight now and have been for about 6 months.  Lost 83 pounds and no turning back for me too.  Just wish I could get off the chocolate crave.  it hasn't hurt me as far as my weight though.  Anyway, good luck to all that are maintaining.  Only wish there was a dedicated sticky thread for us.

Congrats Dave!  83 pounds is a big complishment!  I've lost 80 myself.  I know what you mean about chocolate.  Its my weakness too.  Sometimes only chocolate will do.

Wow you all are such an inspiration!

I can't wait to give up all my "fat clothes". I start alli on saturday (I gave myself a full WEEK to adjust to the diet), and I couldn't be more nervous. Obviously, I'm worries about treatment effects, but I also wonder if I'll have the willpower to stick with it the way you all have. Congratulations!

ps any tips for a beginner? : )

Re: There is no going back now, I donated all of my fat clothes

Congratulations ya'll and I'm in the same boat--I have no idea how many bags I've given away--everything from coats to clothes.  Thousands of dollars I'm sure.  I'm down now 86 pounds so gone down many sizes--down 5 sizes since I started and completely out of the plus size ones.  I called them fattie clothes.  No offense to anybody--just a good feeling to be out of plus.  Today was a big milestone for me also--down to 199.  No more 200's.  I've been at this now for almost 16 months and know some of you posting above have been at it at a long time.  I know we've all learned alot and I know some of you are in the middle age bracket as I am  lol and I too truly think this time is different--no more gaining back.  I think when you get to be middle age you think differently--alot of our friends are dying of heart attacks and I'm talking people in their 50's and even younger.  Most of it is obesity--sad but true and for me this is not acceptable and my family deserves better.  Bad enough to lose a loved one where it can't be helped but to have health problems because of obesity is no longer acceptable to me.  Keep going everybody.  We are all proving that we can do this--us old timers--meaning been at it a long time.  I'm proud of everybody.

Hey, good to hear from all you old-timers!  I've lost 56 pounds and am pretty much at goal weight.  I thought alli was going to start a maintenance board, but I guess it hasn't happened.  I love giving my largess (emphasis on large there) to charity.  I agree with you, Dave, it is costing a fortune in new clothes, but oh what fun it is!

Re: There is no going back now, I donated all of my fat clothes

Well, I still have all my clothes from when I was skinnier so I'm just going back down in the sizes gradually. I can't wait to be able to go through my closet and give away all the clothes I don't fit anymore. I'm hesitant though since I've done that before and ended up putting weight back on. I think I'll wait until I lose another 10lbs before I get up the nerve to start piling things in bags.
