    Cymbalta, Fatigue, and Alli

Hi, I've been on Alli every other day for about two weeks, and I've lost maybe 3-4 pounds without doing much different except cutting back on sugary things like my weekly pack of cupcakes.  However, I was also taking Cymbalta the whole time.  I take the 60mg pill once a day at different times from the one Alli i've been taking each day.  I'm not sure I even eat enough calories to be gaining weight, but I'm sure before the sugar might have been a cause for fat gain.  Anyways, I wanted to ask if Alli prevents the uptake of Cymbalta in the intestine as well.  I've been so very tired.  I know I already have serious chronic depression, so I do not attribute Alli to its cause, but I feel like I can just sleep forever these days. I guess I'd just like to make sure that my Rx medicine is still working full blast. Watuthink?

    Re: Cymbalta, Fatigue, and Alli

    Hi jamunz,

There is no known interaction between alli and cymbalta.  You should continue taking the cymbalta as prescribed and do not need to change its dosing schedule.

The fatigue and tiredness may be due to the dietary changes you are making, especially in cutting down on the sweets.  Some people do experience withdrawal type symptoms.  But if this persists you need to check it out with your physician.

Alli does not remain active in the system for more than 2 hours and it is minimally absorbed into the body having no effect on the central nervous system, the heart or the brain.

    Hope this helps.
