    total 3 points... well i went to physical therapy today and they advised  me to stop walk/run/jog onthe treadmill, and any other  "pounding " excercise.. i signed up today at a new gym to start swimming and they also have some kind of aqua arobics class.. and i can continue using the eliptical machine and the bike and many other weight machines.. its time to "mix it up" anyway so tomorrow i am gonna swim some laps.. this is a brand new fitness center  that doesnt have any kids .. so there wont be any "cant use the pool days".. they have a sauna and whirlpool too..quite nice actually.. tomorow after work.. my bag is packed!!... kathy

    kathy - I'm so jealous! I had to give up my gym membership - so this exercise is so much more of a challenge for me....your gym/swim/spa sounds amazing!!  Let us know how it is!!!

    Hi Kathy,

    My ortho doctor told me not to do any of the "pounding" exercises, either, and assured me I could still get my cardio on the reclining bike.....I go to the gym faithfully, alternating the reclining bike with strength machines, and have had no injuries.  We don't have a pool :(, but it IS a great gym.  Earlier in the Spring I was doing just walking but OMG, it takes FOREVER to build muscle that way, which is when I started at the gym again.  Our gym has childcare.  I haven't tried any of the classes yet, will wait and do that later on.  Good luck!  Tampabayb

    no weights today... my  new gym is great!!,... i went swimming today and sat in the whirlpool and the sauna..a nice hour of "me time" i am  having a personal training session sat am  and will see what they suggest...

    Kathy - Hope your new exercise plan helps your hip!  Lots of 9[hysical therapy prescribed) exercises and stretches to keep everything strong and mobile ... that's the key.

    Laura - Thanks for the instructions!  I do have mixed feelings about wiping out the weight loss thus far so I need to think about this before I do it.

    Like Kari, work is kicking my butt. I'm working on this huge project and last week I lost a week of production by going to that training class. I haven't forgotten about doing the tallies for this week, but, as you can see, last night I didn't have enough time to do my normal login.  I'll get to the tallies for this week soon.

    Jane:  I think those are the numbers mentally holding me back. I know that sounds crazy, but I look at myself now and I am so much healthier than where I was, and I look at the numbers and I say Wow - then I proceed to maintain instead of trying to continue to lose.  And, my scale died this morning!  Its digital and it gave me an error the first time, so I reset it. Then it gave me three readings and turned off again.  I will have to go this weekend and replace the battery(which I wont have time to do til Sunday as we are heading offshore tonight and tomorrow boating) so I guess I'll restart and use Sunday as my new check in day. Lets hope the lower of the readings I got this morning is the real one!!!!  If not, no biggie, I'll get there.....

    Hi everyone.........well  we finally i think are recovered from the hurricaine.....I was able to come home tuesday.....family got in that night and we got power and everything else back up.....we spent wed,and thurs  cleaning up trees and debrie...worked hard lots of exercise!!!lossed all the food in the refrigerator, freezer and my deep freezer....thats going to be hard to replace ...nutrition wise I have done pretty well.....a little stress eating but in moderation and nothing too bad...weighed in on wed and did not lose nor gain so that was really great news.....thanks for all the concern....and wishes I am  really glad to have you guys as friends....looking forward to an october challenge.....

    i met with a trainer yesterday at my new gym.. i did get a workout in and i did learn a few things.. i was a little upset at the "high pressure" i was getting to have a trainer 2 times a week for a year..yeah.. that would be great.. however it is not in my budget right now and i want to see if i can do this myself..i started this week at a new gym that has a pool and of course they  must all have a quota or something to get x amount of new peple enrolled in training and nemberships..i like the gym but i really dont care for all the sales efforts that are being crammed my way.. ya..you "get" a trainer for an hour as part of your membership, but really only a half hour is training,, the first 20 mins is trying to figure out your goals and what they can do for you and the last 10 mins is about trying to sell you a trainer.. so when they brought the manager over for the final push.. i just told him in no uncertain terms that i was tired of all the high pressure sales tactics and i really only want to work out and see if i can CONTINUE (BEING KEY WORD HERE) losing weight and getting more fit on my own.. i would let them know  when and if i wanted a trainer..and it was not a personal thing against the trainer that i had.. he was great..BUT i am not shopping for a trainer at this time.. thanks anyway  ...so i am off to get a workout in  right now ..and i LOVE the lap pool...i am mixing in swimming a couple of times a week ..kathy
