    have a question about "cheating"

I'm not sure if this is where I would ask this question, please forgive me as I am new & still trying to figure this forum out.

I am going away in a few weeks for a long weekend and I know I will be eating bad, high-fat food.  When should I stop my Alli pills prior to going away so I will not have te's?  Then, how long should I wait after returning before startin my alli pills again?  Thanks for that advice.

Re: have a question about "cheating"

Welcome to alli!  It's a great plan and I'm sure you'll do well.  Try to take a look at some of the other posts when you have time and you'll see how others have done.

Part of the alli Program is that people learn how to make better choices whenever they are in any situation.  So whether it's weddings, vacations or holidays there are always foods to include, and foods to avoid and eat in smaller amounts.  That not only helps to lose weight but to maintain that loss once goal weight is reached.

My recommendation is to make a few menu plans before you go away so you can still take the capsules and enjoy the weekend.  Planning to overeat is dangerous because it may begin to set a pattern to make changes only when it's convenient and, most importantly, it's likely to undo all the weight loss that's been achieved.

In the next few weeks you'll know the program and the food choices better.  It's always a challenge to learn a new skill and then it becomes second nature after a while.

If you decide otherwise keep in mind that it can take 24 to 48 hours to avoid the risk of TE's after the last capsule.  It depends on the rate of the digestive tract -- and that varies with each person.

I hope this helps.  Please let me know if you need anything else.

Re: have a question about "cheating"

I can't speak for the person who started this thread and I'll admit I'm not having 100% results...but to be realistic I'm (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) in a situation where I can go out to dinner and make awesome choices and pay for the next two days with TE's....or just not take the pill.  I'd rather go out to dinner once or twice a month and not take the pill if I'm not 100% confident. (BTW:  I am temporarily living in England and some of the safest choices are horrible in the end).

We are taking a short family vacation to Rome for four days and I won't go crazy eating everything in sight...but I don't necessarily plan to hold back on all the good thinks Rome has to offer...when you take a possible once in a lifetime trip it's not worth the regret.
