    Almost completd my first week!

    Hello All,

I am new to this and never have really tried dieting.  I was always one of those that could shed the weight without really trying... But, as we all do, I have gotten older and now I can see that it is harder to shed the weight, so I am trying Alli.  Again, almost one week down.  I have tried to limit the snacking and overeating but I haven't noticed any of the dreaded "Treatment Effects".   No urgency, pain or anything.  Whats up with that?  I do admit that with my schedule I often do not eat a breakfast so I am usually only taking Alli 2 times per day.  Is this bad?  I am trying to stick with the rules as much as possible (i.e. dont take a pill if you are not eating fat.)

    Any suggestions is appreciated,

Re: Almost completd my first week!

     Hi Civy,

Pardon the intrusion into the mens' post.  I'm looking around here because I have a male friend who wants to try Alli and I was curious to see what kind of support buddies were around for men.  Apparently not too many and that's sad!

I'd like to say a few things to you, being an "old timer" of 3 months.  LOL!

First, don't ever skip breakfast!  Breakfast = Break Fast.  Your body needs fuel to start the day!

Next ... Don't stop snacking.  Just eat the right kind of snacks.  Look at your Alli food plan.  Have some fruit or some pretzels or a yogurt or something in between meals.  If you do that, you won't be famished and eat everything in site at meal time.  Furthermore, your body will keep working, your metabolism will keep working.  Don't allow "starvation periods" but don't eat crud out of the machine in the hallway either.

Last:  TE's.  I've never had TE's.  Not once.  I've gone over fat grams now and then.  But I drink lots of water and make sure I have lots of fiber in my diet.  Fiber from things like raw fruit, veggies with the skin on like cucumbers and zucchini and carrots, oatmeal, quinoa, whole wheat bread.  Bread with the highest fiber content I can find.  Orowheat makes a 45% of your daily needs WW bread which is very good.

If you eat a meal with 5 gm of fat or less, you don't need to take a capsule.  I can't think of many occasions when a meal I eat doesn't have at least that unless it's just plain oatmeal made with water.  Don't forget to add the fat grams from cream you put in your coffee and that kind of thing.

And the finally "last but not least", most of us are women in the age forums below and the want to lose X pounds forums below, but we welcome men.  Support is so important.  You're not out there alone.  Every single person posting here needs to address weight and diet and health.  Join us below and post as much as you can.  We all have all kinds of ideas about how to overcome obstacles and also cheer your success!

    Mary

    Hi civy,

There don't seem to be many guys on the board active at this time, but if you need feedback from another guys perspective as you do this, I'm just a week behind you in starting the program.  However, I actually tried Alli last year with success so I've been through the steps before.  I went from losing 2lbs a month before alli to losing 3lbs a month during the four months I used Alli and got my weight down to 148lbs before stopping.  I also did weight lifting and aerobic exercise during the program last year which slowed my weight loss but had me in clothes I hadn't worn in 10 years by the end.  My problem was I didn't maintain what I learned during the program was I stopped the pills so I'm back starting at 168lbs this time.
