SEVENTH WEIGH IN...SEVENTH TIME NO WEIGHT LOSS

I had my 7th weigh in this week and I'm still at a no weight loss status. I run or walk six days a week, journal everything I put in my mouth, take Alli as directed, watch my fat and calories drink lot's of water and still nothing.   I know things don't happen overnight but come on, I've been following the program since July 29th, I should see something by now. I am very patient and want to stick with it but I'm starting to believe Alli is causing me to gain and maintain my weight, I had the same 3lb gain since starting Alli for the last 6 weeks. I have the faith and I'm motivated, waht more does it ake for Alli to work????

    I am highly favored !

    Hi Favored13,

I am sorry to hear that you are still not having any success with this. As I have mentioned in other posts to you, weight loss is all about calories. Alli will not cause you to gain weight, but consuming too many calories will. The fact that you are stil not losing means that you are consuming too many calories for your body. You can cut back by 200 calories or go to http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm to get your maintenance calories. Once you have that number you subtract 500 calories per day to lose 1 lb per week. If you have already done this and are still not losing then I recommend that you make an appointment to see your doctor. There are medications and medical conditions that could interefere with weight loss so that may be what is happening with you.

    Keep me posted,

    Betty Kovacs, MS, RD

Re: SEVENTH WEIGH IN...SEVENTH TIME NO WEIGHT LOSS

Betty, Freedieting says my caloric intake should be 1790, I'm usually under 1800. I keep track of everything I put in my mouth. I use the Fit Day for logging, I take all the information off the food label that I am eating so it is exact. I do'nt understand what the problem is. I'm 5'7, 216lbs. definately obese, my waiste is 35.  I run or walk at least 1.8 miles, 5 days a weeks.

    I am highly favored !

This must be very frustrating and I feel for you! I have one suggestion though. Walking or running 1.8 miles a day, 5 days a week is not really a lot of exercise. I don't know what kind of work you do but if it is sedentary this 1.8 miles may be just getting you up enough to equal out a slightly more physical job. Try increasing your walking/running by 10% a week. That is a safe increase. Also, it doesn't really matter if you walk or run. A one mile walk and a one mile run burn almost the same amount of calories, walking just takes longer. So aim for distance, not speed at this point.

Currently, you are walk/running 9 miles a week. Next week make it 9.9 (just add .18 miles to each walk/run). The week after go to 10.9, etc. I think this will make a difference for you! I hope it does!!!
