    still a little confused

    im still a little confused about fat not totally 30% of your meal. My breakfast guidelines are approx 300 calories and 9grams of fat. Which i understand, but 30% of 300 calories is 90 isn't it? It isn't adding up to me, so i'm just trying to stay around 10-15 grams of total fat per meal. That should work right?

     Your math is correct but that is 90 "calories" from fat which would be the equivalent of 9 grams of fat.

    There are a couple of posts at the beginning of this thread that explain the importance of eating the suggested calories and fat.  The program works best when you stick to the suggested intake.

     Hi angelalangbehn,

    The numbers may be confusing but they are there as a guide and it may be easier to see it as an approximation rather than precise target each time.

    You are right with planning your meals around the fat content first. Each gram of fat is 9 calories. Second you want your meals to stay under 500 calories.

    The breakfast example: 300 calories.  30% fat calories is 90.  if your meal contains 9 grams of fat (9 X 9) this equals 81 calories from fat which is close enough to 30%.

    Hi Angela---

    I found it to be critical that I meet the recommended fat GRAMS per meal, otherwise I am eating too many calories that are lowfat, which Alli can't block, and then I don't lose weight.  On this plan, less fat is not the goal, balanced fat is.  Hope this helps.  Tampabayb
