20lbs heavier after painful divorce that .. uggghhh!!!!

Hi.. I am just starting with Alli and feel pretty good so far.. its only been a week 1/2 ...  I am open to any advice anyone is willing to give.  I have been struggling with the 20lbs I gained recently going through a very stressful divorce... would go from not eating to maybe once a day to a huge meal.. so I know my metabolism is all over the place.. looking for similiar friend who have gone through the same ordeal... I am here fo support if others need me too :)  I have always been physically fit and this extra weight has really brought me down and my self esteem.. being only 5'3.. it makes a big difference on me.. and not to mention my ex left me for a much younger woman.. its not even been a year and he is remarried and expecting a baby.. I know this has so much to do with my weight, eating habits and I want to get back on track because at this point I said to my sister.. I cant even stand myself.. ughhh!  So if anyone has a similiar situaion reply..:)  Have a great Saturday night..

    Hi Annie,

Congratulations on joining Alli. I'm sorry to hear of your divorce.  It seems it only takes men a nanosecond to get over a relationship, for women it's MUCH longer.  Weight gain always diminishes self-esteem.  And I've found that poor diet sends my emotions on a roller-coaster right at a time when I need my wits about me.  Tomorrow will make 4 months for me on Alli and I've lost 30 pounds.  Familiarize yourself with the website and read the info from the professionals on here---the dietician, pharmacist and fitness expert.  It's critical that you meet your fat grams for lunch and supper, otherwise you will have too many calories from low-fat foods, which Alli can't block,  and you won't lose weight with Alli.

They have different forums on here for different age groups if you're interested in checking that out, also.  There is a lot of support on here, just find a group that you relate to and you're on your way.  Best of luck to you!  Tampabayb

Hi Annie - omg - i know exactly how you feel!  I was married for 21 years and went through an ugly divorce.  my ex-husband remarried the woman he was with while we were married (also younger than me).  Within a year - they had a baby.   The next year, baby #2.   At first, i was really depressed and didn't eat much and lost weight.  then - stress eating and binge eating.  disaster!  i gained about 30 lbs in a year and 1/2.  i avoid mirrors because i can't stand the sight of myself.  i don't fit in my old clothes and really don't want to invest in large clothes.  My ex was super critical so while we were married i was pretty thin.   i think i almost got to a point where i thought i'm going to find someone who will love me regardless of how i look.   i finally did and we're very happy.  as he and i travel and enjoy doing things, my ex is raising a new family.  so - now i just want to look and feel better for me.  i've tried every diet on the planet and am struggling.   i finally decided to try alli and frankly, i'm nervous about it.  i decided to start this week by eating the proper diet between now and friday and starting the pills friday night.   the side effects scare me!!!

i would love to have someone like you to help each other through!   Good luck to you - trust me, your life will only get better!!!   Annmarie

Re: 20lbs heavier after painful divorce that .. uggghhh!!!!

I want to start by saying I know exactly how you feel.  I was only married for 5 years, but I was with my husband for a total of 9.  He cheated on me a couple of times, which always stressed me out and I'd stop eating (lose weight), then he'd seem to get better and I'd put it all back on.  The last time it happened though, he decided to stay with the new woman.  I was so devistated I lost about 15 pounds the first month.  Since then, we have filed for divorce, which has been very bitter and heart-breaking... however, I have also put on 30 pounds.  That's 30 pounds from February 2008 to December 2008!  My doctor is even shocked.  So I've finally decided to do something about it, ALLI!

I'm 5'4'' and like to weigh about 125 when possible.  My current weight it 154!  Shall we do this together? :o)
