    Secret to minimizing treatment effects?

I have been on alli for two weeks.  I have not had any treatment effects even though I have eaten meals with greater than 30% fat.  Due to IBS, I have taken Metamucil daily for years,  it is possible that the extra fiber helps control the alli treatment effects?  I like to watch my carb intake, so I often hit about 50% fat in a meal just to keep the carbs low.

    Hi JacciJo,

Fiber has shown to help control treatment effects.  It is recommended to increase fiber while taking alli for not only this reason, but also fiber is healthy and it fills you up with few calories , allows you to feel satiated as well as balancing blood sugar levels.  People with IBS though do seem to benefit and aleviate symptoms when they are following a lower in fat diet.  Not overdoing the carbs is good, since this is all about balance, it is the type of carbs that matter also.

    Hope this helps.
