    Re: Maintenance Forum

My original goal was 140, I dropped that down to 135 and I go between 136-138 for the past two months.

When I sign in alli has me checking in every two weeks, don't know if that is a glitch and it has me at "next stage".

So I don't really know what is happening.

I guess I'll just keep doing what I'm doing, I've upped my workout time when I added the wii fit, that just got tacked on to the other stuff I was doing.

But really, taking alli and running 79 minutes a day?  That's over 7 miles.  That would just about ruin my knees.

Made my goal - 135 lbs!!!

And I have a waistline again!  And I'm back to checking in every week, I guess the last time giving me two weeks was just a glitch.  Love seeing that graph go down.

Hello all.  Congratulations on reaching your goals.  I know it must feel wonderful.  If you had one thing that you learned on the Alli plan that really helped, what would it be?  Inquiring Newbie Minds would like to know.....  :)

    Re: Maintenance Forum

What have I learned?  Portion size.  When I go out to eat I usually end up bringing home half of my entree.  And I'm dedicated to my food and exercise journal.  And honest to a fault even though some days looking back at what I ate the day before makes me cringe and ask myself "just what were you thinking?"

Expecting the snowplow guy to come down our road today, baked a pan of brownies.  Didn't lick the pan, the spoon, the knife or even my fingers.  I haven't baked brownies or cookies since March so this was a good test.  But I also know myself well enough to not do too many tests.

And these boards are great.  You look at food sometimes and go do I really want to come onto this board and say I ate so and so?  First time I've ever lost weight with a support group.

    Re: Maintenance Forum

Have all you fellow maintainers made any New Years resolutions to keep the weight off?  I have been doing great so far and fully plan on taking it forward into the new year as well.  My new goal in maintaining is not only to keep my weight stable but to become healthier through better eating habits and keeping my exercise routine up.  I hope all of the Alli family members have a very merry losing year(weight that is).  Good luck to everybody!

    Re: Maintenance Forum

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, Dave, I have gained nine pounds during the last six weeks, and have just blown all caution to the wind.  I just purchased another bottle of alli (have been off it for awhile) and effective Monday, January 5, am going back to the plan, including journaling everything I put in my mouth.  I've worked way to hard to lose the weight to put it back on again.  I have to admit I have enjoyed this respite, but I know it's not the way to live the rest of the year.  You sound like you're doing great and won't have a problem continuing into 2009.

    Re: Maintenance Forum

Still journaling, still mostly eating right and still working out.

This is the hard part for me.  It seems easier when you have a goal to lose, but a goal to stay in place?

    Re: Maintenance Forum

Maybe the secret to maintaining is actually doing the things that got us down to the weight we are at now.  At some point, the weight loss will stop and the body will adjust and our weight will stay where it is.    If a person maintains a 1500 to 1800 calorie diet, down the road, the metabolism will not allow our bodies to keep  losing or gaining weight.   As long as we eat healthy and smart, I think we all will be in good shape.  I don't ever recall there being a lot of overweight American Indians back in the 1800's or soldiers during the Civil war.  Maybe a stretch, but I think you get my meaning.  I still think being active is a major factor in this whole equation though.

And, Its actually kind of fun for me to find low fat, low calorie foods that taste good.  A nice challenge.  Lots of surprises out there and a good way to try new and different foods. Just my two cents!  Like the old saying goes," Fat's where its at, but thin is in".  Actually, overweight people say that phrase in reverse.

    Re: Maintenance Forum

I've added about 15-20 minutes to my weight program.  Still journaling but trying to see what I can add to my meals.  I'm not sure why this program still has me at 1,600 calories unless it's because of the exercise.  I don't eat that many though.
