    Re: Maintenance Forum

I hit my goal on Christmas Day 2008.  Maintaining my weight, continuing my workouts and even increasing in some areas.  I got the My Fitness Coach for my wii and that is a heck of a workout.  And it changes from one workout to the next.

    Re: Maintenance Forum

I maintain my 83 pound loss by exercising 3 times a week and using portion control.  I still shoot for low fat and low calorie food, but I've been maintaining for quite awhile now and I can pretty much eat comfort food occasionally without gaining weight.  I really have changed how I eat though.  Like they say, its a lifestyle change that I pretty much stick to.

    Re: Maintenance Forum

I know what you mean about the "not cheating".  I was looking over my food journal from the summer and boy am I impressed with how on-track I was.  Can't say that 100% now.  I'm maintaining mostly because I've upped my workout intensity.

    Re: Maintenance Forum

     Hi-

I just read through this whole thread, as I am confident that I will be posting on this thread in a few months!  I am somewhat baffled that there is no support from the moderators for maintenance!  That is the most important part- it seems that you all are finding your way, but, it just seems there should be more support in this area.  It seems that the goal should be to stop taking Alli altogether - but- exactly how much calories and fat should be consumed is the question.  Who is still taking Alli?  What calories/fat intake are those who do not take it consuming???

    Re: Maintenance Forum

You've asked the magic question regarding the lack of support from the mods for maintenance.  I personally don't take Alli anymore and haven't for several months.  I maintain my weight by exercise and portion control.  I don't keep a journal, actually, never have, and really don't monitor the calorie and fat intake other than to use common sense.  I eat a lot more vegetables and fruit and very little red meat.   I like chicken and fish more anyway.  I've gained about 6 pounds since being officially off of Alli, but that weight is muscle.  My waist size is still 34 and I still wear size medium 15 1/ 2 shirts.  When I lost 83 pounds, I lost a lot of muscle mass too.   I'm just replacing fat with muscle.  Anyway, I still buy lite everything as far as food goes.  Or at least try to .  I really believe that a good exercise program and portion control are key to maintaining.  Its ok to induldge once in awhile but common sense, exercise, and portion control should keep anybody healthy.  Just my $.02.

    Re: Maintenance Forum

    Dave-

Thanks for your response- I just want to make sure that this time I go all the way with the weight I need to lose, and maintain it, and I am so afraid that I will re-gain  that weight again.  I just wanted that reassurance that this can be done and that I will not have to take alli forever.  You're right about portion control and just plain common sense when making food choices-

Actually, the input on this thread from people like yourself is much more inspirational and informative than anything that the moderators could offer- so thanks everyone!

    Re: Maintenance Forum

    Hi Everyone,

I am a moderator on here and my job is to respond to posts on the boards that I am assigned to. I do not work on any other part of this site, but do meet with the people who do. I gave you all my word that I would not forget about everyone who has reached their goal weight. I have been working on ideas for what can be done on here. I know that everyone at GSK wants more for all of you so they are listening to the ideas. I will let them know that more people are joining and express your frustrations to them.

I am here to help in any way that I can and hope that you all know that.

I'll get an update to you on where things stand ASAP,

    Re: Maintenance Forum

Betty- thank you- I hope you didn't take my last post the wrong way- it was just that I was quite surprised that there was not a plan for maintenance in place, but, just wanted to state to those that started this post that their posts were very informative and inspirational, I am very grateful for all the help in other areas on this site- you are always very quick to respond and I am very happy that you and the people from GSK are working on this!

    Re: Maintenance Forum

On my page now it's talking about calorie gap etc to be made up with exercise.  Mine would have me running 10 miles a day if I don't take alli.  Really, that is so not doable, I would have no knees left with a couple of months.

Count me in on the portion control. and working out.

    Re: Maintenance Forum

Just wanted to say Hi and see how everyone was doing??!! I am doing great! Hanging about 125 but can vary(like Dave mentioned) 1-4 pounds.... I am still taking a pill if I have to eat a high fat meal(yes it does happen on occasion) so I keep a small bottle with me. I exercise usually 4 times a week... I have noticed however that If I eat more than my 1200 calories I will gain a pound or so... I know that for maintenance a pound is no big deal but I would love to be able to maintain at like 1400 calories! Are the rest of you maintainers able to more calories on a daily basis? Are you doing a higher intensity workout to make up the difference? Hope everyone is doing well!

    Re: Maintenance Forum

They have me at 1,400 calories.  But I work out 7 days a week.  I know I should take a day off but I end up doing something every day even if it's not a lot.  Just to ingrain the habit I guess.  My weight goes from 133 to 137 for no rhyme or reason that I can see.

We have a few trips planned for this summer which frankly have me nervous.  Two of the places we are staying do have a fitness center so my workout clothes are coming with me.
