New & need your advice Please!!!!!!!

Hello to you all.I have been working for a few months now with a dietician along with going to the gym and so on.I have lost 0 pounds! I have had all blood test done and they are at a loss as to why I cant lose weight.I eat about 1200-1500 cals and about 6-8 grams fat per meal and 64 oz water a day. My dietician has said last resort take Alli.

Any advice as to whats going on, any one here have the same problem???? Do you think Alli is gonna work since I AM already eating healthy and nothing is working? I just dont know what to do.I am also scared of teh side effects.I teach school and cant leave the room hardley ever.Iknow its about eating right to prevent side effects but I still worry even though I eat right.

Any help or advice???????I do have my ali on my desk now :)

Re: New & need your advice Please!!!!!!!

Well I'm not the one to give you advice, because alli worked great for me.  Betty will help you with everything, but I wanted you to know your concerns are being heard, and somebody here will always have great advice for you.  My suspicion is that you are eating more calories than you think.  I do it too!  I eat way too much fruit and low-calories snacks, and while they are healthy, it's all about the calories adding up.  Try honestly writing every mouthful down for a few days and see what you come up with.  Other than that, at least you are eating healthy and that can never be bad.

    Good luck!

    Hi Tonia,

I will do everything that I can to help you with this. Let's start with finding out what you need to eat in terms of calories, fat, carbohdyrates, and protein. You can take a look at the two posts that I have on the beginning of this board about calories and fat to figure this out yourself or you can send me the information to figure it out. I would need to know your gender, age, height, weight, and activity level. Also let me know if there are any medications that you are taking.

We'll figure this out so hang in there,

     Welcome!

I just want to say that I was also very nervous about the TEs, but I have been on alli for two months now and haven't had any problems whatsoever. None. I do monitor and write down every bite I put in my mouth, which takes self-discipline and time, but I learned a lot of things that I thought I already knew by doing that.  I think of the threat of TEs as a benefit of alli: it keeps me honest.

Are you exercising?  I go to the gym 240 minutes a week (4 hours) because I am over 40, and I only lose 2 pounds a week---but it increases flexibility and helps make up for the days I go "over" my food plan :)  Tampabayb

I'll be 53 next week, can I just say I'm over 40????  I probably work out 8+ hours a week.  But I have an advantage, I have a home based business so I can fit my work out in when I want to. It can be a slow journey sometimes but you can make it.

I write down EVERYTHING I eat, also, and I'd be lost without it.  I read an article that said "Write off your weight" which quoted a study that people who keep a food diary lose twice as much weight as those who don't.....I'm in it to win it, so I write, write, write!  Tampabayb

    Hi Tlc73,

There are a couple of things missing for me to determine your calorie needs. Why don't you go to http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm and enter in your information. All that you want to do is get your maintenance calories from that site. Once you have that you subtract 500 per day to lose 1 lb per week.

Let me know what you come up with on there,
