How long do the TE's Last

Okay, I have been having some TE's yesterday and today. I have been SOOOOOO good today, even starting last night with dinner. But now it is nearly bed time and I am still suffering. WHAT GIVES? How long does it last? Or could it be that the Alli program has me on too high of calories and fat?

It is nice to see Alli working to keep me from absorbing the fat, but I could do without these effects. If you have had them before, how long until it is out of your system?

Re: How long do the TE's Last

Ha ha ha.  I was on vacation last week and hadn't taken Alli for a few weeks prior.  On vacation I was pretty bad for several days and then felt bad about it so I took Alli.  I had TEs for about a week.  LOL...I guess I paid for my sinning ways.

    HAHAHA Tiffany, that is funny.

Well, it isn't, but it is. ;) I guess I need to do some more reading about Alli. I figured it would happen when the meal was being digested, but I didn't think it would last for more than just a day if the rest of the meals are within plan and good. I am still having them today and I was REALLY REALLY good yesterday and today. I didn't think I had slipped up THAT bad the days prior. UGH! I am still having the TE's again today too. *sigh*

     hey "myangelkelsi",

i hope you are feeling better. i'm glad to say i haven't had any T.E.'s. unfortunately, this doesn't help me answer your question as to how long they last. i've read other posts that really give quite varied information.

i think it can be a very personal thing; meaning that everybody's body can and will respond differently. this includes how quickly (after a high fat meal) you'll have your T.E.'s and how long it will last once it's occured.

mostly, i just hope you're feeling better. i would guess, since you've been so good yesterday and today, you should just about be over "it".

i guess this is why i've read other posts that say if you have a T.E. it will discourage you from exceeding fat grams again. t.e.'s are uncomfortable.

    ;-)

Thanks. And yes, it really does make you stop and think before you put anything in your mouth. :) HAHAHA Luckily, I haven't had any discomfort, at least nothing painful. Just more of a bother I guess.

Re: How long do the TE's Last

    Hi MyAngelKelsi,

There isn't a specific amount of time that the treatment effect will last. Treatment effects MAY occur 24 to 72 hours after consuming excess fat. They are not guaranteed to happen so each time that you go above your recommendations you may experience this. Once the effect starts you can't stop it until you have excreted all of the oil that you consumed. This means that the length and severity will depend on your digestive tract and the amount of fat that you consumed.

    Does this make sense?

Re: How long do the TE's Last

This may not help much since I've been following the program for only a couple of weeks and have NOT experienced any treatment effects but I do NOT put anything into my mouth that isn't included on the weekly meal plan provided by Alli.  It's a wonderful tool, as they've basically done all of the work for you.  You can even print out a grocery list.  I find that if I do the majority of my prep work on the weekends this helps me stay on track throughout the week.  So far I've only found one recipe that I really didn't care for.  All of the others have been wonderful, even my husband and daughter are eating the Alli meals I prepare.  Who knew that eating healthy and low fat could be so good?

I wish you the best of luck and do hope your treatment effects subside soon.
