     dee, its a bummer when you are sick on vacation, thats for sure..hope you get well soon..i have not made it to the gym.. still shopping for finishing tiles and a vanity for my bathroom..i may have the vanity picked out now..YAAY.. but i have been riding my bike to work every day..still maintaining my weight..actually losing inches..i put on a couple of size 10 shorts and pants that i bought for my march vacation that are literally falling off me..it still seems hard to believe it..i double checked the shorts yesterday..figuring that they were a 12, but nope  10..i should measure again and take my own advice as the scale really hasnt moved more than 2 lbs in the last 6 weeks or so..jane..i hope you did a little happy dance when you were less that 200...  i said a out loud yaaayyy for you when i read that.. its easier to keep plugging along when you see progress..and i KNOW that you will meet your goal..you have that stick to itness..that  i think we need in order to see the light at the end of the tunnel..there has to be a glimmer or its to easy to throw in the towel..you go girl..treat yourself to a massage or a manicure or something...or ...a nice new fancy pair or underwear!!celebrate!!!kathy

    Nutrtition 1778/64/164 Cardio: 10 min elliptical: Strength training: Lower body.  Kathy - sounds like things are continuing to go well for you ... you've really made a lifestyle change.  Thanks for the encouragement "breaking the barrier" did feel good ... I hope my weight stays down there!  Sounds like our son will be getting married in Japan in January.  I'll do something that, for a long time, I thought I never could ... I'll dance at my son's wedding ... I can't wait!   - Jane

    Hi Ladies ... looks like I forgot to change the "subject" on my Sunday report.  Today: Nutrtion 1740/71/133 Cardio: 10 min warm up.  Strength training - I did an upper and lower body workout.  I worked out with a friend at the gym.   First time I ever did that and I liked it.  Today's my birthday, # 59 ... it's a great day to be alive! My husband and I may celebrate with dinner tomorrow evening. Wishing everyone a great week! - Jane

     Happy birth\day JANE!!!!! it is nice having someone to work out with isnt it?? the time goes faster..do you have a  MP3 player or some way to listen to music while you work out?? i find that tuning into a good tv show or some good tunes helps pass the time..i have not been going to the gym the last few days....i just havent had time..i get home from work and the contracter wants to discuss this or that and i have to go out shopping for stuff..i have been getting in a lot of walking though and i have been riding my bike..the fresh fruits and veggies this time of the year  are wonderful also..it seems like i can eat a lot but the cals and fats are low..watermelon, strawberries, blackberries, pineapple grapes, green beans, corn on the cob...mmmmmm..broccoli..shrimp on the grill..thats the kind of stuff i have been eating lately..alot of my 10s  are falling down..i never thought i would see it.. ..i aactually can wear most 8s now ....the scale is still steady though.  136  ...my belly is almost flat..its truly amazing!  i know you will get there jane..i hope that next spring i get down to florida and see you.. ...you will be 2 or 3 sizes smaller  i bet..  keep workin it..dont  give up..(i know you wont)   i LOVE the sarasota area...we can work out together  (yes, i plan that into my vacation.. even if its just walking on the beach..ok alot of walking on the beach...or swimming in the pool...kathy

    KATHY - CONGRATS O N HITTING YOUR GOAL!!  I do hope I get to workout with a friend more often.  I have a headset and I watch the TV when I exercise ... usually the stuff that's on the TV at 6 AM isn't very interesting ... maybe I should get an MP3 player.  I'm still waiting for stuff to resolve itself at work ... I still don't have the demotion that I requested but I'm waiting and I'm working less hours anyway. - Jane

     Hi ladies....

    It has been an awful 2 week summer cold.  I finally can kind of exercise without coughing or getting short of breath.  Tonight i did 1 hour bodyflow class.  Wed is my school night so no exercise!  Thurs we are going up north to look at homes etc (We might be moving back up north).  Then the problem would be to try to rent out our house where we are now. 

    Well, have a wonderful evening everyone.  I'll try to check in Thurs or Fri!

     hi jane and dee... dee, i hope you are feeling better..jane..i have been riding my bike to and from work but thats about it today.. charlie took me to a movie tonight..my bathroom is coming together so tomorrow night is gym night for sure....i had some grilled chicken and rice and fresh fruit and carrots with a bit of chives..its so easy to eat healthy in the summer..everything is so fresh and tasty....kathy

    Nutrition: 1249/33/83 Cardio: 30 min elliptical.  Strength training: just about 5 min of core exercises and then off to work!  Strange day ... only worked a half day then I came home and babysat my microwave oven ... waiting for a repairman.

    Dee - Hope things are going well for you.

    Kathy - Biking, even short trips, is a good thing.  In Florida we actually have fresh fruits and vegetables year-around but very little of it ever has that great "first of the harvest" flavor.  When our son was young, he once told me that he hated fresh slices of tomato.  I thought about this and told him that was because he had never ever tasted a really good tomato (and we live in an area where tons of them are grown nearby, but they're all pretty flavorless!).  Happy Friday everyone! - Jane

     hey jane  well, i made it to the gym today..it was pouring rain this morning so no bike riding today..i have decided that i really prefer riding my bike to work rather than driving..the only bad thing is i cant drink coffee at the same time!  drat!!..well i elipticaled for 25 minutes and then kinda hit  arms and legs with 2 reps of 8 each... then of course my core work..i was there a little more than an hour..after work tonight i went to try to find a pair of black capris or longer shorts.. i was pleasantly surprised that the 8s fit perfectly!!.. i had a pair of 10s just in case..but i was brave and tried the 8s on first..halleluia...i think i am there!!   wow..i am believing it ..now i am gonna work on maintaning and maybe even working on that cushion of 5 lbs..i would much rather do my cardio stuff outside now that  i think we finally  have summer in minnesota  ..it seems a shame to be sweating inside!!  i wish i could do the gym thing in the morning, but i start work at either 630 am or 7am..  and you know with all of this going out i am doing, i need my sleep!!..so after work i gotta dig deep sometimes and make myself go to the gym..its easier to eat  the right stuff right home from the gym, because its fresh in my mind what i am trying to do here..  anyway..you keep it up..i would like to say it gets easier, but i am not sure that would be true..i am always trying to "bump it up a notch"..how about you??sometimes i compete with myself and see how fast or how far i can go or maybe see if i can go 1 more minute..somehow in my head i figure that if its too easy, it isnt doing any good..i know..its nuts isnt it??i know its better than not going...kathy

      Nutrition 1250/52/116. Cardio - 20 min elliptical.  Strengh training - about 20 min on a lower body workout. 

    Nita - I do believe that we're all determined and we will get there ... wishing you much success! 

    Kathy - Congrats on the size 8s!  Recently, at the gym, I warm up on the elliptical machine (about 8 to 10 mins) and then I usually do intervals.  During the high intensity part, I really work on getting my heart rate up in the 140s (I know you're on meds and you can't do this).  I don't concern myself too much with how much the heart rate drops on the lower intensity part but usually if I get the heart rate up for the high intensity, then the low intensity heart rate seems to take care of itself.  On the strength training, I try to increase the weights.  About every two weeks, I'll pick an exercise and keep going back to that machine - I intersperse that one exercise with all the others.  I'll end up doing the reps on that machine about 4 times and then I'll get sore in that muscle group so I'm building some muscle.  I think this is more effective than doing a hard and then an easy workout.  This way, I'm building some muscle in one area a little at a time.  Overall, I feel pretty good about what I'm doing.  I'm going to exercise with my friend again on Monday and we're going to try a spin class.  The last time I tried one of those was 10 years ago ... the class was in the dark with flashing neon lights and weird music ... I didn't last long in that class ... so I hope this is better ... at least I'm trying something different! Happy Weekend Everyone! - Jane
