Kathy - Congrats on the size 8s! Recently, at the gym, I warm up on the elliptical machine (about 8 to 10 mins) and then I usually do intervals. During the high intensity part, I really work on getting my heart rate up in the 140s (I know you're on meds and you can't do this). I don't concern myself too much with how much the heart rate drops on the lower intensity part but usually if I get the heart rate up for the high intensity, then the low intensity heart rate seems to take care of itself. On the strength training, I try to increase the weights. About every two weeks, I'll pick an exercise and keep going back to that machine - I intersperse that one exercise with all the others. I'll end up doing the reps on that machine about 4 times and then I'll get sore in that muscle group so I'm building some muscle. I think this is more effective than doing a hard and then an easy workout. This way, I'm building some muscle in one area a little at a time. Overall, I feel pretty good about what I'm doing. I'm going to exercise with my friend again on Monday and we're going to try a spin class. The last time I tried one of those was 10 years ago ... the class was in the dark with flashing neon lights and weird music ... I didn't last long in that class ... so I hope this is better ... at least I'm trying something different! Happy Weekend Everyone! - Jane
