    92 pounds so far...

I started taking Alli in the middle of August and here it is the middle of November and I'm down 92 pounds...Now I do cheat a little by taking 2 capsules with every meal and I excercise like a madman but I'm determined....My goal was to lose 100 by the new year and I am well on my way to getting there..I started at 360 and am down to 268 as of today with my target being somewhere between 200-220...I have a large frame so I think going under 200 would make me look odd..I feel so much better physically and emotionally...and I have tons more confidence....Now the only thing that concerns me is that while I'm down from a 4XL to just an XL shirt size,I'm only down from a 50 pant size to a size 44/46...I seem to be losing alot more weight in my upper body then in my waist area which is odd because I always thought the weight came off wherever there was the most fat...The only thing I can think of is that I had such a huge belly before and I have this loose skin down there that it still gives the illusion that I have a belly,lol...Anyone know if there is a way to tone or get rid of loose skin without surgery that I can't afford? All in all thought,I am satisfied...

     adam0969,

WOW! That is an amazing weight loss - 92 pounds from August to November! Thats 3 months.  How much are you exercising everyday?  I had not thought of taking 2 capsules with a meal instead of one. Hmmm.... maybe that would speed this up?  I think the presciption strength of alli was about double of what the over the counter pills are.  Have you had any problem with constipation from taking the 2 pills at a time?

I seem to be losing everywhere else with just a little around the belly area which is where I need it the most too.  It seems that where you need it the most it is the last to go.

Congratulations!  I bet you feel like a new man!

    Re: 92 pounds so far...

Taking two capsules does NOT increase the weight loss, it only doubles your risk of side effects and treatment effects, plus it costs twice as much that way.  There are posts on here from the pharmacist with the info if you want to check it out.  Frankly, I've never seen anyone lose a pound a day without surgery.............Tampabayb

WOW How did you lose so much in only 3 months??? You are amazing!!! Regarding the loose skin, theres nothing you can do to get rid of it except surgery.... The skin has been stretched and it wont go away on its own. I would also like a tummy tuck and am going to start saving for one. I called a Dr and they can run around $4,000 in my area...

    Re: 92 pounds so far...

My haircutter lost a lot of weight and she said she got rid of the loose skin with yoga.  But then again she did that when she was in her 30's.  I think at 53 my skin isn't going to tighten up without help.

But I'm giving yoga a shot - doing it on my Wii fit.

    Congrats on your weight loss.

    Re: 92 pounds so far...

     Hi Karen,

CONGRATS on being so close to your goal !!!  I started in late May at 237, am down to 199 now, have not been the fastest one on here but I'm keeping at it for the long haul.  Keep us posted on how the yoga works out.  I'm in my 40s and was worried about loose skin, have been doing 40 miles a week at the gym along with strengthening since June in hopes that it would at least reduce the amount of loose skin when I get to my goal.  When I lost the weight before (in my 30s), I exercised throughout the program and ended up with no loose skin, we'll see how it goes this time.  Tampabayb

    Re: 92 pounds so far...

A lot of times when you think it's loose skin, it's still actually just the fat still left inside that you need to lose. So, don't worry too much about it until after you've lost all the pounds you plan on losing. It will probably look a lot better by then.

Wow! sambones you're doing excellent,  I'm down 18lbs. so far, and I find alli very easy and convenient, it keeps me aware of what I'm putting into my body, I've starting juicing veggies and fruits too, for in between meals.  2009 looks very promising right now!!!

     peace and blessings,

    stay strong

    Re: 92 pounds so far...

    Hi Adam0969,

I really do get how great it feels to lose the weight quickly, but all that you are doing is putting your health at risk and making maintaining that loss very difficult. The guidelines to lose 1 to 3 lbs per week were set for your health and safety. Losing very quickly does put your heart at risk. I highly recommend that you see your doctor and have an EKG done. I have walked clients to the ER with less weight than what you have lost.

Once you have been cleared medically set a plan that is healthy and maintainable. This means to use the recommended 1 pill per meal and find an amount of exercise that you can stick with without having to be a "madman."

I promise that it's worth it to make these changes.

    Re: 92 pounds so far...

I was reading somewhere that when you are heavier you have more blood going through your system because you are bigger and there is more area to cover.  As you lose the weight your body has to adjust to the need for less blood but that takes awhile so you have more blood being pumped through your body and your heart is working harder.

I don't know if I explained that very well but it did make sense when I read it.

I figure since I donate blood regularly that my body didn't have to make up a lot of what I donated since I don't need it anymore.

I did notice this last time I donated I was back up to my regular workout the next day.  The time before that it took me about 5 days before I felt back to normal.  So being a healthier weight and working out helped me bounce back faster.
