    Re: STARTING ALLI ON 11-28

     Hi Danielia -

20 lbs. by Christmas would be a huge goal ... you would need to lose about 5 lbs. a week for 4 weeks straight.  That may not be realistic.  You might want to set yourself some goals and some stretch goals.  For example, set a goal of losing 4 lbs. by Christmas and a stretch goal of losing 10 lbs. by Christmas (you could even set a super, super stretch goal of 20 lbs. but recognize that it would be exceptional to reach that goal).  That way, even if you fall short of losing 10 or 20 lbs., you'll feel good about meeting your 4 lb. goal and more likely to continue in your efforts.

I'd recommend that you go to the "Aqua Band" on the Alli Site.  Read the posts and the answers that the nutrition and exercise experts post on that part of the website.  Whatever level of activity you're currently at, try to up that at least a little bit.  Return to that Aqua section of the site frequently to read the advise.  As you use the Alli and the diet plan, it all makes sense over a period of a couple of weeks.  Best wishes!

    Jane

    Re: STARTING ALLI ON 11-28

I understand your frustration! It is very eay to psych yourself out. For myself I think that by buying the pills that there is no way I want to waste my money! I also try really hard to not think about it too much. I eat right, take my pills, and exercise. This plan really works.... just dont let the "thinking about it all the time thing" get to you. I am too busy to worry about cake, or fries or whatever. I did this for me, and its for life.  Also being short of course really shows our weight... As you lose and start dropping sizes it will hopefully boost your mood and just become a way of life. Focus on 5 or 10 pounds at a time, and use the nutrition log faithfully! Good luck!

    Re: STARTING ALLI ON 11-28

    Hi daniela30,

Thanks for writing and welcome to the alli boards.  I am sorry to hear that you're feeling discouraged and frustrated with your weight fluctuations.  It is very encouraging, however, to know that you were successful with Alli while taking it and that you can do it again!

I do agree with the other posts that it is extremely important that you set realistic goals for yourself.  A one to two pound weight loss is recommended each week, as that indicates you're creating an average of 500 calorie deficit per day, equalling a 3500 caloric deficit per week (there's 3500 calories in 1 pound).  This is the safest and most effective method to losing the weight w/o extreme measures.  There will be some weeks that you lose more, and others that you may lose a little less, but 5+ pounds per week is a little unrealistic.

Take it day by day, making one good decision at a time and you'll be successful!  With the help of alli, a healthy diet and regular exercise you should see positive results.

    Best in health,

    Kelli

    Re: STARTING ALLI ON 11-28

And by exercising you are toning up.  And I think it helps improve your posture.  I always thought my posture was pretty good but I actually had someone tell me the other day I looked taller!  At 5'4" that sure is saying something.

Stick with it, you can do it.
