    Re: 20-something Losing 50+ Pounds

     Hi everyone!

I am 22 (will be 23 in march). I started alli on Jan 19. I weighed 258 and my goal weight is 180. I had my first check in and was down 7 lbs! I guess just by changing my diet and doing some light exercise is all it took. Hope everyone is as ready as I am to lose this weight!

    Re: 20-something Losing 50+ Pounds

I am 23 trying to lose 45-50 lbs. I am down 6 lbs in the first two weeks of alli. I am planning on returning to the gym this week to start a workout routine. I have been walking 20-30 minutes a day. I am from the midwest and right now it is freezing outside but I have adopted a weight loss strategy from a book I read and it has helped me meet my activity goal so far. If I am tired. feeling lazy, cold, hungry etc I just tell my self that forgoing exercise is not an option. If I give myself a choice I will chose to be inactive ( trust me that battle has been fought many times) but if I make exercise something I have to do it helps. There are many things in life that we consider non optional and I have decided that walking for 30 minutes per day/ or 2 miles is not something I am willing to quit!

    Re: 20-something Losing 50+ Pounds

I definitely fit into this group! I'm going to turn 20 this month and I weigh 265 pounds. It's not the most I've Ever weighed, but it's a Lot >_<. I'm making a lot of life changes because I've just realized that I am So tired of being fat all the time. It makes life a burden in ways that only other larger people would even think of. I hate being judged for it so I'm going to change it. I've never had a car of my own so I really have no mobility to go out and exercise with friends and family, but when I decided to start alli last week, one became available to me and I"m buying it and plan to join the Y here in my town. Today was my first day of taking pills (and I forgot to take one with  my last meal of the day -- oops!) and I haven't seen any treatment effects yet. I'm allowed to have 19 grams of fat but I'm only going to do 15 at maximum, and usually I don't hit that maximum. I love healthy food. My favorite foods are vegetables. The problem is that I share a duplex and the kitchen is downstairs and I live upstairs, so preparing foods gets iffy sometimes with the residents down there. Tonight though, I went and bought an entire cart full of healthy groceries and threw out all of my brownies and cookies and ramen and snacks. I'm tired of looking like this and I really hope alli will help me. I want to weigh 140 pounds (I'm 5'2" but have a large and more toned frame than most girls) at my end goal, but my current one is just to get to 160 or 170 lbs. In the past month I've gotten rid of my acne, gone back to college, and now it's time for this extra weight to go!

PS - Does anybody know if you Have to take the alli pill before eating your meal? Or is it safe to take it afterward and still have it be effective? I didn't want to pop one after having already eaten my meal for fear that I'd just be wasting it and they're costly enough to not want to waste them.

    Hi Gaselle,

You can take alli up to one hour before, during, or within one hour after your meal.

I wish you lots of success,

    Re: 20-something Losing 50+ Pounds

Hi, Christa. I became pregnant with my daughter in March of 2007 at a weight of 240. After throwing up for 4 months and then delivering her in November, I weighed 202. I was so excited. I was so close to the 100s. Now, my baby is almost 16 months old and I am back to a weight of 242.

I was on Alli's website last night ( eating a king size snickers bar no less ) and I became really disappointed and disgusted with myself. I went out and bought the starter pack today and am starting tomorrow. I'm done being like this.

We can help each other. Thanks!

    Re: 20-something Losing 50+ Pounds

Hi, Sarah! I've been trying to read a few of these posts and it looks like you and I are the only later 20s....I'm 28. I started the diet part of Alli yesterday and I start the pills Monday. This diet part is tough. I've stopped drinking pop and I've had the biggest headache for 2 days now.

Hopefully we can encourage and support each other.

My starting weight is 242. Goal weight 140.

Hey Paigedaisy28, I am also 28 and re-started the diet last week wednesday.  I got really bad headaches the first two days as well but I think its just our bodies adjusting to the new eating habit.  I also joing fitness bootcamp which starts next monday 3 days a week and plan to use 2 other days to just run. In the meantime, I do cardio 3 times a week.

My starting weight is 174 and goal weight is 140.  I havent weighed in yet but I can say I feel really great this week.

    Re: 20-something Losing 50+ Pounds

You're having caffeine withdrawl. My doctor said it's one of the hardest things to kick. I'd suggest slowly taking yourself off it to get rid of the headaches. Switch to diet soda, or tea and 1-2 per day. This will slow the headaches and still cut you down on the caffeine.

FWIW (for what it's worth) soda is the one thing I haven't been able to cut out and I continue to lose weight. Though I only drink diet soda. One step at a time I guess.

I'm 23 and I've been married for 5 years :) lots of weight to lose but feeling very confident in this plan. Good luck everyone and stay positive!

    Re: 20-something Losing 50+ Pounds

Hi there I'm Nikki and I'm 21 and I want to lose 50 +lbs. This is my third day on the diet haven't started the pills yet. The thing that is a problem for me is I am on food stamps and right now I don't have enough to buy the exact food it asks for like if it says cereal I have cereal just not what it calls for measured out with whatever amount of milk it says. So I'm feeling afraid to take the pills because I don't have the exact food.
