    Where to eat out?

What is up my fellow Alli'ers?  I have been on the plan for around a week and I really like that I have my calorie and fat intake under control.

My Wife and I love eating out and right now the only place I trust is Chili's where I am able to stay around 10G of Fat per meal.

Anyone have any other restaraunts that they eat out at on the Alli plan?

    Re: Where to eat out?

I eat at chain food restaurants that make at least some of their calorie and fats info available online.  I check before I go to the restaurant and usually decide what items I can eat before I get in the restaurant.  For example, Applebees has a number of weight watchers approved entrees that are quite tasty (with calorie and fats readily available). At unique local restaurants, I eat salads or a salad with a grilled chicken breast or grilled shrimp.  If I either eat very little dressing or I bring my own reduced fat dressing (can be purchased in single-serving packs, usually in the produce section of the grocery store).  At buffets, I often eat a big serving of plain vegetables such as green beans, spinach or broccoli and eat very small  amounts of main course items.  Good luck and happy grazing! - Jane

    Re: Where to eat out?

At most restaurants I bring home half of my entree for another meal.  Buffets I fill my plate with salad and veggies with a little space for the entree.  And of course for me I need to leave room for dessert.  I don't keep cake/cookies/ice cream at home, at a buffet I have a little bit of a few items just to help my sweet tooth.

At a mexican restaurant I'll count out the number of chips I'll allow myself to my napkin and once those are gone (usually about 10) then I don't eat any more of them.  No refried beans.

    Re: Where to eat out?

I like to go to IHOP ocassionally.  They have a "healthy eating" (I think that is what they call it) area on the menu where it lists the nutritional values (including the fat content).

I live in my own little world.

But that's ok... They know me here!

    Hi Ms_Serine and all,

Thanks for all the responses! All which are very good ideas and suggestions.  As you all have mentioned, many restaurants provide their customers with calorie and fat content for their dishes.  You can probably also look on the internet for that info. Additionally, I know that there are other resources that supply readers with nutritional value of popular places to eat out, etc. Check on amazon.com...

By keeping educated you'll be successful whether eating at home or dining out!

    Best in health,

    Kelli

    Re: Where to eat out?

I like Chic-fil-a.  They have a really good grilled chicken sandwich that you can get with a good side salad that has croutons and sunflower seeds that you can leave off or eat in moderation.  I absolutely LOVE their regular chicken sandwich and I can still have it--it's got maybe 13 grams of fat in it.  You just can't have the fries and coke!!!

I also like Applebee's since they have the Weight Watcher's Menu.

Sub shops are good too.  I eat things plain anyway so I enjoy Jimmy John's plain turkey slims.  They have "skinny" chips but those you have to watch.  They are only 5 grams of fat--but there are 2 servings in there.  So, really, you aren't saving yourself anything by eating those chips.
