    Re: January Starters

Morning everyone! I started my Alli pill this morning and although I am scared, I also feel empowered. I have been checking back on this thread daily and I am starting to recognize names. Here is to a great day with no te's!

notimeconnie, congrats on no te's! I just started Alli this morning and I am absolutely TERRIFIED of te's! WOW on the weight loss so far! That's definitely encouraging.

bria, Although I already have 2 boys, I would like to have more. I am with you on losing to get healthier for pregnancy. I LOVE bearded dragons! Do you just have the one? We have a sulcata tortoise, but when we finally get a house of our own I plan on owning a pair of beardies. What are you going to college for? I just graduated last May with my Bachelors in Psychology and am currently working on my Masters in psychology. We go back on January 12th as well.

    Re: January Starters

Good morning all!  Angi in Dubuque, checking in.  I did NOT do great on the diet yesterday, but I had an amazing day of exercise, so I'll take THAT success.  Wii Fit has me up 2 pounds.  I don't really focus on the day to day weight, though.  I'm a committed daily (or nearly daily) weigher, and that's all there is to it!

Marcia - thanks for the tips and info on favorite threads.  I think having the emails come to me is all I need, so I won't worry 'bout the favorite threads!  You are a great success story already!  I'm glad you are posting here!

Welcome, Julie - and GREAT SUCCESS SO FAR!  I'm so happy for you!  Is there a better motivation than playing with our kids?  That's mine too :)

Hi Virnez!  We have your back ;)

Beth - I'm back at work on Monday too - so I won't be on here NEARLY as often, but I hope to check in daily at least!

Linda - I think your trip to Boston was a SUCCESS!

    Have a great Sunday all.

    Re: January Starters

     Hey everyone :)

I'm a 33 yr old from Alabama.  I work full time but no kids or huzzman at this time.  My starting weight was 266.8 last Sunday when I started the program.  I just weighed in today at 259.6. Because I am larger, the first bit tends to come off rather quickly, but I know a plateau is coming!!  I have a question...

Today is the day I have set to check in for the program, but when I get to the "check in" page of this website, there isn't any place to log my information?  It just tells me to remember that my check in day is Sunday...

Has anyone else experienced this?  Can you give me some guidance?

    Re: January Starters

     Happy New Year, everyone!

My name is Jill, mom to four (4 months - 10 years in age).  I need to get some of this baby weight off!  I'm looking forward to success with all of you.  I work full time, as well as care for my children (and husband!).  Needless to say, my life is busy - but I wouldn't have it any other way.  Finding time to exercise is nearly impossible.  I live in a rural area - so the last thing I want to do after putting my kids to bed - is to drive back into town to go to the gym.  I'm hoping once this Iowa weather warms up, I'll be able to get out and walk.  In the meantime, I'm hoping some weight will come off just by diet and Alli.

    Good luck to us all!

    Re: January Starters

Hey ... Well I went today and Dusted off my "enemy' the scale..I bet I lost 2 lbs just doing that.. lol.. I start tomorrow along with so many others, and am terrified of the "te's" I work at a prison for 12 hours shifts and do not have  access to microwaves and refrigerators, and the rules for what we can bring in is ridiculous, so it is going to be a huge challenge for me starting there. I go to work at 5:30 in the morning and dont usually get home until close to 7pm at nite, lunch is sometimes at 10 am with no breaks, and then sometimes not until after 3 pm.. so I have to find good snacks.. with no refrigerator handy that is going to be fun.. any suggestions?? Keep in mind,, all containers have to be clear, and they say everything I take including my personal stuff has to fit in.. ready for this.. A ONE GALLON ZIPLOCK BAG..and on ONE of these can be taken in.. I already take in my own bottled water, the water out there sucks.. so ...but the prison food they give us is alway gross and I have usually lived out of the snack machines.. I am not taking ANY money with me so I will either starve or pack a good lunch. I am going shopping today, so I will see what I can find.

    Lets do this

Stop sweating the small stuff. Don't worry about
who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what

    Re: January Starters

JILL!  We have alot in common - I'm an Iowa Mom of 4 too - but my kids are shifted five years up from yours.  80% of weight loss is diet, so you should lose quite a bit without exercise - but with 4 kids, you'll want to be in shape!  You can probably do just little easy things that involve more MOVING until you can get out and WALK - and don't forget that you CAN walk in "decent" cold weather - don't know if you're hit by this ice storm, but there's NO walking outside today here!

Okay - back to creating a budget...budgeting and dieting.  Doesn't sound very FUN......

    Re: January Starters

     Hello,

My name is Analissa I am 23 years old and live in FL. I have two kids, a two year old girl and an 8 month old boy. I just started alli on Jan 1 and I'm looking for some buddies to share my experience with! My check in days are saturdays, although I'm technically not supposed to weigh myself til next saturday....I weighed myself today and I have lost 2.5lbs in three days! I know I shouldn't weigh myself too often but I was just curious. So I'm pretty excited! So far so good. I started out weighing 180, size 16, and my goal is 145 or a size 8.

    Re: January Starters

     Hi,

My name is Janelle and I'm 28 years-old. I live in Wisconsin with my wonderful boyfriend, our cat Nome, and our rabbit Puck. I orginally lost 35 pounds on Weight Watchers a few years ago and stop when I reached a platu. I maintain that weight for awhile but have gain 25 pounds within the last year. My boss was successful on Alli so I decided to give it a try. I am currently 178 pounds. My goal is to train myself to make better food choices so I don't continue to lose and gain weight but my weight goal is 140 pounds. I haven's started the pills yet because I want to make sure I have the right foods available in my home, So if anyone has any tips for my grocery list please share.

    Re: January Starters

Hey Angi- don't rely on the Wii Fit scale- last Friday our Wii Fit said that I had lost 14, yes 14 lbs. in just 3 days.  Unfortunately, it was way off- Alli doesn't work THAT well!  LOL I don't know if we have to re-calibrate it or what, but I am relying on the bathroom scale for more accurate readings.

Truddy- wow, how did you manage to get that graphic to show up in your post? Cool!

It's great to see so many people posting here- very motivating!

    Re: January Starters

Connie - I've been using the wii fit scale for about 3 months now, it's been very accurate.  Dead on with the doctor's office and everything.   I know someone else who experienced what you are mentioning, and they were using it on carpet - if you use it on carpet, you need to screw in the little foot extenders...otherwise the carpet can interfere.  Thanks for the "heads up" - if you AND my friend had the same problem - I bet lots of others do too!

Just finished lunch - Italian Beef Sandwich and leftover veggies.

Hi Laurie!  I would love to be added to your "circle" :)  I posted a couple days ago and have been spending the day trying to navigate myself around this site too!  Thanks to all of you who have added some helpful info....It's all making a little more sense now!  I am 42 and around the same weight as you.  I added you to "my circle" and it sounds like you have kinda figured it out from your last post...yea!  I would love to chat and help keep each other on track.  God knows I need all the help I can get :)

    Re: January Starters

Ahhhh, yes... I am using it on carpet... and as a matter of fact, we were using it on TOP of a rug which was sitting on the carpet and just removed the rug on New Years Eve because a bottle of water was spilled on it.  Bet it was the difference of the rug being removed- I'm definitely going to re-calibrate it, or whatever that's called.

Prior to that, the Wii scale was right on the money, too, compared to my bathroom scale. I should have thought about that. I'm sure the Wii Fit talking scale will have something to say about my 12-14 lb. weight GAIN once the scale is accurate again! LOL

Thanks for the tip- and I just finished breakfast! Gotta love the time difference!

    Re: January Starters

Hi, my name is Michelle, I live in Ohio and want to join the January Starters, I lost 40 pounds two years ago, but due to back problems and lack of excerising I have gained it back. But this year I want to be rid of it once and for all.
