    New Girl on the Block

Hi guys.  I'm new to Alli.  I actually started on Dec 28th.  So I'm 8 days into it.  I have 52 pounds to loose.  I have struggled with the 'loose weight gain more weight' syndrome for 18 years.  Each time getting bigger than the last.  The fear of treatment effects has me watching my calories and fat intake closely.  And the thought of 'checking in' motivated me to start exercising as well.  I really think this will be the best weight loss adventure yet since I am learning to modify bad behaviors and make better choices.  I could use some support and I have alot of it to give if anyone else is new, wanting to stay focused and looking for an alli buddy.

     Hi Kelira-

I just started today. I have a lot more weight to lose than you do, but would love an Alli Buddy!

How have you felt the last 8 days? Had any unpleasant treatment effects?

I made sure to start while I still have time at home before I start back to school on Monday. :)

After a couple of years of giving up hope, I finally have hope. WE CAN DO THIS!

Re: New Girl on the Block

Lets keep each other motivated.  As long as we are making small steps in the right direction than it doesn't matter how long our individual roads are.  Eventually we will all get there if we don't allow giving up to be an option anymore.  I have not had any treatment effects yet.  I saw that the alli pill actually works on th food that you eat an hour prior and an hour after the time the pill is taken.  So I consider everything that I have put in my mouth when I decide to have an actual meal.  I love baked tostitos scoops and salsa.  And if you snack an hour before a meal and then eat maximum fat grams at that meal.......UH OH effects may happen.  My friend was going through that when she started and she actually gave me the remainder of her bottle because she knew she lacked the actual discipline at this time to really be committed.  It's truly a weight loss aid.  alli is for people who are committed to changing their bad habits.  And honestly speaking that would not have applied to me 5 months ago.  I had to get to the point of certain determination.  And I'm there.  If you are there then you can and WILL do it.  You Will :-)

Re: New Girl on the Block

    Hey Gwen ,

So far so good.  I am scared of treatment effects so I really watch what I eat and I haven't had any.  My problem is that I hate being hungry.  So I've had to come up with meals that are plentiful with minimum fat.  And it seems to be working.  In the morning I  eat egg beaters with diced green peppers, onions and ham; 2 slices of wheat toast with that no fat butter spray; turkey bacon and sometimes oatmeal.  That generally fills me up for a while.  Shortly after I will grab an apple to munch on.  It seems like if I start the day off like that then I'm less hungry for the remainder.  I am lazy so my workouts are not very tiring.  It's been 10 days and I  believe the scale says I've lost 2 pounds.  I'll know for sure on saturday for weigh in.  I feel better about myself but I believe it's because I'm actually doing something to change my physical condition.  As long as I don't stop - I'll get there.  And you will to if you choose to.  Let's Do This !!

Re: New Girl on the Block

     Hello ladies-

Sorry I haven't checked back in.  The day I started Alli, my hubby called me, he was heading to the ER.  After 3 days in the hospital we discovered he had a heart attack. Wow!  Talk about increased motivation.  He just turned 46 today, so he is still young.  Too young to have those health issues!

I lost 4 lbs that first week. Probably due to stress, although I did low fat even though he was in the hospital.

I'm down about 5 lbs total. Which for 2 weeks, is fine for me.  We went out to dinner last night, and both made healthy choices.  yippee!

I'm not seriously tracking my calories, I think I need to start doing that.  I am closely monitoring my fat grams.  A good thing I have noticed is that I am losing my sweet tooth!  I had a bit of candy today (w/in fat grams) and found that a little went a LONG way.  So, that is a good thing.

Just wanted to check back in. I hope your journey is going well.

    Be blessed!

Re: New Girl on the Block

Hi Ladies - I just started the program around a week ago and I'm looking for some support too.  I have 70 lbs. to lose.  I've tried other diets but I lose the weight and then gain it back, plus some.  I can't keep up with buying new clothes each month.  So far I haven't had the side effect that people are talking about except for an occational constipation.  I think I need to drink more water and take in more fiber in my diet.  I get weighed on Wednesday and I'm kinda excited.  Good luck to you all in your journey. luvsnacks2

I am new to the program as well. i just started taking the pills yesterday but I have been on low fat for a couple weeks. I'm worried of the Treatment Effects as well. But I am so tired of Yo-Yoing and gaining more along with it!! I am determined to stick with it this year! I would love to have some buddies to keep me motivated!

Re: New Girl on the Block

Thanks Sophia. It was an eye-opener.  Thankfully, he is back to work and feeling well.

We have DRAMATICALLY changed our eating habits. So it is my hope that 6 months to a year from now we will look back and say, wow, that was scary, but look how far we have come from it!

I definitely believe there is a silver lining in this cloud... better health for my entire family!

Thanks for the support on this site.

To the other ladies, I have not experienced the Treatment Effects, just a little stomach rumbling. I am a high school teacher, so running out to the bathroom isn't an option!  :)

For me, knowing there are consequences if I overdo it has been a great motivator.

Good luck to everyone. Keep checking in!

Re: New Girl on the Block

Hello we have about the same goals and started about the same weights too. I'm not so new here I been here the first days of december of 2008 and managed to lose 17 pounds in that 3 months. I still am hoping to lose about 30 or so more to be totally fit by the end of spring, hopefully. The keys are to try to do your best and exersize just abit. Good luck.
