    Re: Accountability Buddy

This is so funny...I gre up in N Ridgeville then moved to Parma when I was in High school. I graduated in 93. wow...small world!

This weekend was hectic. I don't have time to check in because I work 12 hour shifts and usually want to pass out when I get home. Anyways, I lost 1.5 pounds since last check in! Not bad at all especially because I know that I could have made better choices as far as eating. I didn't go crazy or anything but sometimes if I am not perfect then I beat myself up and as I'm about to eat something horrible I'd tell myself "I'll restart tomorrow". Not with Alli! I don't want to end up paying for it...lol

Congrats to everyone on your weight loss!!!

    Re: Checking with my buddies...

5# !!!!    I am so jealous !!!!  I haven't lost anything yet.  Please . . . give me an example of your meals !  I just got to be doing something wrong !!  I thought - for sure - I'd be below the 180 mark by now.  I'm exercising every day !!  Basically, my breakfast is Oatmeal & PB crakers, lunch is a sandwich and soup or salad & soup.  I eat a fruit a mid morning and mid afternoon.  Dinner is my real problem.  I think that's where I need to concentrate.  I haven't had any "treatment effects" yet.  Do you think. . . I like to have a whiskey shot at night . . . is that messing things up ?

    Re: Checking with my buddies...

Congrats on everyone's weight loss! Even one pound gone is one pound gone!

I did my 10th day weigh in, somehow I'm down another 3 pounds. I was really worried because I caved on a crabcake last night and red meat the day before. I live in Maryland, the crab cake temptation is far too great.

Sandra, keep in mind, I have more weight to lose than you. I bet when i get under 200 it will get fairly difficult, so don't be discouraged. Here's what I'm doing thus far, hopefully it will be of help to you:

Food: 1400-1600 kcal a day, average about 25-35 grams of fat a day
Exercise: Cardio/strength training combo at least 3 times a week for about 25-30 minutes, by means of an Exercise TV workout on OnDemand. Strength training by itself with 5 pound weights almost every night.

Yanked this out of my journal:
    "
Pita bread, with spinach, hummus, tomato and cheese (340 calories, 7 grams of fat)

I wasn't in the mood for cardio, so I did about 20 minutes of weight training and 20 minutes of dancing!

On the way to work, I ate 110 calories of pretzels

For dinner, I had an eating right meal (200 cal, 7 grams of fat)
and 2 desserts (200 cal, 5 grams of fat)
    Propel water (30 calories)

Later on. 1 dessert pack (100 cal, 2.5 fat grams)

Dinner: Healthy Choice (250 cal, 3 grams of fat)
Dessert (150 cal, 3 grams of fat)

Totals: 1380 kcal,  23 grams of fat for the day "

This is a day at work, hence all the instant food. All I can say is baked soy pita bread has become my best friend.

Good luck ladies, we can do this!

    Re: Checking with my buddies...

Thursday, I ate light during my first two meals because I had to end the day with a dinner meeting.  I had 2 light beers with 6 chicken strips, a salad and 1/2 the dessert.  Not good . . . but comparatively . . . it was less than half of what I would normally have eaten.  I didn't exercise that day either.

Friday I ate a light breakfast & lunch, and exercised (Leslie Sansome Walk & Kick and 15 minutes of Dancing with the Stars, Latin Cardio Dance).  For dinner, we ate at Eat'N'Park.  I have no idea how many calories I consume!

Today, I ate very light - but didn't exercise.

I think I'll pick up some Smart-Ones or Healthy Choice dinners.  Maybe that will help me with my evening challenge.

Sorry I vanished for a few days, went to DC for the weekend.
Awesome job Sandra! Did you change anything in your routine or did you just keep at it? Either way, kudos!

    Re: Checking with my buddies...

     Hi, welcome home.

I can't believe I did it !!!  I kept my journal all week, and didn't sneak anything extra.  Wednesday, I went to Steak & Shake (committee meeting) for dinner - I ordered the Turkey Club and a diet coke - surprisingly the calorie count is low.  I was on a roll !!!

I kinda messed up last night - I ate a few tortilla chips w/salsa while watching TV.  I had trashed all my junk food - except that one bag (kept it for my hubby).  TIt goes in the trash today!

    Re: Checking with my buddies...

Lol, of all the possible set backs one can have, tortilla chips and salsa are so minimal. I'm glad to see keeping a journal is working out for you! That weight will come off in no time.

i moved my weigh in to Fridays since my trip made things a little out of wack. I'm down another two pounds. i was expecting to see a gain since my monthly showed up. Perhaps that means a bigger loss next week?

    Re: Checking with my buddies...

     It was a tuff week!  I think I'll just say . . . I trashed the whole week !

I had too many lunch and dinner meetings (work related), and a birthday dinner and an anniversary lunch (work related).  I tried to maintain - but in truth - my life is one big eat-a-thon.  I almost resent it.  Today, I got home early (huge winter storm) -  I finished my week munching my 11 years olds school lunch snacks.  I understand why they say to rid your home of all trigger foods.

So . . . this day is almost over ... and tomorrow I start a new week!  I need a plan.  I have another birthday party Saturday (with 5 grown children, each one with a spouse, and 11 year old, and 10 grandchildren . . . we celebrate a lot of birthdays!)

I hope you did better!  How are you doing it ??  It's been a while since you checked in.

    . . . back next Wednesday . . .

    Re: Checking with my buddies...

Sorry, I've been so busy this week! I checked in today and now I've lost a total of 13 lbs! I met my first goal and I'm really excited!

Having so much temptation around you sounds a bit stressful. I would say plan ahead. When I know I'm going out, I try to find nutritional info for that particular restaurant or general estimates on certain foods so I know what to eat and what not to eat as well as how much. You can also try eating before you go. Load up on your good food and tons of water at home, and just have a bite at the get-together you're going to. Good luck!

    Re: Accountability buddy

Hi guys.  I am going through a rough time in my life also and I think this is great.  You know being able to share the problems with each other so that we all can help when someone may need it, not to forget that I need all the help I can get.  All of you keep up the great work.

Any suggestions on this?  I have this issue that everytime I turn around I want something that I shouldn't have but I end up eating it anyways. After doing that I tell my self that I have already ruined the day so might as well enjoy the rest of it and I just splurg on anything and everything that is available at the time.

I do this ALL the time! When I feel myself about to do that... I try to ask myself, "does this taste good enough to be disapointed in myself later?" and it -usually- works out. Then I down a bottle of water.

    Re: Accountability buddy

Hello everyone!  I'm Brandy, from VA and I just started TODAY!!!  Got scared off of trying a year or so ago and decided I didn't need anything.  Then tried EVERYTHING and each time I quit I gained it all back plus 5 or 10 lbs.  Finally at nearly 200 lbs. I got a blood pressure scare and decided to straighten out my eating and life.  Now two months later and lost 8 lbs, and health is fine again, I have decided to add Alli to my life.

I also bought a Wii and I love it.  I had not done ANY exercise with all the other weight loss things I tried, so maybe fixing how and what I eat, along with my Wii is finally something I can work with.  I guess I'll see as the weeks go on.

I'm at work right now but in 30 minutes I am headed home to hit my Wii.  I'll email later how I did.  Talk to you all soon!
