    Food Log

Help!  This new food log system is totally frustrating!  I have been using Alli for quite some time now and since changes to the food log were made, I cannot even find something as simple as blueberries (frozen) listed.  Some food items seem to have disappeared from my list and I don't know how to get them back.  I have read many posts that express their displeasure (to put it mildly) with this new food log.  It is difficult, if not impossible, to navigate through the list.  How can I get my food items back?  I hate to throw in the towel.  Even the "post a message" doesn't have a "send" block.

    Re: Food Log

    Hi thinlynn,

If you select "add item" and search for "blueberries in the "food items" list you should find it. I just did a search and found "Blueberries: frozen, unswtnd, 1 dry cup". It's the 5th on the list.

Also, the post "send" button is the "write a post" blue button at the bottom of the screen.

    Re: Food Log

Thank you!  Would you also help me find food items that were listed in my old "food items" but no longer seem to be there.  There are two items in particular "South Beach High Protein cereral bar" and "Fage yogurt".  I use these two items everyday but have not been able to locate them.  Do you think they fell through the cracks?  Help!

    Re: Food Log

Are these items not listed in your favorites list? When you select the "add item" you should see tab with a list of your favorites, a list that includes the items you've selected as favorites and the items and meals you have defined.

Hi Lynn - It's great to see a post from you ... I hope you are well and strong!

To find your food items that you listed under Alli's old nutrition log, in the new Nutrition Log, select your custom item from "Favorites" which is the tab on the left.  This part of the dialog box doesn't allow you to type in a key word to find an item (I have no idea why not), you just scan through your items and try to find what you entered.  You can click on the "Meals" on the left side and it does sort alphabetically (but if you don't remember if you entered "soup, chicken" or "chicken soup," then you need to scan both your "c" and "s" area.

I haven't found any use at all for the "Advanced Search" that's in the center of the dialog box.

The right side of the dialog box has an entry field where you can enter a key word (such as "egg") and then it brings up any item that mentions that food (egg, boiled; McMuffin with egg, scrambeled egg, etc.).  The right side of the dialog box doesn't appear to have any way to clear your entry, so I just click on one of the other tabs, wait for the update (which is too slow), then click back on the far right tab.  I experiment with how much text to enter and that seems to help.  For some type of egg, just entering "egg" is probably fine.  However, if I enter "pizza" the result is 50 or more items ... too much to sort through ... so I'll enter something like "pizza veggie" and that may give me something like a dozen items which is manageable to look through and find something that approximates what I ate.  Experiment with that and see if that helps.

If you want to add a new item to your custom list, go to "My Meal Plan" (left side of the "My Alli" page), then choose "My Favorite Meals" (also on the left side).  This brings up a list.  The list includes any Alli meal that you ever choose to save and the items that you formerly entered on the old site.  It sorts with the "Alli" favorites first and your old entries at the bottom.  You can click on meals (left side of dialog box) and everything in that grouping sorts  alphabetically (which helps some).  If you want to enter a custom item, then you scroll down to the bottom and click on the spot where you "add" an item.  Then you go back to the nutrition log and select your custom item from "Favorites" which is the tab on the left (see steps in bold at the top of this post to find your item).

There's a group of us in "Healthy Lifestyles" (our old Carol Joy Challenge Area) who post to an "Ongoing ... join leave as you wish" thread.  Some of us post daily and some post a couple of times a week.  If you'd like some support and encouragement, stop by and say "Hi!"  Wishing you the very best!! - Jane

    Re: Food Log

Thanks for your help.  I appreciate it.  It seems to be working for me now, though I have to say it moves much slower then the former food log.

    Re: Food Log

Amen to that! I have now spent more than 20 minutes trying just to enter my breakfast. I give up. The intro page to the Alli website says this website will help us "every step of the way." This website used to be VERY helpful - I rather enjoyed using it, both for the meal plan and the activity log. It is now such a time-waster that I give up.

    mgland84,

Are there any specific parts that are not understanding? Please let me know if I can clarify how to use the new meal plan.

    Re: Food Log

i am having such a hard time with the food log.  i started before the new food log was put into place.  i want to clear out some of my old "favorite meals" as i dont eat them any more, and they havent worked for me.  things in the new food log have a little heart with a plus or minus to add or take it ou of favoite meals.  things from the old food log dont have the ability to edited or deleted!  it is driving me nuts!  i want to get rid of the things that i dont use in favorites so i dont have a list of favorites a mile long.  can someone help me with this?

    Re: Food Log

We are currently adding back the ability to edit/delete the items you've defined. Once this feature is back you will be able to clear them out of your favorites section.

    Re: Food Log

That would help. I have a hard time finding how to edit a food item, or even adding new ones, without coming back here to look up how to do it. The meal plan is no longer intuitive to use, and it freezes up so much that I can't afford to waste any more time dealing with it.

This website used to be fun to us. No more.

I also am having problems with this. The old system seem to be so much easier and simple to do. I like to add my own food into it and it's not letting me.

    Re: Food Log

    lulubell121,

To add new foods, go to ‘My Favorite Meals’ and click on the ‘Build a new Favorite Meal’ link. Once you have saved them, you will be able to add them to your plan by selecting "add item" at the bottom of your meal plan and selecting the new item. It will be listed under your favorites.

This is extremely frustrating...I have been trying for over an hour just to update my meal plan to no avail.  It's very discouraging because it was one of the features I liked most about the site.
