    WYNONA OFF THE ALLI WAGON

Proof she is no better than Kirstie Alley...wonder if she pays her supermarket to shut down while she shops like Kirstie?

This is a BIG smack in the face.

Too bad there aren't ANY "stars" that can do good for all.

    Selfish - Get-rich brats.

    The lot of them.

Just shows that Winona is human.  We all fall off the wagon and try to get back on.   I don't think one of us has not fallen off the wagon.  That is why we are on the web site.  We are all trying to get help from each other.  When I fall off I need encouragement.   So, Wynona, if you have fallen off, lets hope you are on this website and we can all help you back on.

one step to a mile, enjoy the journey God has provided for us.

Re: WYNONA OFF THE ALLI WAGON

It was on the news, and last night her face is on the National Enquirer (dated 3/23/09) with an article about her on page 27 ....there's also the article on Kirstie's attempt to buy the Owner of the supermarket off to close the store for her shopping trips.

    This is just sad.

I didn't even see it - my daughter did (after it was announced on the news)....

Re: WYNONA OFF THE ALLI WAGON

    Hi JacksonAngel,

My first piece of advice is to be careful what you hear or read about in the "news." There is absolutely no sensitivity to weight issues out there. In fact, the biggest stories seem to be ones looking for people who are not succeeding with weight loss. Can you imagine if the media was following you through this? I honestly do not know anyone who would be able to handle that kind of negativity and pressure while trying to figure this out.

I am glad that you are all on here looking for an update on how Wynonna is doing. Here is the official word:

Meaningful weight loss doesn’t happen overnight nor should it.  Wynonna has a great attitude.  She’s all about making meaningful, long term changes in the way she eats and her lifestyle.   She believes what’s important is that she make those changes, and how she feels.   That’s how she is measuring her progress.  And she feels great!

Everyone faces challenges in their personal lives, and Wynonna is no exception. She has won the hearts, as well as the ears, of her fans because she has been willing to confront her challenges and share her struggles and success with them in a heartfelt, sincere way. She came to us because she recognized that her weight loss struggle is one shared by millions of consumers, and she wanted to inspire others by sharing her story.

I hope that this clears things up now,

Re: WYNONA OFF THE ALLI WAGON

I didn't read it in the news - I heard it on a local station off the AP Newswire.....THEN I saw the article in the national kitty box liner......something has to ring true for it to have hit AP Newswire....???.....and NO - I would NOT want them following me around (especially after gaining back the 6lbs I intiially lost from having Sushi of all things..uugghh..) - but it's a little disheartening to hear this....I was rooting for her too.

Re: WYNONA OFF THE ALLI WAGON

I think you're a bit harsh and quick to judge. If she's off it, she's off it. When she's ready she'll get back on it. Nobody is superhuman and we all make some mistakes.

I think it sends a better message when you support people (famous or not) no matter HOW they are doing on their diet. Support is important and if ppl gave up on me the MOMENT I screwed up, my journey would be 100x harder.

My point is we don't need a celeb to keep us motivated. There are plenty of ladies (and men) here who are an inspiration to us all. Keep your head up and remember you can ALWAYS get back on it. It's never too late.

Jeanie - you are SO right.  I don't understand why these "systems" need the sponsorship of a celeb, especially when they usually fall off the course...AND - if they didn't it would be a true miracle.  I always wondered why Southbeach or that new "Structure House" plan never went with a celebrity sponsor, yet there are millions of success stories.

Don't get me wrong, I believe that Alli WILL work, and I was really rallying behind Wynona (LOVE her Mother..), just don't understand why you need a celeb to sponsor a good product, when if they fall off, it's even more publicized..??..

    ...sorry, just MY opinion...

Re: WYNONA OFF THE ALLI WAGON

I happen to agree with you, JacksonAngel...I didn't start Alli because she was a spokesperson, in fact I didn't even know she was...but when high profile people rally round a product, then get bad publicity for not sticking to said product, it reflects negatively of said product.

I believe in the Alli program, it is working for me very well, but I am the one doing the work.  ME.  I am making my choices to be healthy, and Alli is my tool of choice!

I get my inspiration from "regular" folk here on their posts', and by my changes...

Re: WYNONA OFF THE ALLI WAGON

Wow...you are a way better person than I am.

I don't like it when celebs sponsor a product than don't follow through.  It makes for negative publicity.

I have no problem encouraging the "regular" folk who may stumble or fall, we band together, but has Wynona written a post here?  Or is it just her commercials that inspire others?  I didn't even know she was on Alli, let alone a spokesperson for Alli.  I tried Alli because my doctor suggested it.  Alli is my tool, I do the work, and I draw inspiration from you guys, those who posts' I read on this website.

Re: WYNONA OFF THE ALLI WAGON

It's sad that Alli chose to go forward with a celebrity sponsor. It wasn't necessary and it is a real risk for negative publicity. Alli is a great product. I chose it specifically because it was NOT endorsed by a celebrity but had great facts behind it and FDA approval. If there had been a celebrity involved when I was first looking at it, I might not have tried it for the simple reason that celebrities get paid to use or endorse a product so how could I trust it.

We need to inspire each other with our committment and hard work.

Re: WYNONA OFF THE ALLI WAGON

Marlene & Trecia - you are right - and thinking about it - with all the people who DON'T know about Alli and this support forum available for all, there is enough scinicism (spelling..??..) out there about the product - I think I've read at least a dozen times how people bought the product, got ridiculed for buying it, threw it away and then ended up buying it again and have started and are successful.

I have NOT seen ANY Wynona posts, nor any pics showing her - the article (pg 27) said she was headed back to her top weight of 260.  I haven't read anyone on here with those stats...or near them/similar.

I think she's just a publicity stunt that went bad.

    REAL BAD.

....poor choice in my opinion....I too started Alli WITHOUT seeing her sponsor the product - but when I DID see the commercial I told my husband she'd end up the same as Kirstie - I was right.......poor publicity = poor pubilicty.....perhaps they'll pick a medium sized hot blonde to sponsor the product next who "turned her life around".....hmmmmm..??.....would it REALLY make a difference to those of use who are dedicated to a healthy lifestyle - and who spread the word on our own?

    DOUBT IT.

....question - you think the poor publicity will possibly STOP people from buying the product and have a possible whiplash effect of it going away..??....................it's happened before.

I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but I find the tone of this post offensive on so many levels.  I'm not a Wynonna or Kirstie fan by any means, so please don't take my response as if I were defending someone I deeply admired.

How dare anyone sit there and call someone they've never met and really don't know on a personal level a "selfish - get-rich brat" simply because they are not perfect and don't pretend to be?  For you to hold someone up on a pedestal while gleefully awaiting their fall is sick.  Even if they succeeded in their weight loss goals, someone, somewhere (perhaps you?) would find fault with the way they did it.

If you're disappointed in someone not sticking to their goals for a healthier life, that's one thing.  It's OK to say "I'm disappointed."  It is not OK to hold yourself up as an example of perfection, even as you put another person down for not living up to your exhalted standards.

I understand that there are a number of people who are depressed and angry with themselves because they know that they could and should be better people.  I don't understand why those same people don't have any empathy for those they judge.

OUCH!…I felt that SLAP all the way over here on the Jersey Shore.

My meaning of “Get-rich brats” is they get paid for doing nothing.

    They did, didn’t they?

“Disappointed” doesn’t begin to describe the feelings I have for these two stars.

I feel absolute pity for those who have to publicize themselves for personal gain.

I feel even deeper sorrow for their siblings who are embarrassed by the entire backlash caused by their actions.

I AM NOT “holding myself up as an example of perfection, even as you put another person down for not living up to your exhalted standards”.

I also do NOT profess to complete a project I have no intent on completing, NOR enter into them for personal gain.

…sorry you’re wrong in your judgement of me – my only meaning is that these people entered into the agreement with NO intent on fulfilling their promises – forgoing their promise to the sponsor AND the public who look up to them…which is indeed a true pity..

Re: WYNONA OFF THE ALLI WAGON

    Hi Everyone,

I think that it's very easy to get caught up in judging celebrities. Their lives are often perceived as being easier or better because of the money that they make. When you are struggling with your own finances it's even easier to get annoyed at celebrities for making money for something that you are doing without the financial incentive. The problem here is that these celebrities have a huge price to pay for having a weight issue. They have the worst possible pictures that can be taken plastered all over magazine covers with jokes about their weight. No one is immune to getting upset when that happens. I've watched every one of these celebrities promoting the diet that they were following and hoped that they would succeed. I actually get nervous for them because I know the price that they will have to pay if it doesn't work. I NEVER saw their decision to do this a simple business decision for some money with no intention of succeeding. Instead, it seemed like the biggest risk of all to take. Imagine telling EVERYONE that you were going to lose weight on a plan that you were following. You know that every eye will be on you. Maybe the celebrities agree to this in the hopes that they will have to get it right with everyone watching. It becomes a kind of motivation to make it work. Haven't you ever been that frustrated and sick of your weight issue that you would do just about anything to get the weight off? Unfortunately, it doesn't always work and the backlash is unforgiving. This is how I see it and I hope that others can look at it the same way. No one deserves to be criticized for struggling with their weight. It's not all of you versus Wynonna. For all that you know she could be a member on here who you share stories with and support when she is struggling. She's in the same boat as you with this journey regardless of fame or money. Some people need the celebrity that they know to help them make the decision to try something and others don't. All that you need to know is what works for you.

I hope that everyone will think about this a little differently now. There is so much amazing support on here and it would be great if that support was extended to anyone who is trying to find a way to succeed.
