hoop1981-Oh my goodness, you have certainly been through so much. My heart aches for you and the terrible sadness of losing a child no matter at which stage the loss occured-it is always and most certainly a tragedy. How wonderful for you to be blessed with so many grandchildren. They are a blessed bunch to have a grandma like you. Keep up the good work

Re: I started alli today - Any 50+ grandmas need a buddy?

Hi to all the grannies out there.  I am 50, have 2 granddaughters, 5 sons.  I just joined today.  Took my first alli pill minutes ago.  I have gained 40 pounds while in grad school!!!  Very disturbing.  I am sure it have been from inactivity and perimenopause combo. I probably won't be able to "chat" much for the next few weeks but will do so more once I finish taking my final exams.  I will be graduating May 22nd from Stony Brook University in NY with a Masters Degree in Midwifery and Women's Health.  So, as I embark on my new profession, thought I better get in better shape myself.  What's sad is, I lost alot of weight last summer in preparation for my oldest son's wedding, but have put it all back on and more.  So, now I am desperate.  I have already done 20 minutes on my elliptical trainer and eaten my oatmeal.  But now, my books are callng me...need to study for the biggest exam of my life.  Comps.  The exam is May 1st so please keep me in your prayers as I prepare.

welcome mgeers, My goodness you will have your hands full for sure in the next coming weeks. My 3rd son was delivered at home by a nurse/midwife. It was an amazing exeperience and my boy is a wonderfully kind, gentle, peaceful human being...not sure if the birth atmosphere had anything to do with it - I'm just saying it might.  Good luck to you in your studies and we look forward to hearing from you when ever possible.

Re: I started alli today - Any 50+ grandmas need a buddy?

Today is the 24th and I just started ALLI today.  I am 54, have asthma and osteoarthritis bad.  I am 5'2 and 223 pounds, need to loose at least 85 lbs.  Already had one knee replaced.  Tried all kinds of diets, I loose for awhile and always gain it back.  I need to feel better, been laid off and need to loose to help me look better to find a new job.  We have become over the past few years a horse rescue and we have all these mouths to feed, so I really need to loose to help find a new job to support our horsey rescue habbit.   Any and all support will really help to get 85 pounds to come off.

Re: I started alli today - Any 50+ grandmas need a buddy?

Hi, my name is Mary Ann. I haven't started alli yet, but I am kicking around the idea of starting. Do you all have side effects? I work swing shift and I don't always have the opportunity to run to the bathroom without asking someone to take my place on my job. That is the only thing that stops me from starting the program. Is it safe? I have about 35 to 40 lbs. to lose. I'm a brand new grandma too. ( my first). He is a 26 week preemie. My daughter developed preclamsia and we almost lost both of them.  Thanks for answering any of my questions. Oh...where can I get a coupon for alli?

Welcome Coloradojim.  You've come to the right place. Sorry to hear about your knee replacement. I'm looking at two of them down the road. The goal is to make it to retirement and have both done at the same time. And if I wasn't dragging my 230 lbs with me it will go alot easier I figure.

Mary Ann, welcome to you, too. LOL I don't know where to get coupons. Maybe someone else knows where to find them.  Congrats on the new baby. I hope  baby and Mom are doing OK now. So far the only side effects I've had have been gas. But I went way over. When I follow the plan I do just fine with no side effects. Can you set it up to start on your days off? I'm assuming you get two together. Good luck and I'm sure you both will do just fine. Hugs, Gammy

Re: I started alli today - Any 50+ grandmas need a buddy?

    Congratulations on becoming a grandmother!

May your grandson thrive and thoughts and well wishes of health to your family.

The good news about alli is that you can control on the most part the treatment effects.  The majority of people who take alli do not experience treatment effects.  Their occurrence is in association with the amount of fat consumed.

There has been a coupon being offered at sign-in on the 1-2-3 Start page.

    Best Wishes to all,

    Sophia De Monte RPh
