    Re: Zip lock steam bag?

Yup I am hooked on these lil bags! I was a bit skeptical as well. I said what can it hurt. I use at least once a day. The meat isnt tough or chewy like you would think from being microwaved. I got so tired of the dishes from cooking 2 differnt dinners for my family and me not to mention the time and energy. One of my favorit thing to do is take  a few chicken breast tenderloins and either season them with a dry rub, or a little sofrito, or mojo just depends on my mood you could also use light italian dressing. I use half a small onion large slices and half a bell pepper sliced. and add 7 or 8 mushrooms cut in half with as much garlic as I want to taste. I just throw everything in one medium bag and cook for about 7 minutes. I serve it over a serving of brown rice accompanied with a nice salad. If you need more fat you could always throw in artichoke hearts or green or black olives as well. They have made me busy evenings much easier and it really is good.

     chick_guitarist...

THANK YOU :) This was a HUGE hit with my family!!! This took no time at all, was inexpensive, everyone in the family worked together, the meat was delicious, the veggies ROCKED!! I made 2 bags worth to split with the family (myself, husband, and 4 hungry kids!), and while we were eating popped another bag in the microwave for hubbies and I's lunch today :) (I just finished having it for lunch :)) This time I put chicken, red potatoes, green peppers and onions in it- served over couscous. I cant wait to try more recipes!

Thank you for this awesome idea- it will become a staple in my family!

    Re: Zip lock steam bag?

I've used the bags several times.  It's great not to have to use the stove top to cook veggies.  The veggies come out perfect.  Not to sure about freezing in the bags tho.

    Re: Zip lock steam bag?

I finally bought them, but haven't used them yet.  I will this weekend.

My gut says they're probably not meant for freezing...I'll check the package and see what it says.
