    Re: May ALLI Starters

Hi everyone! Just wanted to check in - congrats on all the weight loss everyone!! I have done really really well this week and hope that translates to my weigh-in on Wednesday morning.

I wanted to share something inspirational with you all: This is from a friend's blog as she was reuminating (as we often do) on weight loss: "...it never fails to amaze me how easy it is to get completely derailed from your weight loss goals.  One minute you’re chugging along — working out, eating right, drinking lots of water and losing like crazy — and the next thing you know you’ve gained ten pounds, there are cookie crumbs in your bed and you’re using your treadmill as a clothes rack.  Sometimes the hardest part of losing weight isn’t finding the motivation to try; it’s being able to stay focused once you start to succeed.

It can be exhausting to pay attention to what you’re eating every single day, to plan your meals in advance and make time to workout.  It gets boring after a bit, and  inevitably you start to resent the fact that you have to work so hard to lose weight when other people can slack and stuff themselves silly and ohmygoditisn’tFAIR!  But eventually, if you’re lucky or you’ve been through the cycle long enough, you get back into the swing of things. You get sick of eating brownies or pasta or cheeseburgers from McDonald’s and start to find a good balance again."

How about this for this week's challenge: Do one thing to step your focus!

Start Date: 5/5/09 - Weight to lose: 188

    Re: May ALLI Starters

    Hello everyone,

Been reading up on the posts since I've just gotten back from vacation...congrats on all the losses, good job!!!

I have to say I was shocked when I got on the scale to do my weekly weigh-in and it showed I was down 1 lb.  I wasn't particularly "good" this week but still mananged to lose. I guess thats prolly cuz I was really really naughty before my journey started and now my habits have just naturally changed.  Still a lot of work to do but I am happy with the pound gone!

    Re: May ALLI Starters

     Hi guys!

It's been a couple of weeks since I checked in - busy, busy!  My daughter turned 1 on Sunday, so I've been super busy with party planning.  Last week, I was up 1 pound to 151, and this week, I'm so excited to say that I've hit the 140's...albeit high 140's!  I'm rocking 149.3 this week...and I feel amazing.  I was a bit discouraged last week to see the number go up, but this past week made up for it!

I've vowed to get back into my Saturday distance runs, and hope that will kick it up a bit to help me reach my mini goal - it's just 4 pounds away now!  Congrats to everyone on their recent successes - and thank you for sharing your recent frustrations too!  it's so helpful to know that we've all experienced some slower weeks, and a bit of negative progress.  Great work May starters!  We're now wrapping up June already...wow!

    Cheers,

    Heather

    Re: May ALLI Starters

Hi everyone! Weighed in this morning and lost another 4lbs, making a total of 20lbs in 7 weeks! I am thrilled, made my first mini goal!! I really feel such a physical and mental difference in my life. My clothes, my pants especially, are feeling really loose. Next month, I am going to have to take all my work pants to the seamtress. I am starting to look like a sloppy dresser!

I have been on medication for 7 years to regulate a medical disorder. It's great that it gets me through my day-to-day life, but it stinks because it causes two major problems - 1) weight gain. I have gained almost 100 lbs in 7 years and 2) it strips sodium from my blood, causing cravings for salty foods - which I prefer in fried form! hahhaa.

I feel that Alli helps me get over that little hump of weight gain caused by my medication. The rest is due to my efforts! I am not perfect, but I sure do try hard! I doubt that I am going to make my goal of losing 30 by next week, but I was a little optimistic about that. I'll keep at it though!

Congratulations everyone! I am SO happy - I hope you are too!

    Re: May ALLI Starters

     Hi All!

I had my weigh-in today, and I am down 1lb.  I am actually thrilled with this, as my week has been crazy busy at work and I haven't done any exercise.  I am a cook and yesterday was our sample dinner for the fundraiser we have in the fall.  To make sure things are turning out you have to try them, and so I did.  Things like:  Chicken w/ garlic & Asiago cheese sauce, stuffed beef tenderloin, mashed potatoes...and for the desserts...Pecan Apple Cream Pie, White Chocolate Bread Pudding w/ White Chocolate Kahlua sauce, and Triple Chocolate Cheesecake.  I have worked 24hrs. in the last two days and have not eaten regular meals.  I did try to grab bites of carrot or apple every once in a while, but nothing regular.  I am hoping this week calms down a little, so I can keep more focused on me and my health.

    Have a great week everyone!

    Re: May ALLI Starters

This is the first I have popped in this group so here is Hi to everyone. I started May 19th. and I am down 8 lbs. I am almost close to my first 10lb goal. I have only nine more of these goals to go. I'm eating alot more than I am used to so that is a good sign. I think the best motivation is listening to everyone dealing with all our ups and downs and learning from them.Especially our little success stories.

    Re: May ALLI Starters

Yay!!!! Congratulations to everyone!! Whoo-hoo keep on feel good about feeling good!

I have to be honest, what a terrible week for me...I didnt lose a thing....BUT I didnt gain...I am really not feeling it lately and havent taken the pill regularly this week, the weekends REALLY screw me up, not to mention my darling husband who has lost SEVEN POUNDS without even trying....ARGH! I know I know...tomorrow is a new day :) if I could only stay on track...even this morning when I woke up I KNEW I wasn t going to take my pill....what is that all about?

Anyway in proof reading my email above, I just realized that this morning while at Subway (i purposely did not pack my normal "Alli" breakfast for work) I made a good choice! I had the Western Omlet (7 grams of fat with no cheese) opposed to the double bacon omlett flatbread I was getting a month ago (25+ grams of fat) and I could have ordered absolutely ANYTHING! So I guess that is an accomplishement just within the thought process. My man and I are going to San Diego (never been to a REAL beach:) for an extra long weekend on the fourth of July.... I dont plan on gorging any fatty foods but I wont be as strict as i was a week or so ago....any advice for the one who falls off the wagon at every intersection?

Thanks for listening yall-its been a rough Monday :)

    Re: May ALLI Starters

This is exactly how I feel. I usually get on here and read every day and I haven't hardle been doing it this past week. I didnt even look at the Alli  bottle at all this past weekend. It's like I all of a sudden don't care. I still want it but I don't wanna do the work to have it!! I dont know what to do to get motivated to get going again!! I'm still going swimming everyday and I mow my boyfriends aunts yard every weekend( Nothing major she has a riding mower so it doesnt really help me other than sweating to death!!) Anyways I just feel like im lost and I dont know what to do!!

    Kels!!

    Re: May ALLI Starters

    Hi Everyone!!

Funny - I am feeling the EXACT SAME WAY! How much does that suck?? hahaa. I lost only one lb this week, but did not do well at all. I also am running out of pills. I am going to buy some today so I don't have a single excuse.

Like you, I AM making better choices. I had to make mini cheesecakes for a friend's birthday. I used less sugar, less butter and light cream cheese, so it came out to about 85cal/4g fat each. Not bad for a small snack, but TERRIBLE when you eat 12 in two days! (Seriously, what is wrong with me??)

Here's the thing, guys: We're losing our determination. This is going to be a long process. Daily Plate says that I can expect to reach my goal in Feb of 2011!! 2011! I can't lose focus now. I'll never make it if I slack off now. I want to be happy and healthy - for ME. I DESERVE THIS. So I am resolving RIGHT now to be better.  I don't work until noon today. I am going to go eat a healthy breakfast and pack my lunch. I won't be tempted when I have a ready answer for hunger.

We're all facing a tough weekend. Don't just TRY to make better choices - resolve NOW to DO it. Load your plate with salad before putting anything else on it. Remember to reach for 1/2 cup of backed beans instead of potato salad. Bring turkey burgers or turkey hot dogs to the BBQ, avoid sodas and eat fruit instead of desserts. AND PROMISE YOURSELF TO TAKE YOUR PILLS AT EVERY MEAL. We can do this!!

I hope everyone will check in on each other after the weekend. I'm leaving tomorrow for Cape Cod, and will return on Monday - I will definitely check in when I get back!

    Resolve now! :)
