so i have a nut allergy i cant eat any nuts.

i asked Pat on the dietitian forum what are good substitutes for nuts to help with gaining my calories and fats

he suggested olives, avacado, and cheese.

im not a fan of olives though but ill try something new just for the sake of giving it a try.

i know pretty much any omlette with cheese and some meat will help starting off my day with cal and fat but does anyone else have any food ideas for breakfast.. and so that i dont make mutliple messages any ideas for snacks and lunch??

    Re: help me!!

Hi. I'm not quite sure what you actually like to eat, so to put in my suggestions, I'd say the easiest lunches/dinners are sandwiches with turkey breast, roast beef, or ham w/ or w/o cheese, depending on where you are with your fat grams for the meal. Canned healthy soups and frozen dinners are the other easiest alternatives. Alli would suggest a low fat frozen dinner and then adding healthy fats like olives, avocados or nuts, however since you are not nuts about nuts (couldn't resist that one), getting a regular (not lowfat) frozen dinner is a good choice; just watch the calories. I think the point of eating lowfat in the Alli plan is to get people off those dreadfully poor quality fats the food industry uses, and to put back in good quality fats, which is very conscientious on Alli's part, and deserves to be commended. You can actually eat almost anything, and if you make sure the calories are 300-400, and certainly no more than 500, your fats will be in order if you look closely and count them. For snacks, fruit is good, but 'myalliplan' has a whole lot of suggestions; you just need to make sure you are snacking on protein and/or carbs, since you won't be taking a pill at snack time and would save the fats for the meals with the pills.

There is never a legitimate reason to eat when you are not physically hungry or to eat past satisfaction. --Susie Orbach

    Taste everything; finish nothing.

You keep food from going to waste by putting it on your waist.

You can't eat now to satisfy a hunger yet to come.

There is no trying; only doing. There is no becoming; only being.

    Re: help me!!

Hello! So I recently went to a nutritionist and that has helped me TREMENDOUSLY!!! altho alli is great only since seeing her have I lost 4lbs in one week! my weight was going nowhere and she told me i was doing it all wrong but with good intentions. She advised me to break my meals in to the heaviest for breakfast and lunch and my lightest for dinner! I now try to eat 400 calories for breakfast and lunch and then a snack and dinner! i hit around 1400 cal a day, which is more than i was, i thought that by having 1100-1200 that would do the trick but apparently it wasnt working cause my body panicked and started storing the excess - who knew! anyway I LOVE avacado but it has ALOT of fat and cal so be careful!

For breakfast i have yoghurt adn some breakfast mix (but watch the nuts in these) you could just add fruit to your yog. I also have a cinamon bagel with no fat strawb cream cheese! It is still hard for me to eat all this food for breakfast but watching the scale go down is great motivation!

For lunch I have a bagel with brie triangle, grapes on one half  adn tuna with mayo on the other! It feels like a real treat and I love it. You could def add avacado with the cheese part! or add a salad of spinach leaves, avacado and tomato (like i say tho watch the calories and fat in the avacado portions!)

A great dinner idea with avacado is; Wraps! I am a vegetarian but you can always add chicken too. Wrap, cheese, black beans, tomatoes, avacado, brown rice and anything else you like to get you to 400 cal (watch the cheese in this) we add shrimp sometimes!

A great avacado appetizer or snack is 1/2 avacado filled with shrimp and cocktail sauce (yum!)

I am always on the look out for reciepes and advice surrounding MUFA's and how to incorporate them, get some health/diet mags they usually have some great advice on how to get these in to our diets!

hope this helps - feel like I may have rambled ;) good luck

    Re: help me!!

That's horrible you have a nut allergy. One thing you could possibly look into is protein shakes. I'm not much of a breakfast person, so I like the Special K protein shakes and water mix. Since you do actually eat breakfast, just substitute it for whatever drink you are having and you can knock out two birds with one stone. Or if you think it will put you over you calorie limit, the Special K ones come in a bottle so just drink half. :)
