    New to Alli

Hello everyone.  I am finally here. I have been telling myself for 2 yrs to try Alli.  I have to admit I have been afraid to try it because of the possible side effects.  In the meantime my weight has continued to climb.  I work out almost 5 days a week but because I can't control what I eat, the exercise is doing no good. I am very frustrated.  I heard about a friend of a friend had tried Alli with great results and almost no terrible side effects. Well that was all I needed to hear. The very next day I went shopping and bought the starter box.  I started Alli and was on it for about 4 days but had to stop because of unavoidable things at work.  Work was going to be crazy to say the least and I wouldn't be able to run to the bathroom if needed. I couldn't risk that so I decided to stop for a few days.  I have begun again and so far so good. I have lost 2 lbs so far.  I am trying really hard to eat low fat and healthy but its not always easy.  I also find that I am almost testing Alli to see what I can eat and get away with.   So far I have not had a problem remembering to take my capsules but what do I do when the cravings for something bad kick in?  I am tempted to not take a capsule so I can eat the bad foods.  How can I get the motivation to continue and eat healthy?  Also,  I don't know if this is just me and my imagination or does Alli sometimes act like a appetite suppressant?  Maybe its just me.  Mind over matter I guess or should I say " mind over food".

I have about 50 lbs to lose,  48 more to go.  I already lost 2!  I am going to be 50 yrs old in a few months and I don't want to be 50 and FAT!  I know I will never have a supermodel body but I would like to be able to go in my closet and pull out an outfit and know its going to fit.  I am sick and tired of trying clothes on only to find out that they are too small. I want to find out that the clothes are TOO BIG!   I also want to stay healthy, getting older means there are more and more health concerns.

I would appreciate any tips and any advice any body can give me.  I would also like to hear about any side effects any body has had.  This still is a concern of mine.

    Re: New to Alli

Hi Shirley, I'm Judy, from Michigan.  I too have been tempted to buy ALLI but I keep hearing about the side effects, namely the bathroom in the pants scare, and I am mortified of this happening at work etc.  Since you've tried it and lost the two pounds, have you any of those "adverse treatment effects" yet? Where you have to run to the restroom, and it's too late.  Sorry, that's personal but just wondering; I was on my way up the local drugstore tonight to get my first alli. Thanks! Judy

    Re: New to Alli

    Hi Shirley_marie,

Welcome to the board! I recommend that you post this on the personal experiences board to reach more people. This board was set up for people with challenging schedules and it's not as busy as the personal experiences board is.

The minute that you are tempted to eat a high fat meal without alli, pop a pill. Once alli is in there it's going to work and that may be what you need to keep you from eating the extra fat. Over time the temptation may not be as strong. You may also find days when there is no temptation at all and others when it's the hardest thing to resist. This is all a natural part of making these changes to your diet. You may want to plan for splurges every once in a while so you have something to look forward to. Remember, you have been eating the other way for a lot longer than you have been eating this way so give this some time.

    Congratulations on your success,

    Betty Kovacs, MS, RD

    Re: New to Alli

     Hello Shirley,

Today is my first day and I have decided to stay home today and monday (Labor Day).  My hours are long (60 to70 a wk).  What makes it so hard is that my shop is next to a fudge & candy shop and across the street is pizza and then a deli.  I have about 60 pounds to lose.  I also hope that I don't have run to the bathroom.  We only have one for me and my 4 employees.  I have tried so many times to lose weight but work and no will power have taken it tole on my over weight body.  My husband bought Alli for me last week when I told him I just had to lose this weight.  I had seen it at the store, but I thought I don't think I am worth all that money.  I have heard some stories about side effects and pray that they don't happen.  I hope that you will kept in touch with me.  Thank you, Joyce
