I started alli a year ago and have lost 37 pounds.
When I started, I had planned to do it for a year and had hoped that I would lose about 50 lbs., but I am still extremely happy with the results. Ecstatic, even. People seem to lose more quickly if they are younger (I am 50 and it seems especially hard for women my age) and if you have a lot to lose, especially in the beginning. Slow and steady definitely wins this race. I lost 20 pounds the first three months, took a planned break of a couple of months, then lost 10 in about three months, and the last 7 have been slowly coming off since then. I have gone from a size 20 to 12 and starting to fit into 10s.
I have been good about exercising, so that defininetly helped me.
I don't really care how long the last 10 pounds take to lose. I have more or less stopped taking the pills and will do the rest with healthy eating and lots of exercise. They are really just vanity pounds because I look and feel great now. I know that I will do it because over a year's time, all the changes are now normal. It is a permanent change.
To all of you just starting out, be patient. Alli doesn't give you instant results, but every pound and every ounce adds up over time. Give yourself a year and work hard at it and see where you are then. I think you'll be happy.
