    Gaining Weight on Alli

I have been using Alli on and off for 2 years.  I recently began the program again.  I have been keeping a food log of everything I eat.  I am keeping the 1800 calories a day and target of 19 grams of fat per meal.  I have been eating healthy and I have gained almost 2 pounds this week. Do I need to reduce the calories and fat? I am also walking 3 - 6 miles at least 3 times per week.

    Re: Gaining Weight on Alli

Your weight can fluctuate by a few pounds almost daily.  There are many factors that can affect your weight such as menstrual cycles (up to 5 temporary pounds), salty meals, medications, increase in muscle mass, etc.  Do not be discouraged is your weight goes up and down by a few pounds - this is pretty normal.  Remember to also consider how your clothes fit, your energy level, your overall health, cholesterol levels, etc.

I will recommend you continue with your plan unless you experience a permanent weight gain - for more than 3 weeks.  At that point you may decrease your calories by 200 calories until you find the calorie level that allows you to safely lose between 1 to 3 pounds per week.  Also, try to change your work out routine as much as possible.  Hope this helps.

I have the same problem.  Your words are encouraging and I will continue to move forward successfully.  Was going to reduce calories but will wait 2 weeks.
