Great success on Alli, but now its not working??

I started on Alli nearly 2 years ago....I started at 287 lbs on new years day....Within 8 months of drastic diet and exercise along with alli, I was at 196 lbs......After reaching this weight I felt confident and retained my better eating habits but no longer used Alli as an aid....Over the past 6 months i've gained back to 230lbs....I've tried several times to start my alli plan again, but no matter how greasy the foods i eat are, I see no signs of using the product....I know its gross, but I can eat pizza, hambugers, I mean anything, and i have no oily messes anymore.....Is it possible to become immune to this product....I'm absolutely terrified I'm on my way to being huge again after 15 years living that life...Alli was a life savor...Now I can starve myself and seems i gain weight....Can someone plz help me!!!!!

Have you started tracking your food again? What are you doing for exercise? Do you drink enough water? Why are you eating awful foods to try getting TE's? Isn't that counterproductive?

The long-term goal is not to use Alli forever but to have changed your lifestyle to include healthy eating habits and more daily activity.

To put it very blunt!  Absolutely you are on your way back to being overweight!  How on earth can you put so much on Alli, when you aren't even trying to follow the plan?  It isn't Alli that is failing you, you are failing Alli.  Alli is just a tool to help you with your weightloss.  It isn't going to lose it for you.  I have been on Alli for a bit over a year, and there is no way I would be eating the stuff you are, even to see if Alli is still working.  If you doubt it is, then stop buying it.  With the way you are eating, you are only throwing your money away anyway!  Now, if you want it to work, then start putting the effort into it.

As long as you try, you will be successful.

    Hi Jlmccown,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having a hard time. Unfortunately, losing weight too quickly can get in the way of losing it again if you regain it. The guidelines to lose 1 to 2 lbs per week were set for your health. When you lose faster than that you end up losing a lot of muscle. More than half of what you lost could have been muscle. Muscle is what burns calories so having less of it means that you burn fewer calories. To make things worse the weight that you regained is only 25% muscle so you now have less muscle at this weight than you did when you weighed 230 lbs 2 years ago. That means that it's going to be harder to lose this time. It's important for you to replace some of that lost muscle now. You can lift weights or do other forms of resistance exercises. You can check-in on the activity board for assistance with setting up a plan if you need help. You will also need to stop testing alli. There is no way that you are immune to it so don't worry about that. All that you are doing is giving your body more calories than it needs and you will never lose weight doing that. Start from the beginning right now and do what you need to lose 1 to 2 lbs this week-no more. Get back to keeping food records and staying within your fat gram goals. It doesn't matter what got you here. All that you need to do now is move forward and know that you are never coming back to this point.

    How's that sound?
