    Re: McDonald's & Alli

We were too poor to eat out when I was growing up!  I didn't have fast food until I went to high school and they had Pizza Hut - but I was still fat my whole life!  It has a lot to do w genetics but mostly poor choices and over eating!  I over eat to feel in control of something!  I haven't eatten a french fry since 1998, but yet again I say I AM STILL FAT!  Fast food has nothing to do w it and it's all about self control and taking responsibility for what you have done to yourself!

My husband and I have decided that we don't want our daughter to eat out, but we do - that is why I am trying now to lose the weight and be healthier!  The main reason though, is so she doesn't have to go through a life of pain from being made fun of, shopping in the fat section and being out of breathe when she has to run in gym!

    jm2day:

    Hi!

I just had the Southwest Chicken Salad...It was really good!  I had it with the grilled chicken and I only used less than half of the dressing package to help with the fat and cals..  I was actually happier with that than I would have been with a hamburger (I didnt think I would be).

i agree - i take my grandkids to eat occasionally and i always have either the southwestern salad or the asian one (i do try to take off most of the tortilla strips) - i always let them have an ice cream and i get the yogurt parfait for dessert - all within my limits and never had any effects!! not to step on any toes but the occasional treat for the kids is just that - A TREAT!!!!!!

Just wanted to say Good for you I take the new life style of eating right seriously but taking all the life out of style is not right. It is great to spend time with your granddaughter and walking there and back helps a lot.

    Re: McDonald's & Alli

that is what i did too!  wiping off the grease..!!  :^D

Now, I find that going to Taco Bell is great to have a real filling meal--burrito supreme!!!  350 caloris and 21% of fat. 8 fat grams.

For snaking, I use hard candy, wow!  only 95 calories for 4 pieces.  I go on the www.fitday.com and count my calories of the day (it counts your calories...along with nutrients!) and see how much I have left to have my snacks.  I nearly always snack at night during my lifetime....I am on the 1900 calorie a day plan....sometimes I have a bowl of vanilla ice cream---or vanilla wafers or molasses cookies (count them!!)  I also found that having peanut butter for protein can be acceptable because having a tablespoon on a half of a blueberry bagel IS DELICIOUS.  why did i use so much peanut butter before is beyond me!  i still got the *peanut butter taste*!!!!

Yes, I get the grilled chicken without mayo....please tomato and lettuce (nutrients) and no fries.  I usually have iced tea....none of my beloved coca cola....:/  but i figured I want my FIGURE BACK!! I want to buy cute clothes!  I want my energy back!!!  :)))))

     IN OTHER WORDS-----l LOVE ALLI

    Re: McDonald's & Alli

I hav noticed that it can take two to three days until I get the TE's.  I ate lot's of pizza one day and I didn't get the TE's till days later.  Some people on these post say it is sudden but I have yet to experience it happening quickly.  Everyone is different.

If I stop at Mcdonald's I usually order a grilled chicken sandwich with no mayo. It only has 4.5 grams of fat and a diet coke.

    BeBe,

I'm not judging you for eating fast food, but it is the worst possible food you could put into your body.  Fast food is loaded with trans fats, sodium, cholesterol, even the salads are fattening.  Rent "Super Size Me" and "Fast Food Nation" and watch them both in one night.  I can almost guarantee you will never want to eat fast food again.  I watched "Fast Food Nation" last night and was horrified.  Good luck!

My friends say I am the anti-slogan for those movies.

Well in college for a summer I ate nothing but McDonalds. Almost 3 monthes straight - EVERY DAY. Guess what. I lost weight. Guess what I ate? Usually a large double cheeseburger value meal, or some type of mcmuffin breakfast meal for breakfast. . . Took a multivitamin and went about my normal life. I worked full time and went to school full time so I didn't exercise regularly.  . . . But I was young and had metabolism and was still healthy. Now I am old and don't have the same metabolism and even less time.  So the BAD habits caught up with me. So its my habits and not where I ate and how I ate that effected my weight. Don't believe all you see on tv. Its multi-factored.

    Re: McDonald's & Alli

I don't eat fast food very often. But when I go to McDonald's with my son, I order the Filet-o-Fish sandwich with no cheese, and scrape off most of the tartar sauce. We share the fries and I'll drink either iced tea or bottled water. No TE's and I still end up within my limit.

Another tip: check out their website. You can build your own meal in the nutritional value section and notice how much you save in calories and fat just from cutting out mayo, cheese and other fatty ingredients.

    Re: McDonald's & Alli

I have had a sandwich at subway by itself.  Roaested chicken breast on wheat with some veggies and a diet coke.  Wonderful and filling.  The whole idea of alli is for you to watch how the food is cooked, the portion size, and the fat and caloric content.  Your fooling yourself if you think that it's okay to have two hamburgers and french FRIES.  I'm not trying to beat you down but you could just have one burger and small fries or change the tradition and walk to wendys where you can have a side salad with a baked potato or nuggets with a side salad, and maybe a small frosty that you two can split.  You can have fun in moderation.  I work at Starbucks and I have found wonderful tasty drinks that I like made with non-fat milk and a couple of splendas or iced tea w/ splenda.  I make the 8 oz size if it has milk.  Hit me up if anyone is looking for healthier ways to enjoy your coffee.

    Re: McDonald's & Alli

    Hi all,

I'm new to the group although I've been taking Alli for 3 weeks now and lost 10 lbs.  I used to be one of those "I'll do this and that when I have kids so they won't do this or that"  BUT NOW... post children, I know better.  I will never judge how a child, teenager or a parent acts because if you're not in that situation... you just don't know.

Now for the "TE".. I had a TE the very first week and Thank God I did.. because I have watched what and how I eat ever since.  It was so disgusting, I embarrased myself.  I do go to McDonalds, I order the kids their usual.. and a salad with grilled chx, or a grilled chx sandwich with no mayo.. I have gotten so used to it now , I can't even eat the whole chicken.. before I used to be able to eat 2 meals (with fries)...

I am so glad I started Alli, if the weight loss wan't as obvious, we would all stop after one or two weeks as we've all done before.. I know it's changed my whole lifestyle... even when we eat out.. when husband orders Calamari for appetizer ( yes, he doesn't care that I'm  on a diet) I haven't eaten anything fried since that "TE".

    SSiegel97:

I love how you're dieting and then you give your kids McDonalds. When I have kids I won't bring them to fast food places. My parents didn't. Spare them the need to take diet pills in the future.

No one puts food in your mouth expect you. You can make healthful choices anywhere, McDonald's included. There's a big difference between opining about raising kids and actually raising kids: I was just as much a know-it-all before I found out what it was really like to raise four kids. My kids do get taken to fast-food restaurants, but they're the first ones to order grilled chicken just because they like it. My youngest daughter doesn't even like pastry or doughnuts and having a Dunkin Donuts in the neighborhood didn't have any effect on her food selections. My kids are more active than others because their TV and video-game time is very limited and they spend their after-school periods playing basketball at our local gym or jogging. Food is only part of the health equation: physical activity and a good example are more important. If that user walks to McDonald's with her granddaughter and makes healthy menu selections, she's way ahead of a lot of others who just like to grouse.

    Re: McDonald's & Alli

For the love of all that is good and holy in this world.....

The "nutritional expert" who is judgmental and rude.  No one takes "their" kids to Mcd's and when they do, they order an apple!~

Who cares what anyone else does?  If my kids ask for McDs, I let them have it.  Big freaking deal.  Moderation.  Do we have junk food in the house?  Yup.  Not that they eat much of it, but eventually they get around to it.  Big deal.  We have ice cream too!  And chocolate to put on top!

Taking Alli doesn't mean you have to deprive yourself of something, IF you want something like a cheeseburger.  Have the cheeseburger...then have a nice balanced meal for dinner.  Moderation.

If the poster has TEs....oh well, she has learned what her body can and cannot do while taking Alli.  "Your" way is always the BEST way.  Some people need Mcds b/c they are running around like crazy and don't have time for anything else.  So what?

And, seriously, if someone tells me I won't eat McDonalds b/c of "supersize me" I'm gonna scream.  Did anyone think that McDs was good for you before that movie?  Did anyone not realize their food is pumped full of junk?  Yes, you can get a healthy choice at Mcds if you want.  They can't hardly pump trans fat into a lettuce leaf now can they?

    Re: McDonald's & Alli

    Hi Ssiegel97,

I am not sure what your training is in, but can say that out of every weight management professional that I have worked with for over 10 years none of them have taken a prescription medication to experience the effects. I am very puzzled by this and want to be sure that people are clear that alli is intended for someone who is overweight and obese.

It's the professional's job to to advise, encourage, and support. I feel that I have been able to be effective on here without having ever taken alli. I rely on sound research to support what I have to say. I am a qualified expert in this field and am recommending that you discontinue taking alli.
