    Re: McDonald's & Alli

I probably take my little girl and myself to McD's about once every couple months.  If I do go there I myself choose a snack wrap or two sometimes, with grilled chicken and the low fat dressing inside (either bbq or honey mustard, not the ranch) and have apple dippers.I drink water. My daughter can get what she wants but by me modeling this behavior believe it or not shes a little health food freak and will many times opt for apple dippers over frys and get something pretty healthy.

However if she wanted a burger, so be it.  We don't go there often enough to make it really bad.

    Re: McDonald's & Alli

While I don't want my son to eat fast food every day, every kind of food is okay in moderation. Chicken nuggets and apple dippers aren't too bad when you are stuck on the go. I live 60 miles from stores, but we do have a McDonalds on the way and sometimes we do stop there. I don't tell other people how to raise their children. I also wanted to comment about one thing that has concerned me on this board. I have seen many people talk about skipping a dose so they can binge. If you are doing this, you aren't really getting the message which is to change your lifestyle. I can't think of a single situation in which you need to skip a pill. I go to parties, family events, resteraunts and I'm either able to cut my portion size or pick something healthy. Please don't make this just about losing some weight. Please make this about changing your life so you don't have to think about weight so much. JMO

I love how you're dieting and then you give your kids McDonalds. When I have kids I won't bring them to fast food places. My parents didn't. Spare them the need to take diet pills in the future.

You are in no place to judge those of us that are parents!!! I have a very healthy and fit 15 year old and she has eaten McDonald's her entire life.

Your parents didn't let you have fast food, yet you are here. When you become a parent, come back and talk to us again!!!

Aren't you a judgemental meany!  You sound like that idiot guy that made that movie, "super size me".  It is all about moderation dear.  It is okay to eat ANYTHING but in moderation.

Im sure you have been to mcdonalds at least once in your life and if you had kids they would've went with you you can't say that you would never because even the healthiest people take there kids and occasionally wont hurt them

    SSiegel97:

um, did you not read the post. My parents did not let me have mcdonalds. I don't need to have kids to have learned proper eating habits from them.

McDonalds is addictive. It has chemicals in the food which set a wheel in your body to crave more. Didn't you see Fast Food Nation or Super Size Me, or have you read any books on fast food. I work in the nutritional industry, I make it a point to know these things.

we all read it how mean and cruel it was no matter if you had it or not you still need alli kinda ironic still didn't have but still overweight like me and everyone else on alli good luck to you on your weight loss

if you look at my profile, I'm 5'8 145. Hardly fat. I take alli as a weight management professional. I want to see it's effects first hand. Not because my parents in podunk, ohio raised me on fast food.

Now, most nutrition professionals will try the products before endorsing them. Sorry I didn't mention that, but I guess that mums your statement.

    cheers:)

    Re: McDonald's & Alli

Just a note about McDonald's and other fast food joints.  I live overseas and don't have easy access to McDonald's.  I think that there are two in my city, which is fairly big, and neither has the ultra-convenient drive thru window.  As a result, I don't have to fight the temptation.  It's nice.  There are no Taco Bells, no Wendy's, few Burger Kings on the highways -- really no other chains as such.  Another nice thing -- most resturants have operating hours.  They are simply not open all day long to serve people when the  urge strikes.  It makes eating out something that must be planned a bit in advance. Again -- nice.

When we do make it to McDonald's with our young child it is always FULL -- full of skinny Italians of all ages munching down on fries and burgers. Moderation, I'm sure, is the key.  I suspect that a trip to McDonald's happens at most once a month for these Italians.  And even then, it's okay, because they have most certainly walked or biked enough in a normal day to burn many, many calories.

I am attempting to change my American lifestyle to mimic theirs a bit more.  We just bought two new bikes!

    Re: McDonald's & Alli

    Dearest Betty,

I must admit that i got caught up in reading all the back and forth debates going on in the Ssiegel97 vs the world campain. Love a good fisty debate. In summation I agree with you in that for my 2 cents she should discontinue ....ahh but only if the statements she wrote are correct and true.

I submit however that this is not the case....whaaaa? yes you heard me correctly...not the case at all i tell you... It is my unprofessional opinion (ta da ta da) that she does need the Alli and that actually she was so caught up in defending her original statement and one uping everyone that the words just flowed off her key pad like magic..and before she knew it....she was 007....why yes thats it i'm a specialist in weight management...yes thats it... sent here to test all products for my legions of movie fans.....after all can't we all be trapped in our own words when we are making them up as we go..

I remember the first time my parents took me to McDonalds i thought the fries were straight out of heaven itself...mom never made fries (only American style) as for everything else nobody ever held a candle to moma's cookin' ....going to sail away now ~~~~_)~~~~

All I can say is can you imagine growing up without experiencing a "Happy Meal"??? It's like a rite of passage for a child...

On another note...the grilled chicken sandwiches from both McD's and BK are only 10g of fat (without mayo or sauce of course)...but it's very filling and tasty =)
