    BLOATING

I was just wondering if there was anyone else out that that is feeling BLOATED? I'm on day 4 and have been following everything to the book, lots of water, fiber, no salt etc. and OMG I feel like a balloon. Is this of the norm? Or is there something else I should be doing? I stepped on the scale today and was up a pound and a half. Also I have had no treatment effects but just the opposite. I would love there hear from others if they to are having the same problems, truly I felt and looked better before the alli. Fustrated and looking for answers ASAP! or alli can hit the trash can.

    Re: BLOATING

I posted the same question yesterday.  I only want to lose 15-20 lbs.  I was thinking maye it's a side effect if you have less to use.  I don't kow.  I started taking it on the 18th.  I don't know if I have lost anything becuase that first week I was too scared to get on the scale.  I did weigh myself this Monday (the 25th) bloated 3 lbs during the day.  I will weigh myself again Monday and see.  I did feel a little less bloated this morning when I got up.

    Re: BLOATING

    Hi Carminm,

How much have your eating habits changed? Are you eating more vegetables and fruit now? Your bloating could be gas from the increase in fiber if you are not used to eating it. You can try Beano with your meals to help digest the fiber. You can go to www.beanogas.com to read more about it. If gas is a problem you can also look into taking gas-x for a shor time.

The other potential cause is if you have made a change to your intake of artificial sweeteners. There are a lot foods, especially diet foods, that have artificial sweeteners in them. If you could experience bloating from one or many of them. Look at the ingredients of the foods and beverages that you have recently added to see if it has any of these: saccharin, aspartame, sucralose, acesulfame K, and neotame. You may need to omit one at a time to determine if that is the cause.

I also recommend that you check in with the pharmacist to help determine if this is a side effect of Alli and how long it could last.

    Keep us posted,

    Betty Kovacs, MS, RD

    Re: BLOATING

I have the same issues.... I eat lowfat already, just made my meals smaller. I have no TE's (been taking for about 2 wks).

I feel backed up & bloaded...I do extra fiber and everything.

I had lost a few lbs but this morning gain all back, up 3.8 lbs. I'm giving it a full month, but hard to see so much work gone in one day.

    Re: BLOATING

I have the exact same thing ...and I've read of many, many others with the same thing. I would like an answer as to what causes it.

I have always had quite a lot of fiber and am eating balance meals....I know how to count so know I am right on target and have been ever since June 15th.  I also drink plenty of water and very little salt. This appears to me to be a frustrating side effect for many of us.

There's the bloat and  tendency toward constipation....and of course I have shown gain ...until just the last day or two....maybe lost one pound.  Before Alli I have had a slight tendency toward looseness.

I will try the Beano...have used gas X ...sounds though Ms Kovacs is saying use Gas X for only short term. ?  It's hard to find replies and see if others have found relief by using Beano.  I have another month of pills and may have to give them up because of the bloating. Feels terrible.

    Re: BLOATING

First off, your only on day 4.  Give it more time.  Could be water weight, or maybe your cycle is starting.  Giving it 4 days is not enough to toss the product in the trash.  It works, it is not a wonder overnight drug you take and poof, the weight is gone.  It takes commitment.  Longer than a 4 day commitment.

    Re: BLOATING

Chins up everyone...I've been on alli since the 18th, until Friday, which was two days ago I was constipated as all get out, bloated, felt TERRIBLE, saw no weight loss and if I did one day it was back and then some the next....today, everything started moving "normally", I'm down 5 pounds total, altough it was up and down up and down.  The constipation issue I changed one thing, I don't take my Centrum at night now, I take in the a.m. although they recommend night time use and three days later, I'm feeling MUCH better!  Even got into a pair of jeans today my rearend has not been acquainted with in MONTHS, so don't give up!

    Re: BLOATING

Carminm - I've been on Alli for 5 days now.  Read a lot of posts prior to starting about constipation.  I eat 4 prunes EVERY morning without fail.  A good natural way to keep things moving.  I've had a normal BM every morning and sometimes in the afternoon.  Also, too much fiber can be a problem for some people.

    Hi Huskyone

I too am so bloated that my pants wont fasten!  I weighed in today and am still at 164 when I started two weeks ago I was 162.  Now Im definately not perfect but I have been pretty good and this is incredibly frustrating. Im a lifetime member with WWs so I know what it takes to loose but this is got me stumped. Im going to give it another week - Let me know your progress, we seem to be traveling down the same frustrating road.
