Hi! My name is Sandy and I need to be a part of this bunch! I'm from SW AR and am a housewife, a mother, and a cattle farmer, who loves animals and just about any type of crafting/gardening.
I quit smoking (after 27 years/2 packs a day) in 2000, on my 40th birthday and quit living on Dr Peppers (between 8 and 15 a day...not kidding!) on my 41st. I had kept my weight between 140 and 155, back 'n forth, for about 20 years, but within a year of quitting smoking I had gained 35 pounds, and for each year since then I've gained about another 5 to 10. Not a pretty picture!
I started this past December, watching what I was eating, with my husband and I pretty much sticking with the WW plan. (We know the points system better than we do calories, and we really love a lot of the recipes we get through that program/site.)
Since December 25, I (5'3") have lost from 227 to 210.5 (and Mike (6'3") has lost from 255 to 238), so I (we) are doing okay, but that still leaves me with about 90 pounds to lose. 90 pounds I am going to lose!
My family doctor is working with me now to get my blood sugar down...I do not want to deal with diabetes, so this is a must-win situation for me. I hope I will find a lot of encouragement from this board and am excited about next Monday...I am literally going to be waiting outside of the closest WalGreens when they open!
Hope this is going to be fun and healthy!!!
