    Re: Alli -Oops bag

I just bought some depends to wear when I go out just in case.  I think we'll all relax once we get to know what to expect.  I have been keeping my fat grams to 10 per meal and so far I haven't had ANY kind of changes.

    Re: Alli -Oops bag

Carib Girl, I guess most of us are a little sensitive about someone having anything discouraging to say about something we hope will help us in our battle to lose weight.  I imagine there are few here who haven't tried a low fat diet and exercise alone, many times, before now.  And there are likely few, if any, of us here who have succeeded trying to do it that way for many reasons.  What I hope Alli can provide for me is a better chance of sticking to the plan because instead of trying to limit my calories to just 1200, which can be very boring and lead to feelings of being deprived the foods that normal eaters enjoy, I can enjoy a low fat plan with up to 1800 calories per day if I am exercising, and still lose weight.  I know that I am likely to stick with this plan longer, and yes, the fear of "treatment effects" is a motivator and a constant reminder to stay on the plan.  I really do have great hope that I can lose my extra weight once and for all this time with the help of Alli and the tools this website provides.  As for the negativity, I am surrounded by it already.  I haven't even told my husband that I am trying yet another diet plan.  I know the reaction I will get from him.  Most of us are on these boards for support and motivation.  I can understand your question if you have never tried to lose weight without success.  I imagine the majority of us here have, many times.  Good luck to all!

Carib is entitled to her opinion. She was not rude or obnoxious. There is no reason her post needed to be moderated.  This site should have positive, negative and neutral comments for all to take from what they want.

    Re: Alli -Oops bag

I know I have gone over the 15 grams of fat in a meal before and I haven't had any side effects. So far it is working great. I do think about not just popping something in my mouth between meals if it contains fat grams.

    Re: Aiil -Oops bag

I have been on Alli since the day it came out...14th I believe....I have had absolutely no problems because I eat low fat.  So don't worry about the "effects," if you eat low fat. ..you 'll be fine.  : )

As you say.....Alli is not an excuse to eat high fat things. you got it right.

    Re: Alli -Oops bag

I am wondering if maybe Carib meant simply that if you keep it below 15 grams per meal you should not have TE and thus would not need the "oops" bag.  If you are eating more than than and just making plans for the TE, then it would be somewhat self defeating.....  While you will be pooping your brains out, you are consuming so many calories the alli won't help.

I am not starting until I can keep it around 15 for 3 days straight because otherwise I am risking TE's and just tossing money in the toilet....  Both for the pills and the food.

(Or I am just naive and like to think people would not be nasty when we are all supposed to be helping and supporting each other.........  Let us hope it is the former and not the latter.)

I agree with you s_a_p_f that I am reading this message board in private for support and motivation which I don't normally get at home.  The funny stories and the encouragement really help.

So for all you people who post good advice and encouragement...thanks. And for Carib_girl...we can live without your judgement.

    Re: Alli -Oops bag

hello everyone,  i'm new to this.  I am planning on taking my first dose tomorrow morning....and I'm a little nervous.   I have to admit, all I can think of is the old SNL skit of "Opps I crapped my pants" and I start to giggle.   I agree, just keeping this in mind will keep me honest for sure!   I'm a weight watcher member, and I work out, walk etc and am going nowhere fast.  I'm 54 so I know that's part of my problem,  but man I'm up against the wall and need some help....I hope this will work.....keeping my fingers (and legs) crossed!!!

    Re: Alli -Oops bag

i think all opions should be welcome. maybe somebody else responds to the truth being said black and white not covered in roses. so i think everyone should get over themselves (pity party) and lets hear what everyone says. i took her opion as saying that if we all did as we are supposed to do hence ( is alli for you ) making life changes no matter what is in front of us (sacrificing ) fathers day brunsh than we should not be focusing on getting an oops bag ready

( good idea just in case ) until we know what we gotten ourselves in for

but it is supposed to be a program

not a lesson on how to cheat and get a way with it

in black in white    are you commited ?   i am 283  5  7"   the mother of six  and so committed i will suceed

    Re: Alli -Oops bag

I agree 100% with you Alli4Me. If you are not in our situation then you don't understand. I think we all know what we need to do to lose weight, but for me food is almost like an addiction and Alli will hold me accountable. There have been times when I have ate something and as soon as I was finished, I asked myself why I did it. I ate it before I realize what I was doing. Alli's "treatment effects" will help me keep what I put in my mouth in the front of my mind. I am now concisous of everything I put in my mouth because I know there are consequences.

I respect "Carib Girl" for asking, but please don't come across to us that are trying to change our life style. I have a question for you. If you know what needs to be done to lose weight, then why are you here? Just curious.

    Re: Alli -Oops bag

Most people taking alli are using it for behavior modification.  I have tried every diet known to man at one time or the other and it never works for me, partly because I start out every morning with the best of intentions to stick with a low fat, low carb diet. Then I get hungry and lose control.  When I've taken alli with my meal, I know I'll have bad side affects if I lose control.  It helps me get through the day without screwing up.  The bad affects stopped the 3rd day on the program, and I don't have any trouble as long as I stick with a low fat diet.  I'm sure once I've got my eating habits under control, I'll no longer need alli to get through the day.  Until then, I'm thankful for the product.
