    Re: Sexual Side Effects??

Yes!! UGH! My hubby is complaining! I'm in the middle of my 3rd week, I've lost 17 pounds so far, so you'd think I would be very "excitable".  I'm normally normal  high as well, and my desire has decreased to almost nothing.  Also, I keep forgetting to take my vitamins at bedtime, and I'm more tired than normal.  I'll try to remember to take them tonight & see if that helps.  This is definitely a deal-breaker for me!!

    Re: Sexual Side Effects??

Hay, don't we burn a lot of calories having sex!!  oh boy...... a daily exercise!!  hahaha... I rarely get to exercise!!  I guess that could be a motivation!!  hehehe..

Sure is motivation, you can burn 150+ calorie shaving sex, sounds much better than 30 minutes on the treadmill.  Get creative and you can use all kinds of muscles!!!  My sex drive has shot way up,(and I had a healthy one before but now...)  I feel so good having lost 13 lbs.  My hubby loves alli!

    Re: Sexual Side Effects??

I have noticed a big decrease in my sexual desire, but I think it has alot to do with being scared of having "Treatment Effects" during sex with my husband. I am usually attacking my husband, however I have been on the back burning this past week and have even told him "Not right now" he looked at me like I was crazy! ....LOL I hope this passes soon

YaYaMom3Great job loosing 17 pounds. I just finished my first week and have lost "only" 3 pounds. I have been having TE I suppose that is why I am not interested in sex. I was wondering how you and others have lost so much?

I am with Lpeters on this one!

I am a romance specialist by profession. I help educate women on their bodies with the help of lotions, lingerie and other goodies!

When your attitude shows you are sexy you feel sexy. Try changing your attitude and it may help. I know right now with some of the effects of Alli it doesn't help matters.

Try really watching your fat intake, the day before (its ok to plan ahead for love), then get some fruits, and some low fat and cal. fingers foods and feed each other. Let it lead where it does. Make sure you are taking time for you to make yourself feel good. Pamper yourself a bit. Go out and buy a new bra and panty set. watch how that can make you feel a bit more sexy.

REMEMBER SEXY IS AN ATTITUDE AND NOT A SIZE!!!!

    Happy Romancing!

    Re: Sexual Side Effects??

I've had the sexual side effect.  I am not on anything else and you guys might think that I'm crazy but last night was the first night since I started taking them that we fooled around and I couldn't for the life of me have an "O" which is extremely odd. I am taking no other meds, not preoccupied and totally into what was going on and my hubby tried forever and nothing.  We were both pretty upset at the whole thing.

So I totally agree that for some it may cause this.

    Re: Sexual Side Effects??

I'm with you, I've been taking for almost a month and have 0 interest, I just decided to do a search to see if anyone else is feeling the same.  I'ts a bummer but at least it feels justified, I can blame it on something and tell my husband it's temporary.

    Re: Sexual Side Effects??

I've been on Alli for two weeks now and yeah, now that you mention it, I haven't been feeling the drive at all. My boyfriend is kind of complaining. I've lost 8lbs and he notes that my tummy's gone down. I'm not scared of TEs because I know as long as I'm eating right, TEs won't occur. I don't know why I've lost any desire. Maybe I have been more preoccupied wit hthe weight loss than anything. Even if I've lost some weight, I still don't feel the confidence that I used to.

    Re: Sexual Side Effects??

somebody might want to pose this question to the RPh on the board, because as i understand the way alli and orlistat work is that they are not systemically absorbed, thus the only side effects we should see are those involving the GI tract.  I'm a pharmacy tech myself and have done a lot of homework before starting alli.

i think it's worth remembering that most of sexual desire is mental, which sort of triggers the physical.  i really think there is much to be said for the idea of being preoccupied with the idea of having a TE, or of not feeling the best because of other GI SEs that go along with taking the drug.  it doesn't really put you in the mood.

so, check out and see what the pharmacists have to say about this, or talk to your MD.  i personally haven't had any problems, but i know i've been getting less fat and calories than i'm supposed to, thus limiting the chance for TEs.

    Re: Sexual Side Effects??

Well .. my husband was given "the little blue pill" a few years back ... STILL has no impact on him.   I want to shake him and say LISTEN UP .. I MAY BE 54 BUT I'M NOT DEAD !!!!   Sooo sexual side effects ?? Heck - ya gotta have sex first to have a side effect, right ?  I'm just a born again virgin, never to see the light of day again :(
